Yeah, I'm actually bummed that he was so confrontational. I was hoping for more of a Q&A and less of a debate.

He was confrontational? You should probably watch that again.

The reason there was no debate was because there was nothing to debate. They know their position and they're sticking to it, everyone who interviews them knows their position. It's just tantamount to pointing at them and going 'ha ha stoopid people' and that's what every interview with them will be.

I had to stop watching after about a minute or so. From what I've seen up until I stopped watching, they're pulling random bits out of the bible to use as arguments without having context of the passage it comes from, and that's seriously the wrong way of going about it.

that just describes 99% of christians

The bible can be interpreted in many ways, but to twist it to use as a tool for hatred and discrimination isn't something it's intended.

If you show up to their protests and dance and play music and such and act all happy in front of them they take their pickets and go away. That's all you have to do, and never talk to them.

They keep doing this shit because people get angry against them. They want a confrontation, and when they don't have it they feel silenced and just leave.

Westboro are the ultimate trolls. That's literally all it boils down to.

The only way to kill a troll is to ignore it completely, yet as a nation we cannot due to the content they put out.
This. They just say all kinds of things just to enrage people to the highest degree to get them to react the way they want and then just move on to the next task.

These people are nuts and deserve no attention.

Bullshit. The Bible explicitly condones slavery. The Bible explicitly states you are to kill unbelievers. The Bible explicitly states you are to kill homosexuals. The Old Testament also explicitly states that Jews are superior, and are allowed to pillage and torture, enslave, rape and kill their neighbors because they are preferred by God. The Bible explicitly states that people not convinced Jesus was secretly god or that he existed as described are deserving of being tortured forever. You don't get to take a book that explicitly condones and commands these things as say it wasn't intended for hatred because that is full of shit and if you've ever read The Bible, you'd know that.

The Old Testament is abominable. The New Testament features a bipolar split between happy "Love everyone" and the same hateful insanity as the Old Testament.

There is a reason why The Bible is jokingly referred to as the "Big Book of Multiple Choice."

They are much more reasonable when they're not yelling.

You need your ears checked.

And do you honestly believe it is reasonable to suggest that natural disasters are caused by not stoning gays to death?

It's really unfortunate that these fuckwads are equipped with lawyers.
No, it is not. It shows that the system works.

Edit: Why doesn't that hacker named 'The Jester' just use all of his might to DDOS attack all of Westboros websites instead of worrying about islamic websites that are obscure and hard to find?

The Westboro church is a cult. The followers are brainwashed. There's not much else to be said.

What exactly makes this a cult? The number of members, or the fact that the majority disagrees with their core beliefs?

You know, everyone goes on about the Westboro church and how horrible they are (obviously), but in many ways I'm very impressed with how thick skinned they are and how they are constantly able to do what they do. They are hated by all yet outside of some disrespectful protests, they do so little harm to the world. They are never aggressive and they are not secretive.

Let them have their freedom to speak, they are doing nobody any harm unlike the many people who think it's a good idea to attack Westboro.

I'd imagine you'd have to be pretty thick-skinned to take your ignorance and bigotry to the national stage like they have.

Makes me angry, because they make other christians look bad. Thank goodness most christians I know are not like this at all.

Oh I know what you go through, most of the time I am defending them also. I know most muslims are not the violent extremist that the media portrays them as.

I love thunderfoot's "why people laugh at creationists" youtube series... hilarious.
