I just got the Humble Bundle mainly for Cogs, which I already own on other platforms but just had to have it on my phone because it's that great. I was somewhat let down by the controls, they need a lot of fine tuning, and the presentation is unchanged from the other versions, tiny buttons and all, which makes it seem like a pretty lazy port.

By biggest treat out of the lot is Zen Garden 2, I knew nothing about it but was instantly enthralled. But the game seems to crash on half the levels I try, it doesn't seem random, because certain ones will work perfectly fine and certain ones will always just lead to a black screen that hangs there forever. Anyone else having this problem? I'm on an Xperia Play.

Can anyone tell me to get the Humble Bundle app to recognize the games from the first Bundle in January? It doesn't seem to be working for me. I go to 'add another bundle' and it gives me a code to enter on my PC to authorize. I do so and then back to add another bundle and it just does the same thing again and again. What am I doing wrong?

Are you entering the code on the download page of original Humble Bundle for Android?

I'm pretty sure there's some sort of code resending page on their website where you put in the email address you bought the bundle with and it resends your key.

Yep, right on the front page. It's not totally clear, but it resends all the keys tied to the email you input.

My Android game Total Pool is released, cheers to everyone who has given me feedback.

Enjoy!
Downloaded the free version and it has worked great, except for two bugs.

1st Bug: Sound efftects stopped playing but a restart of the app solved that.
2nd Bug: However I did another restart and it resulted in a black screen everytime after selecting to start a match, challange or the tutorial. The ads and menu keys and underlying options are all visible and working fine. Tried restarting the app but it didn't fix the problem, I had to reboot the phone to fix that bug.

I tried the game on my Galaxy S2, with Android 2.3.5.

Might even buy the game, got to think about if I can spare the change or if I have to pinch my pennies tight like a smålänning. When do you think you will be able to implement an A.I. opponent?

Ouch, cheers for the feedback.

This is possibly unavoidable by me, there seem audio bugs that spring up with libGDX and Samsung devices.

Woah, sounds like the same issue that the other guy had and I've never seen it myself. I will try staring at the code to see if I can work anything out!

Cheers, I'm sorry you've had such a shit experience with bugs, not really acceptable. I have the basics in place now for ai, it can evaluate and take shots, plus nominate, elect to rerack etc. However there is still the (big) matter of making it appear smart, fair and fun to play against plus some UI stuff (preview before it takes a shot). Then there is some testing. I hope to have it released in the first week of April, but of course can't commit to that. Hopefully I will have sorted out your bugs and there will be some audio improvements at the same time.

I know there was alot of talk about audio issues when the GS2 was release and suspected it was something to do with that. But it's, according to me, a very minor bug since a restart of the game fixes it. The other bug is annoying and more serious, mostly because a restart didn't fix it, only a reboot of the phone.

Hopefully it's a short bug hunt since I just bought the game :P

Awesome, so to make things clear, on the black screen bug.

The menu bar at the bottom is still visible.
The menu bar is still responsive.
The music is playing?
The game is working? (drag your finger around a bit and it should vibrate when a shot is played).

Also if you get it again could you try a force close of the game (in Manage Apps) rather than a reboot and let me know if you still have the problem?

Cheers!

The menu bar at the bottom is still visible. - Yes
The menu bar is still responsive. - Yes

The music is playing? - Yes, I can't remeber if the music was playing after I had started a challenge or match, will report back with that if I encounter the bug again. But before that, when choosing what to do, it was rocking that sweet tune (part of why I bought the game, something about it just felt right :P )

The game is working? (drag your finger around a bit and it should vibrate when a shot is played). - No, forgot to mention that in my post, my bad...

Great, thanks for this, it definitely sounds fairly easily fixable. I'll look into it soon.

OK Defender II is easily one of the best Android games out right now. Other than using the same graphics in the first one, it's a huge improvement over the first defender game mainly because the online play portion is quick and easy and it auto-matches you up with people of similar levels. You basically just try to survive the waves of enemies longer than they do and you earn xp, crystals, and gold for winning. You get a mini screen at the top right so you can see what kind of setup they're using.

Cheers! Good reviews are always welcome too :). I'm planning on supporting this heavily for while, working on the AI opponent now as it's by far the most requested feature.

Awesome. Bought this the other day after reading your piracy thread. Great game, really pleased to know you're working on an AI opponent.

Top stuff :)

Just wanted to say that in addition to the awesome Pool game by Friendlymon, I've also been playing a lot of Wind-up Knight. It's a really awesome auto-scrolling platformer by some ex-gaming industry guys (although are they still ex-gaming industry now? heh) everyone should at least check out. It's freemium, but the devs have put a lot of focus into tuning it so you can beat the game without purchasing any upgrades "if you're hardcore enough."

My only wish is I could play it with buttons (Galaxy Nexus here.) Even still, after getting used to it for a bit I can do OK.

Hmm, not having much luck with this. Do you remember what was on the menu bar below the black screen? Did it still say "Play"? When you exited to the menu did you have to press the back button then press "exit" or did it just back out with a press of the back button?

Cheers.

Also I randomly got featured on xda android, led to a nice big bump of players

Thanks for the tip, I enjoyed the original! This doesn't really feel like a proper sequel though, but more like an updated and more polished version with some new features. Most of it looks, feels and plays exactly the same. But I'm not gonna complain about a better version of an already good game!

The online feature is cool, but I'm pretty sure it isn't "real" online play. I am always immediately matched up with someone when I try, so my guess is that you're simply playing against recordings of previous matches (and someone else will play against your recording later, etc.). Since you're never directly interacting with your opponent this works fine.

Yeah that's probably true. The game could have really used visual update. I understand that they want to maintain the same simple gameplay but so far I've seen the same enemies as in the first one. Additional various types of enemies is what the game is missing IMO.

The menu bar and all icons there was fully functional, nothing was missing as far as I know. Everyting worked like it should, the graphics were there in the background when I launched the game until I started a match or challenge, then you had a black screen instead of a pool table. I could go back and forth to the main menu or choose the achievement list or options. I didn't exit out of the game using the back button, only the in game menu keys.

It was like the game just forgot that it was supposed to show the pool table part of the game.

Hmm... don't know if I have explained it well, but just ask if something is unclear and I will try to do better.

Sorry I was talking about the on-screen back button. In a match/challenge there's an extra step to exiting where you have to press the back button, then confirm with "exit game" to stop accidental exits. Knowing whether you had to do this step would tell me whether the game had made it to the game screen (but not faded up) or was still in the menu (but faded down). The other option could be to do with the camera position or something, but in this case I would expect a very dark grey screen and the top bar (saying "break" or whatever) to be showing.

Your game is awesome and quite lovely, having no issues on the S2!

Will buy it later tonight when I'm on wifi. Keep up the good work.

Just curious, what do the AA options do? Haven't noticed much with them on or off.

I used the on-screen back button and then pressed the confirm exit button. I haven't encountered the bugs again, is there something in the free version that differs from the payed version (since I got the bugs in the free but have yet to encounter them in the payed one).

Anyways, keep up the good work and congrats on the mention on XDA.

Thanks a lot, and thanks for pointing out that issue. At the moment it does absolutely bugger all! It's an easy fix but will have to wait for the next build. I've also made it clearer that this will only take effect after a restart.

Thanks for all the info, hopefully I've fixed it incidentally or you were just extremely unlucky. There are very few differences between the two, aside from the orientation of the game and the adverts obviously. Thanks for buying it
got into this thread by curiousity, ended buying this app :)

keep up the good job !
Thanks a lot, plenty more to come.

Here's a very early sneak peek at 2 AI players against each other in a game of Nine Ball.

My bad, didn't know it was mentioned before. AI looks ace.

Snuggle Truck and the original Smuggle Truck are now in the Humble Android Bundle.

Whoa, perfect!

I'd never thought that I say something like this but...They need to be fed is just a handy game but also an excellent jump'n run. It's really high quality.

What is the legality in illegitimately downloading an apk file for a free game?

The same applies whether or not it's a paid app. I expect the downloader assigns a different weight to the infringement, but I think it boils down to the same thing legally.

There's more of a risk of malware for the user though, so I'm not sure why anyone would choose to pirate a free app.

Some free apps label themselves and incompatible with your phone on the Android market even though they're not. I can no longer play Tiny Tower for this reason until I find an apk file of the latest version.
