GameMaster78 is the guy. I'm not sure if he used the same one here, but his stuff is astounding.
Most recently he got enough of the Swap Force characters to create ALL 256 combinations of the swappers. Absolute Insanity but I love looking at his stuff lol.
Yep, it was just as crazy. I expressed either earlier in this thread or another one that this is what happened during Skylander's first year; figures were sold out most everywhere until April/May.

That's crazy!! I wonder if Amiibos will hold up the same, later. Skylanders certainly died down after a bit over a year, and now every store is packed with them.

Secretly wishing I had all that money
Well if you're lucky they'll have your item there on launch for you to pick up/you'll get it all nice and delivered right to your front door.
If you're unlucky, you can have your special edition preorder sold to someone else, refused a refund and instead given the cheaper regular version of the game you were trying to buy. Which is what happened to a friend of mine.
EDIT: Swear this is the last edit. A friend of mine at TRU said the actual brick and mortar stores will/are getting cards you can preorder your Lucario figure with. So if you haven't preordered yet or were worried about online canceling/ worrying about TRU sending your things in a bubble envelope, you can pick one up at your local store.
i scare myself thinking how deep i'll go with these nintendo characters since it's something i've grown up with the collecting addiction can be extreme...and these are only the smash lineup...i can just imagine what they have in store for us.

I think rather than it dying down, its that more people are better concerned with their money/ more stock.
Activision certainly learned their lesson with the first two Skylanders games. No figures on the shelves meant no sales. Swap Force and now Trap Team have continued with brisk sales, but there are far more figures now then ever before and so people wait for deals to buy up their figures they need. (of course, this is outside of your average consumer/die hards who buy stuff day 1). It's much more frugal to wait for sales, which is what I've been doing the last few Skylanders games and what I'm trying to do with amiibos.
I did happen to notice that two Walmarts I visited yesterday were completely cleaned out of almost all of their Trap Team stock. Literally nothing but the starter packs. However, there was a "Shop With A Cop" thing going on over northeastern Ohio, so..maybe that was the reason.
Does Gamestop charge you immediately when you preorder there or do they charge you when something ships? Thinking about preordering Ike because fuck me man I'm officially addicted to collecting these things. I'm probably gonna end up with at least one amiibo per Smash franchise (except for Wii Fit, looking back I prob should've jumped on Trainer).

EB games Australia is saying that wave 3 preorders are about to sell out. I have an order for Rosalina and Toon Link online. Can't say if they mean it or they're exaggerating for more orders but apparently Ike is already sold out.

it's been a long time coming. i've been seeing those figures up on their site and wondering if they even have a max allocation or not. glad to see they do, as i put my orders in a few weeks ago, meaning they're secured and haven't been over-ordered. went with shulk, dedede and megaman.
might grab bowser if i see him on shelves and he looks good, but 3 from 1 wave is already a lot for me, so I might not..

Two online buddies got Lil Mac and Diddy for me. I'm gonna wait and see if TRU ships my orders but I'll probably grab it off them since I'm not sure if TRU will fuck up my orders or not. Better safe than sorry.
Quick question about the innards of the amiibos (admittedly coming from complete ignorance):
Do they run on batteries or is it actually a microchip inside like a memory card or? If it runs on batteries, at some point, that'll run out and wipe our data right?
There were about 18 Luigi's at the TRU thats 30 min away from my house. The one thats 5 min away from my house said they arent expecting to have him until Saturday. Who knows if he will end up being hard to find but I hope Pit is stocked at least as good as Luigi was here. Btw I'm in CA.
My Villager order from Play-Asia doesn't seem like it's coming. Got this today:
We regret to inform you that we were unable to send out the order within the anticipated time frame. Please note that the shipping times we state are estimates only and can be extended in exceptional cases. We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused.
At this point we can not make any estimation when your order is likely to be shipped, therefore we shall give you an update on the situation on or before Dec 22, 2014

Yeah I was a little glad to see it because at least it means that there aren't any over-allocated orders. I was a little worried my orders would get cancelled but it doesn't seem like that will happen. Also Ike is 100% sold out on the website so it looks like they were serious. I guess the others won't last too much longer.

Cool. Glad I'm not the only one going sorta crazy over the Amiibos. Figured the real value in the Amiibos is having them all, especially if they're going to dc some of them along the way.
Side question: So what's the word on the carrying/storage cases? (The ? and mushroom). Are they worth the cash, or at very least, helpful in storing them?
Welp, now that I realized I want at least one amiibo from every series in Smash, I decided to import a Wii Fit Trainer from Nippon Yasan. I've officially gone nuts.
So far I have Marth, WFT, Villager, Samus, Lil Mac, and Fox. Shulk, Ike, Megaman, Sonic, Meta Knight, and Dedede are preordered. Might try to get Diddy when the heat dies down next year. Still waiting on Toys R Us to put up Lucario for preorder. Since Target Canada has no online infrastructure for orders (don't know why SMH) I'll just chance it by going to my nearest one when to get Roselina. I SWEAR when Zero Suite Samus, Lucina, and Ness go up for preorder I will not hesitate.
Amiibo GAF, what has become of me? I told myself I'd stop with Villager and Marth after I got WFT. This stupid collectors bug. It's like collecting transformers from my childhood all over again.
So......I've noticed something a little weird. I've been training my Little Mac amiibo in one-on-ones using my own Little Mac and Ness. Back when it was around Lv. 30ish and I'd continuously kick its ass, I'd taunt every time I took a stock from him. Eventually, when he managed to KO me, he started taunting too. It was pretty cool seeing how he learned to taunt from me. But now my Little Mac's at Lv. 47, he's gotten a LOT better and actually wins a good amount of matches. But, I've noticed that he stopped taunting. Why? I still remember to taunt all the time when I KO him, has he just gotten too mature for that stuff?
Edit: Also, can amiibos learn anymore past Lv. 50?
I have Samus and Peach.. thinking I want some more of these things. I'm going to be in a much more rural area over christmas so i hope i can find some of the less common ones there with less competition.
Play Asia once cancelled an order for me but only after I threatened to never shop there again. They told me the cancellation was a one time thing only.

When did you order it? I ordered mine on the 10th and have yet to get anything for Marth or Villager. And the date of when it was supposed to ship of the 17th disappeared too, while both are listed as sold out all of a sudden.
Got mine from Amazon.de now...use Google translate and copy+paste if you have to. In the end, the conversion was cheaper than Play-Asia came out to be..by about $1.
Edit: Just checked again. Marth is now listed expected to get more in soon on the 24th. Nothing listed for Villager.
That would have been great...being able to re-use a box later, and also having the design artwork not blocked by the figure itself are major pluses. Then again it does have the drawback of not being able to check out the paintjob beforehand....maybe a window on one of the sides? Oh well, what's done is done.
Well I don't know about others, but she's apparently already sold out in preorders here in New Zealand (haven't seen that happen with other Amiibos yet and we don't even have a proper release date here yet), and when I went to look on Amazon UK she wasn't available there either. Seems she might be hard to find when she comes out.
