Analog Solution for the DS ... Could this mockup work?

Bosh at the Netrunner forums made this mockup.
It seems like it would be a handy add-on, but would it, in theory, work?

Really Wish Nintendo would have added analog to begin with.

Why would we want a chode dildo addon?

Flat analog like the PSP.
Small dent on the left side.

D Pad on top
Analog on bottom
Indentation on both right and left speaker.

I've never heard lefties complaining about where the analog is on console controllers. :P

edit: oh wait, you said stylus, missed that somehow, yeah i can see how that could be a problem if you write with your left hand... nevermind :D

oddly enough, i've been playing 3d games for YEARS on my PC with no analog stick. How ever did I manage!

Well, to be fair...the mouse is kind of like an analog stick. :P

I swear PSX launched without analog too.

YOU SHUT THE HELL UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In most PS2 games, if the option is there, I use the d-pad instead of the analog sticks. I really hate them.

isn't the PSP's "analog" stick just a sliding disc? So it would work exactly like the touchscreen, except you get a tactile thing to actually move around?

I would buy that so fast it wouldn't even be funny.
Ditto. If they could somehow make it work, that would be Godsend. How would it work, would it just make any game read the analog input as d-pad movement? Or would games have to be built to be compatible? If the latter, no solution for Mario 64 anyway :(

edit: SELL YOUR THUMB NUB AND TOUCH SCREEN, IT'S ALL OVER

I'm happy with touch screen solutions and thumbstrap controls as well as the usual digital control.. but this is still a great idea IMO. I forgot about the potential for the GBA slot. It could be a rumble and/or tilt pak as well.

Perhaps we'll see a camera go in the GBA slot. I really hope so.

There is a logitech gamepad you can buy for the PC which actually allows you to use the D-Pad itself as an analog stick, its pretty cool. The base that the dpad sits on is the analog movement part, and you flip a switch to go between digital input and analog, works pretty damn good as well.

To make controls much better?
since I don't think there's that much of a problem with the controls as they are, that's not a good enough reason.

Just because PS1 had problems too; that doesn't make them non-problems.

Though if it was the choice between having an analog stick and having tilt built in as was initially planned, I'm not sure which I'd prefer.

Ahahaha. Yesterday the image didn't actually load for me. Now that I see it, it looks a lot like... Dr. Evil's spaceship.

Tilt would suck when you are trying to avoid glare.
*shrug* DS is the machine of weirdass extra features. It's regrettable that something cheap enough to build into individual GBA carts wasn't put into the base hardware here. Then again, I'd also have to read a lot more posts about how not every DS game is utilizing the microphone, second screen, stylus, and tilt capability well.

It would be kinda hard to hold the system and use the analog sticks at the same time without cramping your hands.

The mouse is a pointing device, exactly like the touch screen.

Yes, an analog pointing device. But I think the direct input when moving a mouse makes it superior and more exact compared to pointing and drawing on a screen. Not to mention it feels less cumbersome. Even though I believe frequent use of a touchscreen would make it easier to use, it won't match a mouse.
