Amiibo Discussion Thread

Seriously what's going on in Canada?! No one knows when they're gonna get wave 2B. Why are we that much behind other countries? :(

Just got a call from GameStop not too long ago. They received a Pit amiibo that was not reserved by anyone. Apparently, GameStop's are only getting one Pit per store? Take that with a grain of salt though. Thankfully they held it for me but if it is true that each GS location is only getting one, that's going to make it even harder for collectors.

I feel like I might need some form of proof, so here is a picture of the amiibo?

All the GS's I called had one or two tops for non-reserve.

Anyone else going Pit hunting?

Would you be able to snag one for me to ship? Will pay for the item, shipping and a little extra for your trouble if you like.

I will do the same PM me...I would gladly hunt myself but I'm at work all day...off early tomorrow for the Holidays.

On a side note, I tried to pre-order Shulk and kept getting it deleted from my cart...Ike and Sonic are now pre-ordered for me though along with Toon Link, Megaman, Sheik and potentially Falcon and Lucario if the Ebay order comes through.

You must not collect toys in Canada. We are fucked over or behind 90% of the time, or shortstocked. I barely collect anything due to this, at least Amiibos have international presence as well for a fair price compared to me importing other action figures from the US.

I spoke with some guys at Gamestop and they said that they have stopped taking preorders for Shulk since two days ago. Apparently Nintendo isn't letting them buy more figures to fill new preorders, so they are stuck with the allotment that they will get. That boiled my blood more than anything actually, because what the hell is the point of a preorder then? It is supposed to let the manufacturers know how many guaranteed sales there are and how many to make and send to the stores. WHY STOP THE PREORDERS IF THEY ARE STILL A MONTH OFF?

EB Canada told me something similar, they were forced to stop preorders but might have some 'walk-in' Shulks for non-preorders to buy. Just watch scalpers buy them all too, so I've hung onto my UK preorder. Heh.

I absolutely hate Gamestop's stickers. I got my Little Mac from there and it sticks out like a sore thumb next to the rest of my collection.

More Gamestops in San Francisco just got their Pit shipments in.

Stonestown and Mission are showing low stock so probably just a couple.

Westlake Gamestop in Daly City shows in stock so they probably got more than a few.

Well, in all fairness, there has to be some form of limit set. They can't take preorders till the day before release, and expect Nintendo to make enough to satisfy that demand by the next day, while keeping everyone happy who preordered one and can get it day 1.

My amiibo luck has completely turned around. Randomly found a Captain Falcon at target last night, and then I just called every Game Stop in the Portland/Vancouver area and ONE had ONE Pit.

I understand the limit, but there is still a ton of time left. Like give a heads up on cut off time and then set it 2 weeks or something before release, not over a god damn month. It doesn't help that I wasn't in my home area for 3 months and wasn't sure exactly when I was getting back, so I waited until I knew what I was coming. At that point I should have just ordered online.

A month isn't a lot of time. Hell, neither is two months. Think of it this way: The factory needs time to make these things. Nintendo doesn't want to order any more of these from the factory than they have to. They have to take a wild guess as to what demand will be and then set an order that they think will likely cover that, or possibly be a bit less.

Then after they are made, the shipment has to get on a boat and come across the seas. Then it ends up in a logistics yard for a while before it is sent to some distribution center who sorts them and then packs the orders for the stores.

Then they get on a truck and some may go directly to stores, but others go to yet another distribution center. Then those will get trucked out to individual stores if they haven't already.

This is a long process, guys. The numbers they have set for Wave 2 and 3 are likely it. I'm sure Wave 1 just has the common ones getting restocks, but who even knows about those. I think Nintendo just underestimated the demand for some of these things. But who knows, if they were plentiful there may not be such a mad dash to go buy them. I have to think part of the success has been the absolutely fucking bonkers insane hysteria from people like the posters in this thread.

Just got my Pit Amiibo today. I preordered from Gamestop and they just texted me that it was in. Picked it up about 30 min later. It was the only Pit Amiibo to come to that store. The lady was like "oh, so your the one that gets it. We just got that in today."

I also have all the common wave 1s, which are already open and all over the place (my niece plays with them a lot). I've been trying to keep the less common ones packaged.

still waiting on captain falcon order, and no pit yet (since TRU cancelled my pit).

GameStop seems to be out of Falcons and I just missed him. If anyone got an extra I'll buy it off you. Otherwise I'll risk it next week in stores.

and they're not taking any holds either :(

Why take preorders at all then? Especially if you can't even guarantee them. It defeats the purpose of them completely. It reminds me of gamestop back in 2007 doing the same damn thing, except with games. This feels worse than the Wii shortages because it is something that is cheaper to make.

Guess they're all just doing first come first serve now. Which I guess is fair, but definitely sucks for those at work.

I'm thinking Target might get theirs in this week though.

3 Macs and 2 Villagers eh.

I've got the inside scoop on a Unreserved Pit that arrives at a undisclosed location/retailer tomorrow in the greater Milwaukee area. I got mine already so if you live nearby PM me for details.

Got my MP Bumblebee too recently. Really well done figure!

Captain Falcon is showing up for pick up today at a bunch of stores 1 hour away from me, but Best Buy doesn't let me add it to the cart. Fuuuuck.

Got the text from Gamestop to finally pick up Luigi today. Captain Falcon is apparently still MIA. They've blamed a winter storm to the north. Whatever the case, I'm starting to get worried. :/

3 Macs and 2 Villagers eh.

I got my villagers and marths and WFT back when they came out and weren't really that rare yet. just bought 'em.

as far as little mac, he was available for a full day on amazon so I struck.

I don't have a "scalper" mentality at all, more of a "I might later be able to trade this for another hard to find one that I can't get my hands on" mentality.

Awww! I want that cute Toon Link figure!

doesn't everyone :)

So I was calling around to see if i could snag a anther Pit. So I called a Gamestop that got in a shipment and I asked if they got in Pit today. They did! and I asked if they could hold one for me. And the dude says sure! Tell my co-workers I was going to lunch. I ran to my truck and drove on over! Got there and turns out it was a pre-order and the guy apologized.......... I took a deep breath and walked to my truck........and thought it was a good thing that I have him coming in from Amazon France. Because that was the first time I felt bitter defeat of the amiibo hunt and it hurt. It hurt bad!!
