I am borrowing an Android phone from work and I installed all the Kairosoft free games on it (Hot Springs, Pocket League, etc). My mind is kind of blown away at how bad the marketplace is, there are no download/purchase rankings at all??? Really??????

I'm not sure what you mean by rankings. There's top free, top paid, top grossing, top new free, top new paid. That sounds like exactly that.

Yeah not really sure what you're talking about gaspode. There's Featured, Top Paid, Top Free, Top Grossing, Top New Paid, Top New Free within each category no less. Maybe your phone has some old version of Market or something.

edit: Yeah ok that's an old version. May be because it's a work phone or something it never got the push update. New version is totally different.

Weird, this phone just came out here in Japan, it's probably a market thing (hasn't been upgraded in Japan market), I think my Android ver is the latest

Didn't Minecraft come out? How is it with touch only controls? I assume it doesn't have fully fledged survival mode yet?

Yeah Android updates and Market updates are separate. I don't know the situation in Japan offhand though. Kind of a bummer.

Even on the market you have, which has a lot less categories, it still has Top Paid and Top Free (as well as Just In) when you get into a specific category in either apps or games.

i can't help but think that minecraft would get really annoying with it placing blocks when you're really just trying to move, or placing them in the wrong place.

Can anyone tell me how much of Jelly Defense's 49mb can get transferred to the SD card. Rocking a nexus one so am limited on space!
112kb on the phone... pretty massive IMHO

Try using a new Market.apk to update it. Http://db.tt/S0oXcr4

As far as Jelly Defense goes, I'm really tempted to buy it because of the price and style, but I usually get bored by tower defense titles. Would this be different?

Game closes back to home screen after I press play... Tell your co-workers to make a game that works!

And Jelly Defense is pretty awesome

What device are you using, I will ask about any known issues.

Also if you downloaded the HD version for a phone, it won't work. The HD version only works on Tablets.

You can also try contacting them http://www.squishyrevenge.com/ They are always looking for feedback

Thanks for the link, the new marketplace at least looks like something that not from the 90s.

Also, I agree on TD games. They bore me so very quickly. Even Anomaly: Warzone Earth, which is a tower offense game. Does this do something that doesn't make it an exercise in "who cares" maps and 95% repetition?

it's true, but sadly this is one of the attitudes that makes it so hard to enjoy developing for this market. I am as guilty as anyone else of perpetuating it - although I will still jump to shell out a buck or 2 (or 3) for something if it really sounds worthwhile (has really strong word-of-mouth, plenty of solid reviews, polished looking screens, etc) I do wonder how many people really share my attitude however.

This is fucking fantastic, so polished, amazing art style. For a buck or so fucking buy it now!

:)
Yeah, got this a few days ago. Absolutely fantastic.
I really love how the big monsters announce what kind of wave will come next so you can prepare and don't have to memorize 30 of them.
Plus the art is fan-fuckin tastic, as is the music. If you don't buy this for the current price you hate gaming.

Download the .apk file and install it. If you're on AT&T you may need to hook your phone up to your pc and sideload it.

For a noob like me explain this please. You mean hook it up to the PC with the USB cable it came with? Then what?

Any link on how to download/sideload or whatever, this is my first Smartphone/Android phone. And yes I'm on AT&T.

This is the apk file: http://db.tt/S0oXcr4

And this is the program I use to sideload: http://forums.androidcentral.com/android-sideload-wonder-machine/76171-android-central-sideload-wonder-machine-v-1-2-a.html

On AT&T you can also use sidloading to install stuff from the Amazon market. Bit of a hassle, but good for getting the freebies. You install the Amazon Appstore, then you can download apps onto your phone, but it won't install them ("For your safety"). Then you hook up your phone to your pc, enable usb sharing, and find the amazon folder on your phone. Copy the files over to your computer then you can use the sideloader.

I was already to pick up jelly defence, and do my bit for the android ecosystem. Unfortunately after buying it is couldn't download it as it told me I had 'insufficient space', which is strange as I have 1.5gb free.

These developers don't make it easy for me to give them my money!

Do you have 1.5 free on your device or on an SD Card? Odds are its trying to download to the device which doesn't have room.

I had same issue with Jelly Defense. Like .5 gb free on my phone and couldnt dl due to insufficient space. SD card has plenty of space. Eventually my order got refunded somehow, I guess there is some policy if you dont DL after X time it gets refunded?

1.5gb free on the device and there is even more gb on the sd card.

Looking through the comments on the Market it looks like its a common problem :(

I also got refunded a few hours later, which I was quite gutted about as Im sure they will fix that issue soon, but then it won't be 99p!! Hey ho.

Any idea what's going on with Minecraft Pocket? I saw the post about the big on Thursday but no word as to when or if they've been able to fix it.

Jelly Defense is 49MB. Some phones have annoying self imposed limits to how large of files you can download from the official android market. (Samsung Galaxy S for example is 30MB)

Many devs don't really know this and games that otherwise would run on the phone but can't be downloaded are marked as compatible.

Well, that explains my problem then!!

Jelly Defense crashes on my Epic 4G. :( Did I install the wrong version or something? I only have an hour before I can't refund it...
