Ask him if these things are actually street-dated by the POS. Sure the site may say a specific date, but NOA has no set street-date and we know they can be sold upon arrival. Like, try scanning one and see what happens?

I would like to know how many Meta Knight they are planning to get for each store versus other Amiibo. I want to know if exclusive figures will be that rare.

I don't mind this too much since it means the entire allotment of Rosalinas will be available in stores on day 1 without any reserved. It shouldn't be too hard to get one if you go on launch day... unless they break street date.

Pray that the registers won't let anyone buy them if they're not supposed to be sold yet. Because getting an unwitting target employee to get them from the back isn't that hard.

I found a Diddy Kong today and it wouldn't ring up. The employee said they couldn't sell it until Friday.
 
Zelda, Mac and Diddy shipped from Amazon, should be here on the 16th.

Had to approve delays on Luigi, Pit and Cpt. Falcon. If you ordered from Amazon check your open orders because you'll need to do the same or they won't ship them.

To scalpers yea. Hell people are buying up zelda and that one released with a moderately larger shipment then lil mac/diddy.

It's true but at some point they won't be able to just keep making one from each wave (like Zelda from wave 2) or they'll just end up with plenty of unsold Mario/Link/Pikachu on the shelves.

Also, since Captain Falcon has an unlockable suit in Mario Kart 8, it would be pretty stupid to make him very rare. =/

That option came up for Falcon but not Pit or Luigi.
 
I want to stress that Europe just got a restock of every single wave 1 Amiibo - I INCLUDING Marth and Villager. I would be shocked if NA doesn't get them restocked as well. I'd wait before paying an arm and a leg for those

I still have Marth sealed. I never planned on using him, just bought in case I ended up wanting the full set. I would have sold him long ago if not for that. I keep telling myself that it's about $800 for the full set ultimately, but I'm not sure I will care about money.
 
I'm not opening any of mine. Just going to save them as collectibles on display.

I've started preordering all of the wave 3 ones now through gamestop. Only missing King Dedede, Sheik, Rosalina, and Lucario. I'm debating getting Rosalina/Lucario through Play-asia. My local TRU had -8 Little Macs in stock so either there was a huge clerical error on someone's part or they're basically getting stolen before they hit the shelves. Either way, not encouraging for my chances at getting a Lucario.

Infinity I don't believe ever really had a problem selling. I noted in another thread that basically just the Sorcerer Mickey was insanely rare because it was given away at an event before regular retail release..so it was going for like $300 online. Some figures I haven't seen in a while like Mike but others sold terribly; enough that they sent them to like grocery store junk toy sections. I picked up a bunch of Captain Barbosa up at a store near me for $1.99 each.

Skylanders DID have a similar problem to amiibos right now. During the launch of the first game, figures sold out and didn't return in regular stock to shelves until May. Stores were literally selling them right out of the boxes and not even getting to hang them on pegs. That's what I think is really happening here and there's nothing being "discontinued"; its just that they're being rotated out for the new wave. Same thing happens with Skylanders where the assortment is different for each wave, and other characters from the first wave usually show up in other ones (often later in the life of the game)

Seems to me they're selling pretty good comparatively. I think Skylanders is still selling well, but they have far more products to sell and make money on. Considering they have not only Trap Masters, Core Characters, Mini Double Packs, Traps, Adventure Sets, Trap Multi Packs AND previous game figures that have been leftover....and that's just mainline game stuff not counting other Skylanders merch.

Infinity I don't think sells super well...i've never actually seen anyone in a store walking by with any of the Infinity toys except for on Black Friday where I saw someone getting a starter pack. So my guess is Skylanders sells the best, then Amiibo, then Infinity.

If rumors continue about discontinuation of figures, then Amiibos could sell out entirely from shelves, and then we'll have another 1st Year Skylanders mess on our hands.
 
So... after working 10 hours today I decided to go out and see what the Amiibo situation is. I live outside of Philadelphia so there is a good amount of Targets, Best Buy's and Toys R Uses. Best Buy, Toys R Us had plenty of Kirby, Peach, Mario & Donkey Kong. I did get a strange look from a customer when I was bending over and looking up to see if Peach had any legs. Target was the only store that had Zelda and empty tags for Luigi and Diddy Kong. I know I'm LTTP on wave 2 but it's pretty amazing to see the difference between waves. 3 days after the initial launch of wave 1, I picked all 12 off of one display, so word is definitely spreading.

Lies. I've been here since her page went up. Unless it sold out the first hour it went up, that Facebook page is just repeating what's on the site page without knowing whether it was ever made available in the first place or not.

just ordered rosalina from play asia as I cannot trust target. I actually bought a nintendo ds lite when it first came out from play asia and I should use them more.

It came out to 9 bucks shipping so total 29, i'll gladly pay that rather than deal with target's bullshit games
 
With all the people and resources we have at GAF, I'm really surprised somebody hasn't dug into this and found out if and/or when more shipments of wave 1 are coming in the states. I'm seeing posts about "We just got more wave 1 here in Europe", etc but nobody in the states has a contact in toys or distribution or whatnot to get the word on it?

I'm tempted to say that we should get a restock in January because if we don't, there will be a bunch of empty shelf space after Christmas and what are they gonna do, leave that empty until February 1st?

Yeah I really see there being a restock at some point.
Considering they have been mum on any further waves I think might help as well.
 
So there are multiple eBay listings for preorders of the store exclusives. With the horror stories in this thread though, I want to pose the question: Is it worth it to pay? I don't want to throw $170 down for something that may not even come to fruition.
