And so the E3 2016 Hype Begins

Its not going to top last year imo.

Only interesting thing will be we might finally see NX and the PS4K/ see more info on games announced last E3.

Also kinda keen on seeing what ubisoft does with watch dogs 2.

Actual E3 starts June 14th.

Afaik only EA will have their pre-conference on June 12th. MS, Ubisoft and Sony (in that order) are expected to do their shows on June 13th, with Nintendo following June 14th.

Yeah, I'm aware of that. I think some people actually considered June 12 (Sunday) the beginning of E3 because of conferences (Bethesda and EA). I know some people did tho.

Uncharted 4 would have only be out for a month and people are already expecting them to announce a new ip or a Last of Us sequel? LOL

They still have multiplayer and singleplayer dlc to make, announce, and release like damn.

It is possible.

The original plan they had back in 2011 was to announce TLOU at the E3 conference, but they decided against it for some reason, so the announce was delayed to the VGA's in 2011.

Thats why the newspaper in the bar in Uncharted 3 was still there, because they assumed they would have announced it before Uncharted 3 came out, but completely forgot to remove the newspaper when they decided to not announce at e3 2011.

Long story short, with U4 out, they could potentially just show a concept trailer, whatever to just announce "this is what we are doing after U4".

Then again, I don't know if ND is still split into 2 teams like with U3 and TLOU.

Yeah, some stuff in here are a bit early to be shown. Even people expecting Rocksteady new game are kinda off

If you meant Detroit then I wouldn't expect it to release in 2017 less alone in the spring.

NX: it can't be worse than the Wii U reveal. Nintendo had nothing at E32012. That was disastrous. Now that they are accustomed to HD development with both handheld and console teams working in the same family. I'm expecting things, Nintendo, I'm expecting things!

Not sure if you are confusing e3 2011 and 2012.

E3 2011 was when they announced the wiiU with the hummingbird demo and the original LoZ tech demo.

2012 was Zombie Reggie and Nintendoland fireworks.

Edit: On second thought, watching e3 2011 again Reggie kinda announces the wiiU like its an add on to the wii.

Both hahaha.

The hype is on!

Reminds me of the garbage they tried to pull with knack, what a terrible game. Seems like a crash rip off. He even looks like crash. Big eyebrows, Mohawk, pointy ears. What a disgusting character design.

Sony Predictions:

- Classic sizzle reel to kick things off
- Shawn Layden hosting, opens the show like, "We know you people have been dying to see this one..."
- Sony Bend's new IP reveal with trailer/footage that floors everyone like Horizon did last year. Coming early 2017
- The Last Guardian story trailer. Coming in September 2016
- Horizon Zero Dawn gameplay demo and info dump. Coming in early October 2016
- Some significant indie collaboration with Santa Monica announced. Coming in 2017
- PSVR Release date and launch line-up confirmed. Includes RIGS, VR Worlds, Eve Valkyrie, Battlezone, etc.
- Montage footage of major upcoming VR games like Robinson, 100 Foot Robot Golf, and more
- Confirmation that Sony titles Gran Turismo Sport and Dreams will support PSVR. New footage of each is shown, both coming in 2017
- But Adam Boyes or whoever does the VR segment is like, "But wait! You won't have to wait until next year to play them." Announces beta dates for each. GT begins that day
- PSVR segment ends with the announcement of a Star Wars VR game exclusive to PSVR. Coming in 2017
- No Man's Sky final trailer
- Call of Duty gameplay and timed exclusive content revealed
- Montage footage of FFVII, FF Worlds, and FFXV. PlayStation is the true home of Final Fantasy. Some exclusive goodies are announced for XV on PS4
- Destiny 2 debut teaser. Coming in 2017
- PS4K officially announced and detailed/priced. They do the PR thing of swearing that normal PS4 owners aren't getting screwed
- God of War 4 announced with an epic trailer and gameplay footage. Coming in March 2017 alongside PS4K

Detroit, Gravity Rush 2, Ni No Kuni II, Drawn to Death, Edith Finch, and Hot Shots Golf are only shown in sizzle reels.

I think they'll save a Bloodborne sequel or whatever they're working on with From for TGS or PSX.

I think this E3 will be a lot better than last year. More substantial than just game teasers and announcements. We'll get concrete information on a number of titles releasing this year, and more actual gameplay demonstrations.

Nothing can beat E3 where Sony was about to launch the PS4.

Last year was super boring.

I'm hoping some kind of disaster happens would be hilarious.

A new Obsidian Fallout would blow my mind. I don't know though, since they're busy with Tyranny. Maybe a reveal next year, they can easily fill the Fallout slot while Bethesea Studios does ES6 and whatever else.

I am wondering what the chances of seeing anything at all about Cyberpunk 2077 beyond them maybe talking about it a bit. Something in-engine along with info about the mechanics would be amazing and I would be a happy camper.

NX, ME4, and Visceral's Star Wars will also be fun times.

Someone wished about Bayo 3 being exclusive to NX. Real talk, if they announce that for NX and say that it'll be BC with Wii U titles, they'll get a sale from me.

2018 would be waaaay too late for RE7. They've been working on that game for YEARS and IMO It should've been released by now. The same goes for Deep Down.

DMC5 at the other hand, I could see being a late 2018 release, since apparently they just started working on it recently. Though, if that's the case then I don't think we'll see it at E3.

Also, I don't see them making RE7 exclusive. That game is way too big and sales too much to be an exclusive.

No hype right now. Too busy trying to find a way to afford the games already announced, lol. Still, on the relevant list:

- Watch_Dogs 2
- WB Montreal's games
- Injustice 2
- Horizon's 2017 announcement
- Mass Effect: Andromeda
- Kingdom Hearts 3
- Ni no Kuni 2 info

A Red Dead game would be nice. I finally saw a friend playing that last year and it looked pretty awesome--I'd love to have a PS4 game come out.

Other than that, S-E's got a few things I'm interested in, the N-X is Nintendo's last chance for me personally caring about anything they do, and I'm always looking for new IP.

Maybe it it me, but I honestly get the feeling that this E3 is going to be more by the number than before.
Mostly due to the fact that there will be much more that has been said on items as of late that ever before, leaving little in the way of surprise.

At this point, I feel that Sony and the Playstation is spoken for.... It rather clear that with E3's proximity to the general public, that this show will likely be PSVR big showcase. I am expecting to see title after title for the add-on platform, which doesn't really have me all that excited. The only thing that worries me with all of that is the "PS4K", which has the likelihood of derailing Sony's VR celebration if handled wrong.

I have no real expectations for Microsoft... I can't say that I care for titles and frankly I get the feeling that they will concern themselves more with UWP and improving that platform. The sad part being that the stockholm syndrome of the PC gaming community will continue to be on full display as it improves.

Nintendo... The thing here isn't so much as I have expectations, with Nintendo it's generally wise not to have those. But it is more a matter of I expect them to not do things.
And even with The NX, it is rather safe to assume some things that gamers are expecting to not happen. The biggest one is a renewed focus on "the hardcore gamer"... that ship has sailed years ago, and I feel that the efforts to attract like-minded developers/publishers have been "phoned-in", at best. With their focus around the mobile market and developers/publishers (as well as the indie space), I can't see them caring all that much.
Assuming that we are looking at more than one device (which is likely), I expect to see the handheld first.... To be honest, if that is the case I expect to see only see the handheld, with more details of a console latter since I fully expect the launch to happen before the end of the fiscal year.
As fare as online goes, don't expect something equal to PSN/Xbox Live in functionality. I expect it to work and be stable, but voice chat? No. Extended buddy list beyond what is current... not really, and I don't think that it matters all that much. Free games? NOPE...I think that with Nintendo's latest exploits (Miitomo in particular), there are some things in the space that neither network is focused on that can be done. I don't expect Nintendo walk into this simply to match what other networks are doing completely simply because it would be the GC all over again... all the functionality with nothing that really makes it any different. And the company is rather animate on not entering an arm's race in the console market... what happens online will not change that.
I honestly have more thoughts on the matter of the NX, but... as I said, it more a matter of what isn't going to happen than is. And Gaf will not be pleased at most of it, since we are likely not the focus.

It's nice to dream.

Gut feeling says it'll be a complete disaster. Or it'll be amazing. It's as if my coin toss is on the edge of those two outcomes and just spinning still. Keeps spinning cause it's still not finalized. They are still hesitant; after all these years, after the miracles of last year, they are still hesitant and thinking business first. Let loose and unleash the flood gates this time when the time comes. Do not bullshit, do not waiver. Let. fucking. loose.

Well, I can't say Shenmue III anymore. Whatever happens, they'll never beat last year.

I'm hoping for more ReCore and Sea of Thieves, and I hope Microsoft have a few aces up their sleeve, because the lineup for Xbox One this year doesn't look that great.

Naturally, I expect Nintendo to show what NX is really about. I hope I'll feel a bit more excited than when they showed Wii U in 2011.

Here are some draft predictions:

If the new 3D Mario game is Galaxy 3 or equivalent in quality and scope (and single-player only), Nintendo wins E3 for me. To be honest, this is kind of Nintendo's E3 to either win or lose, and is unlikely to be on the middle of either extreme. If the console is good with some killer exclusives and support, they win easily. If the console is confusing or just bad, they lose easily. I honestly am leaning more towards them winning E3, as they still have a Retro game up their sleeve. Nintendo will be THE conversation topic of E3.

Sony will have a very solid press conference. A majority of time will be already-announced games, and most of the new games will be predictable, though high quality. There will probably be one or two shockers, though not quite as ridiculous as last year. JRPG content will take up a lot of time, and Persona 5 will be shown with an announcement for an August worldwide release date. PS VR will be pushed, and will have 1 killer new exclusive we didn't know about. Horizon Zero Dawn will have a slight downgrade that will cause huge drama.

Microsoft will be very solid. Scalebound and Crackdown 3 will be shown off, and they will look spectacular. Halo 6 will get a vague teaser that everyone will think was something else until the logo reveal. Sea of Thieves will look very cool, though there will be heavy skepticism. Conker or Banjo Kazooie will get a new game that is very safe and kind of bland, but will get praised a lot because it's better than the shit the fans were getting before.

Just about exactly why I'm going bonkers right now with Nintendo this year...a gut feeling they know they need to change their image with solid hardware that's easily underdtood by the gaming masses and excellent software outta the gate to match because I'm certain they've lost footing with some gamers. From Wii to Wiiu there's some discord in the public depending on how you viewed the consoles success or failures so it's sink or swim time to prove they're still relevant in many ways. I realize it's only anecdotal but I know many who jumped on the Wii only to feel burned in the end, they never even touched the U. I remain optimistic though, not because I think they're running away with the show...it's really because I think they're in a humbling position that demands change and I'm looking forward to seeing how agressive they are.(or aren't for that matter) Strange days for Nintendo ahead I think...

Really curious what 4A Games will show. Their previous games were reasonably decent shooters, had an fantastic and original setting and were graphical beasts. I'm pretty curious to see what they can do with current-gen hardware. Kinda expect them to blow us away. More importantly, they hinted they want to expand their games, towards a sandbox experience. Them making the same leap from Last Light to Metro 3 as Witcher did from 2 to 3 would be a dream come true.

Other then that, I wouldn't mind seeing a bit more of how Badlands will work, in-game footage of Dishonored 2.

This has just come around insanely fast, Doom and Uncharted next month and then E3 the month after that.

I really want to see some Mass Effect Andromeda footage, all the leaked info that has come out around that game has got me really excited. I want to know what that new Star Wars game is that Amy Henning is working on and I really hope you get to use a lightsaber it's been ages since a game came out with good lightsaber combat.

I'm curious to see more of FF7 remake and I hope Capcom show off the RE2 remake as well.

Might have to avoid Gaf soon, since so many leaks are beginning to fly . Want to be as shocked as possible.

Experiencing NeoGaf in the run up to E3 is where most of my joy from gaming derives from! :p That and Rocket League.

Don't deprive yourself. Speculation is King.

Apart from the Nintendo excitement, Id be surprised if we didn't see more of The Last Guardian.

I'll also stick my neck out and say Crash will be there, that or Knack 2

That would be a great show and is similar to what I was going to post.

I watched a stream on Dreams and they said their will be a Beta this year, so I think release will be 2017.

Any type of RD3 exclusive for Sony would melt the internet :) I could see RD3 custom console and some exclusive content.

No way an E3 conference this year will show anything for 2018, just to far out.

Would love for a Remaster of Ni No Kuni to come to PS4.

I fully expect minds to be blown.

Sony has their VR, Nintendo has their NX, but I'm curious as to what Microsoft will be showing off.

I want to see the return of the Nintendo World Championship, as that was a blast to watch last year.

Outside from that, I'm happy to see anything.

+1 ticket onto that hype train.
Provided I don't get banned again.

My wishlist:
  • New Assassin's Creed gets shown off and it's a glorious return to form.
  • Horizons gets a release date, along with an even better game play trailer.
  • New South Park RPG trailer has the best jokes.
  • Destiny 2 gets shown.

I am most looking forward to PSVR game announcements and also finding out what the NX is? Footage of Zelda will certainly rear it's head, and while I don't expect it, Half Life 3 will always be in the back of my mind.
