Amiibo Thread 3 | Where release dates are made up and preorders don't matter!

I wouldn't be surprised if other retailers will follow a similar pattern. Best thing you can do is check in with your local store, they should hold them no matter what if you have a preorder.

Some Gamestops already have gotten Shulk. The 13th date is a place holder.
 
When will we see the amiibo law and order episode? When wave 4 goes up I feel like I need to order double or triples of each just in case people need help. These target and toys r us memos are obstacles I'd prefer to avoid.

He hasn't been officially released in Europe or Japan. Dated for 2/20 along with Sonic and Mega Man. (They did come out on Australia already though)

North America is getting Shulk early. Already came out in Canada and was available at Nintendo World for like a day.

So on Friday night I stopped by the Target that's on my way to see my wife to ask about Rosalina. The girl working said that she would hold one for me since I couldn't get here until close to close. Fast forward to now and the hold note for my Rosalina was laying on the ground and she's not here. It sounds like it was misplaced or sold. I bet I could find her listed for sale on eBay though. I was pretty excited to pick her up. This sucks really fucking hard.

Uh what. Gamestops are supposed to call and if not they send a text or something. Kind of fucked to get stock in and go "too bad you didn't get your stuff, you should have been checking every day".

Thanks! I'm not even going to attempt retail with him knowing what I would have to put up with. First character I'm going to import if need be.

I don't understand why people would have to be called. GameStop always sends me a text message when something I ordered will be ready for pickup...

For one order I have, it used my house phone rather than my cell phone. I'm not sure that Gamestop's computers would know the difference.

I don't think that is working for Shulk. I had another Gaffer spot two at Gamestop but he didn't have the funds to purchase them, I guess they were for non-preorders. I've seen some pop up on eBay too today. Seems like this week we might see even more.

That was really nice of her to do in the first place. As far as I know, Target is only supposed to hold items for half an hour. That's what I've been told the two times I've needed them to hold something for me, anyway.

It seems like just about everyone who wanted Rosalina got one earlier today, and plenty of people got extras to help those who didn't out. Hope you get one soon enough.

idk anymore my gs employee showed me a shulk in hand a few days ago I mentioned it back in OT2... no idea what's going on there...
 
think i'll head down to my gamestop tomorrow and ask, i'm gonna sell xenoblade and get shulk and toon link but not until i'm done with my second playthrough, hope he comes out on the 13th as advertised
 
I have this bad feeling I'm not going to get Meta Knight or Shulk...

Why the hell didn't I pre-order Shulk anyway? He was available for plenty of time iirc...

Nearest gamestop told me yesterday they could get them today and to check at morning. I did, but then the clerk told me to check the 13th...

I may very well be wrong, but as far as I've seen, no GS have (at least in the US). Maybe some EB have?

I know they took off street date, but I didn't take that as Shulks being available suddenly.

In-store, on a shelf, just sitting there? That changes everything. Literally everything we've heard about Shulk indicates there won't be any available for walk-ins, so ignoring the possibility that the gaffer made it up or that some knuckle-headed employee accidentally threw them out with the normal figures and screwed someone's pre-orders up, there's a chance we could find some normal ones on shelves.

GAAAAAH don't do that!!!!!! That game is amazing. Even if it's getting a re-release I will still hang on to it! Like like a gameing gold!! I'm goin to double dip and keep them both forever!

Exactly my thoughts. He said to just call and check in. Never had a similar issue but I doubt they've experienced something like this too.

it must be done, plus i don't have the money to get shulk and toon link without selling it, thought about offering it as a trade for WFT

She said she could do a 24 hour hold, and mostly she was doing it because people were calling and calling her an idiot for not knowing how many they'd have, etc. She said I was the first and only person to ask her nicely about Rosie hah.

Anyway if anyone has an extra they're willing to let go for retail-ish please PM.

I can't understand the mentality of selling a game when you finish it rather than keeping it for your collection.

Especially in an amiibo thread.

Yeah, I get that people are frustrated, but I don't know why quite a few posters here are concluding that this situation is NoA's goal.

On allocation... all amiibo are the same, but packaged to their regions. It's right here that the distribution of supply is established. Who decides the allocation of the figures to each region? Each regional headquarters has a say, I'm guessing, but do they have the last word over how many they want made for their region? If NoA does not have the final say, then can we blame them (I'm not saying they don't.. I do not know)?

On overall supply... What wave of figurines were being produced back in December, as the astonishing sales of amiibo started being noticed? Wave 3? Were wave 3 already finished? Were Wave 4? Is it possible that Nintendo did start increasing production orders this past month, but that we won't see it until wave 5?

I mean I can understand not having a use for something and selling it for the money, but I collect my games, and I actually always replay them from time to time.

It takes up space. Space is valuable.

Only reason I'm not selling my Metroid Prime Trilogy is that the price has dropped a bunch since the digital release, once it climbs back I'll probably sell it.
