I'm glad my gf convinced me to pick up the last Fox at Walmart the other day. I was supposed to have him coming in the mail, but Target cancelled our order because we had mistakenly put down the wrong address. No email or nothing. And my TRU has apparently been targeted by scalpers since all 30 Luigi's disappeared in a split second (according to an employee) and the Fox's they used to have in relative abundance are now completely absent.

I just see a sea of Mario's, Links, Peaches, etc. You know, I understand Nintendo wanting to make its biggest sellers available, but the ratio is so ridiculously out of proportion. Rack after rack of Marios, Links, Pikachus. You would think this might be a good opportunity to introduce some players to the less known characters and grow those franchises. But what do I know?

I know scalpers are trying to hock them onlne but I see so many closed listings on eBay I'm almost thinking the market will crash after the holidays.

Yay my Little Mac delivered from Best Buy came in!

Same with me and it was packed good! I don't think I'm gonna worry about grabbing Pit in the store anymore. I have a Pit and a Falcon coming.

Also, this Little Mac from Best Buy is in great condition. The one I got from Nintendo World has a black paint splotch on his back.

The scalping is definitely part of it. But in the case of Marth/Villager/WFT, it really does seem like Nintendo of America put out so few of those that it was a massive screwup. You would think that they only ordered like 5000 of each at most. Of the 700,000 amiibos sold in November, I doubt 10,000 of those were even Marth/Villager/WFT combined.

Keep in mind that retailers often decide and order what toys and assortments they are going to carry. It may not all be up to Nintendo. If I was a buyer for a large retail chain I would not want to get stuck with a ton of unsold inventory. Let's face it, before Amiibo's launched people were thinking that Nintendo was a day late and a dollar short to the Skylanders business, and furthermore the explained functionality for SSB didn't seem all that compelling. The Wii U had been selling like shit, so stocking Amiibos wasn't sounding like a good idea, but you never know, so they ordered a few. Now, even if you are carrying or supplying Amiibos, you have to decide which figures are going to be in the most demand and order (or manufacture) appropriately so that you don't get stuck with excess inventory.

If I am a 50 year old executive, I'm guessing that kids are going to be the primary drivers of this business (just like Skylanders) so would I buy an equal amount of Marths as Marios? Hell no, because who the hell is Marth? Should I buy equal amounts of Wii Fit Trainers as Peaches? What kid is going to buy a faceless lady in a workout outfit? Just order a few. I'm convinced that's how those three figures ended up so rare. The people in charge did not figure on the primary purchasers of their product being 20-40 year olds hell-bent on collecting the whole line. Once the scarcity became real, the scalpers came out in force and all hell broke loose since this greatly exacerbates any demand issue these days.

Yup same here. It was packed nice and neat, no issues at all.

It looks like a wave of Captain Falcons has hit Best Buy stores (at least in Michigan). A friend called saying they snagged the last one at a store while he was out shopping, and a quick look shows quite a few stores are "in stock" on their website.

I'm surprised since the Best Buys I checked didn't even have a tag for Falcon (and most were bone-dry altogether with their stock in shambles), but I'm hoping this is accurate. They're showing "3-5 days" for most of the other hard-to-get Amiibo, so I'm ever so cautiously optimistic I'll find one.

Sorry if this has been mentioned already-- I've missed out on a few pages of this thread.

I'm skipping Wave 2 so I haven't been following the stock levels other than what has been posted in this thread. I was at a Target in the Bay Area CA today running some errands and they had a lot of Luigi Amiibo there. A couple of Samus, one Kirby and a lot of the more common ones.

The rumor that those three figures were discontinued probably did more to make them impossible to find than the actual shipment numbers.

Has anyone's preorders for Pit or Captain Falcon shipped from Amazon (US)? I preordered them right when they went up and they still haven't shipped.

Interesting thing happened in my GameStop. I come in to work and we had 4 Pit's. All extra. We were supposed to get a box with 5 Luigi's in them but instead they sent us a box with 1 Luigi and 4 Pit's. They went in about 30 minutes lol even the one that's off its base.

Just placed my Pit find of the day with it's brothers and sisters, one big happy family.

I was wondering something about the Pit Amiibo. My friend was complaining about how Pit had some brown paint on the top and bottom of his hand (the one that held his weapon)

I'm curious if your Pit Amiibo had similar attributes?

where are people finding pit? After talking to gamestop over the weekend, i was under the impression they simply hadn't received them yet.

I hope it does. You have to figure that many of the maniacs who are willing to spend $100 on a Marth have done so already. I've auctioned a few spare WFTs myself and they haven't gone for any extraordinary amount (sorry folks, need some extra Christmas money/need to support my own Amiibo greed). I started the bidding low. You see alot of Buy It Nows for high amounts and who knows if those are actually selling?

Got my Amazon.de Marth and my Gohastings Zelda today in the mail. Both have non-wonky eyes, so I'm happy.

Now if Playasia would get their asses in gear with my Villager I would have a complete wave 1 set already :I

Used the store tracker to find some villagers. The two stores I went to didn't have any, as I expected.

I did find a luigi, so I grabbed that. No one else besides Zelda from wave 2

Lol you admitted to scalping. Bravo to you. I'm also scalping a bit. I'm a college student. If I can legally help pay for $500-700 of books I will. But I wouldn't take more than 1 rare amiibo if someone else was in the store for the same thing.

Marth must've really bombed in Japan. Or Nintendo of America really is just inept at keeping stuff in stock. Probably the latter.

Woah, is it easy to order from amazon Japan? So easy that it even says the USD? Any chance that it'll freeze my CC? That happened when I ordered Doctor Who CDs from Big Finish site which ships from UK. Don't plan on ordering from Japan yet, but would be good to know for the future.

I've only seen a few pictures, but that sounds par for the course as far as Amiibo paint jobs go-- the paint from the handle making its way to his hand. Lord knows I spent a good half hour parsing through the launch lineup looking for ones that weren't too afflicted by poor manufacturing.

I can confirm that GameStops in Southwestern Pennsylvania (Pittsburgh) and Northeast Ohio (Akron/Canton) have received shipments of Pit. Not sure about Cleveland.

Haha thanks, I had to get it off my chest. Last one I think may have gone to a comic book shop and it kinda left a bad taste in my mouth.

I did offer it up here for trade first, though!

Went up to a mall with my roommate and he got his Pit. I'm still waiting on my Pit and Luigi from TRU.

Speaking of TRU we ran into the one next to the mall we want to for Pit and they had these:

The girl who rang us up said they JUST got the preorder cards in an hour or so before we bought ours so hopefully that puts us near the front of their preorders.

I don't get why Wal-mart hasn't stocked any amiibos past the launch set. Even then, they stocked it more than a week after they came out everywhere else. I've been going twice a week and they only have mario, link and peach.

EDIT : Did they have those Lucario cards on the rack or did you have to ask for them?

They canceled my Pit that I placed back on 11/21.

Damn, do they have those preorder cards at Best Buy, or does it seem TRU only?

I bought my daughter Zelda today. It was the last one they had at GameStop. They were sold out at Target and Best Buy near me. I'd love to preorder through Best Buy to use my GCU,

I've noticed this too. I've been to several Walmarts today and not seen a single wave 2.

I've seen them too. They are on the checkout counter in the "R Zone" department.

Is the packaging on the German ones in English? Seems to be on the website.

They were on the racks with the Amiibos and there were more at the register in their games section.

I haven't seen cards anywhere else in my amiibo hunting

today I went to my local Saturn in the city of Hamburg in Germany, this is the biggest store in the country so supply is supposed to be ample.

tell me US-Gaf, is this intersting? I know you've been fighting for villagers, Marths, WFTs and even Luigis. Little Mac is also readily available.

the weird thing was, just 1 Samus Aran! :O

Sell those suckers on eBay to greedy Americans, hurry!

When I got my Lucario card they weren't on the rack, they were in a stack on the cash wrap. I was actually asking if they got Pit yet and they had them last week.

Ok, thanks. I'll check it out tomorrow morning. I need to get two of them for my younger cousins who like Pokemon. If not, hopefully at least one for someone who really likes lucario.

It's weird, I wonder if Wal-Mart is going to suddenly receive a massive shipment and put the wave two amiibos on sale sometime in the future. Wal-Mart also doesn't have a retailer exclusive amiibo.

UK GAF - was out Christmas shopping earlier, nipped in GAME and saw one lone Marth amiibo on the shelf.
I heard it was rare/out of stock/out of print so I thought why not, I'll get it.

I've not really followed the whole Amiibo thing too closely, did I get lucky or are they not as rare in the UK as the US?

Any new amiibos announced yet?
I don't think any have "officially" been announced, but I believe miyamoto was talking about star fox amiibo support, and had previously shown interest in an Arwing amiibo. So I bet a star fox wave will come out next year.

I might be wrong, but I could have sworn I saw a different mario amiibo for Mario Party 10, so if that's real, then I'd imagine some of the other mario party characters (crossing my ghost fingers for boo) will get amiibos.

EDIT: just occurred to me that you probably meant smash, lol. I don't think any more smash waves have been announced.

Finally manged to complete Wave 1. £5 for £10 Amazon vouchers from bespoke offers have really helped, so look out for those. Still annoyed at them for cancelling my Little Mac pre-order though. Just need him and Zelda for the full set now.

This was how I got started, don't think it's as rare as the others as I've seen a Marth in 4/5 Game stores that I've visited. Yet to see a Villager or Wii Fit Trainer anywhere in store in the UK.

So, just got an e-mail from eBay saying that Amiibo was searched for 47,886 times in the past week. Just thought I'd share. Don't really know if that's a significant number, all things considered.

THE RUSH!

Been refreshing Gamestop tracker for Pit, and making lots of phone calls, all day with no luck. Closest stores were 15-30 miles away until I refreshed on a whim and saw my local store had received a late shipment.

Called....no answer.

Jumped in the car, raced to the store, considered going straight to the counter, but ran instead to the Amiibo display in back. As I bobbed as weaved between shiftless shoppers and racks of old games I quickly scanned the entire display and there, at the peak, like an angel atop a Christmas tree, was the elusive cherub known as Pit.

Grabbed him, bought him, and drove gleefully home. Keep the faith, amiigos, keep the faith.
