And the wheel stopped on the next virtue signaling celebrity - Adam Savage (Mythbusters)

Agreed.

This news is definitely weird, but so is publicly cancelling a grown ass man for something they did when they were a ten year old.

If it's true, he is very likely a psychopath and would almost certainly have continued that behavior to this day. Committing sexual violence at that age is a bigger red flag than torturing animals and burning things.

But there is no way to prove it, just his word against hers. Unless he or she talked about it to someone around that time period (unlikely either way) there is no evidence. Either way, I hope his sister gets help and support from someone because it sounds like she does not have her family behind her.

I'm never going to be able to watch another Mythbusters episode without thinking about this. Ugh.

I've been saying for years how people should be careful with the whole "Me too" movement. Women are just as capable of being trolls and enjoy ruining peoples life as men.

Screw him if true, but screw her if not.
His response was partially in the original article. The way he paints the picture from his perspective is that she has been a nuisance to the family for some time and that the family has accepted it. She has decided to take it to the next and ultimate step and he will fight tooth and nail on this.
Her perspective seems to be that she has told the family throughout her entire life and has been ultimately ignored. The family has outed her in place of him. Her truth has been silenced for too long and that she is tired of being ignored.
In this case, all I have to say is that my opinion has to be reserved for the case. There is no criminal case since this is outside of the statute of limitations so this civil case is all we can abide by.

I don't particularly care for Adam Savage... I think he's a virtue-signaling twat, but at the same time, I don't think we should "believe all women" either and believe that someone is innocent until proven guilty.

That said, I would not be all that surprised if this were true.

That's a very weird family dynamic. Considering he's a public figure if he had a batshit crazy sibling you'd think he would have taken steps to protect himself from her before now to avoid the exact situation he's currently in (assuming she isn't telling the truth, of course)

Yeah but family always complicates things far more for any scenario. I don't want to make assumptions since I have come across so many families that have defied traditional thought. I mean after all, there are incestuous families. I find that appalling but they obviously do not.

After checking out her website and reading her words, it seems more likely that her accusations may sadly be true. I've known several people who suffered sexual abuse as a child, and it is astonishing how often the families would rather ignore the situation entirely in an effort to avoid embarrassment rather than help the victim of the abuse.

Everyone should read her words. My heart breaks for her. :messenger_pensive:
