Analyst on Wii U: "Competitive position has deteriorated", "No Activision support".

Pre-Nintendo launch of hardware is always the best for reasons like this lol.

I swear they must get the largest amount of doom and gloom before a product launches >.>

While I do think the prospect for the Wii U is grim, especially with the whole half generation leap thing, it's clear to me this analyst doesn't really know what he's talking about, as the comment about iOS development demarks.

:P it's alright though.

I think if anybody is toast next gen is Sony. They don't have the money to pour on the PS4 like they did with the PS3, and with Vita underperforming, I wonder how much shots in the foot they can take with their next-gen system.

I could see Activision not supporting WiiU in terms of exclusives.

Not getting a version of COD or Skylanders, though? Get the fuck out of town.

Are the mods trying to turn this board completely unreadable?

We understand that Activision has no plans to support Wii U

"Wii who?"

I had no idea that Activision was not supporting the Wii U ........ is there any truth in this or is it pure nonsense.

Does this SOUND like anything but pure non-sense?

From them citing that BS about it being weaker than PS360 to them saying god-damn Activision not supporting the WiiU at all.

Everyday there's a new "WU is DooMED" thread ...
This shit is BANANAS!

And yet it'll probably sell despite these remarks
it will sell well to core nintendo fans yes but will it sell to other core gamers? i know nintendo is hoping to get a bigger piece of that market. i'm wondering if video game systems can ever do what the wii did in capturing so many casuals. the ipad is going to make it hard for all the companies involved.

Does Activision do exclusives? I mean not like map packs and the likes, but feel like all of their games are multi

Gibson assigned a target price of ¥10,000 and noted that "if Nintendo went iOS/Android with games we think the stock could be worth ¥20,000+, but in our view that's not going to happen."

1. Wii U GPU is less powerful than Xbox360/PS3 according to developers, which means it has no edge besides the tablet interface to attract core users.

Apple might add in a controller to its line-up to be more attractive to core users. MocoSpace survey shows that 96% of gamers like to play their games at home, and with a better infrastructure we think iOS will be able to deliver a single game experience across four screens that Nintendo cannot.

We understand that Activision has no plans to support Wii U, which means the biggest selling title of Call of Duty will be missing; Konami is also planning minimal support.
These are all BS and made up. Granted at least one of these has a credible rumor to source it back from.

Anyway, the only reasonable piece of advice/information he did provide was to wait until E3 this year. Granted that seems pretty common sense as we know next to nothing about Wii U.

At this point there's enough fodder out there to justify an official industry rag titled Doomed - The Perpetual Decline of Nintendo.

I mean come the fuck on.

I really can't see how.
It'd be pretty boring if all those big devs didn't have something to throw their shovelware on. The Wii was the coal engine for the gaming industry. Third parties just piled the crap in there and it kept that HD train running despite studio closures and increasingly risky projects.

No way their strategy would have worked for so long on HD consoles alone.

can't this guy get in trouble for stating false info like this?

No Activision support?

They couldn't have said anything better that would sell me on the Wii U than that.

Nintendo doomed as always.

Can't remember a recent Nintendo device that wasn't predicted to be a total failure.

DS, Wii, 3DS and now Wii U. All doomed I tell you!

Well it's not false if it's true, and I'm willing to wager that a corporate financial analyst has a better view of things and more resources/sources than most on GAF.

However, I don't want it to be true. How much did the Wii CoD games sell? Maybe they don't think it's worth the effort to "downport" any longer.

Yep. All their B-Titles, spin-offs, and B-teams were put on the wii to work. And then two years later, nobody could understand why their games weren't selling.

The Core base never got cultivated or created, except for the Nintendo franchises. It really needed a Gears of War of the life to bring in all the gamers to its systems.

The fact that it didn't have an online infrastructure to support that kind of game didn't help at all either.

I love seeing silly analysts like these all like "NINTENDO MOBILE, MOBILE NINTENDO, MARIO ON IPHONE NINTENDO GRRRRRRRRRRRAHAHAHAHWWWWAWAHH". Iwata's philosophy on all of this mess is rather clear... and most mobile products are diluted compared to console/portable console counterparts anyway, it would be horrible to see actual franchises go that sad way.

At least people who buy stock get a good deal with this stupid necessity of some people to see nintendo doomed.

Ultimately, Gibson said the "competitive position of the WiiU has deteriorated" and he advises avoiding Nintendo stock until E3.

yea, this is pretty pointless. he knows that he doesn't know anything, he just needed to write an article about something

Wii U will have 1-year window to gain installed base before PS4 (Orbis) and then Xbox Durango launch in late 2013. At that point, the core gamer that Nintendo is after for the first time will have no interest in Wii U.
Let's be honest, Nintendo isn't after the core gamer at all. They're after Nintendo fans and families as usual. Anything else is just icing on the cake for them, as such the PS4 and Durango really aren't much competition.

There is literally no chance this is true. None. 0 percent.

Yep.
Do they not get that this will be marketed as a trendy thing just like the Wii which had abysmal 3rd party support and low end hardware compared to the big two.
But get Oprah and Ellen peddling it, let it be seen in the right hands and people will flock to it.
People will wait for Nintendo's first party offerings and defend everything else and enjoy what they get.

Well, if this is true then we can forget about PS4/720 ports. A repeat of the Wii where it's controller is the only thing it really has going for it?

We'll see.
