Android Gaming Thread New OP

Odd... I scanned my phone with Avast! (phone version) and it said that the game DOOORS was a trojan/virus? I got the game on the Play Store.

HMM...

Doesn't support Gnex then. Android support is patchy, I can't get that mass effect game posted above on my Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, wth.

EA are pathetic. Neither game supported on the SGS3. One of them supported on the SGS2 but not the SGS3 (this makes even less sense). They are the worst Android publisher by an extremely large margin.

No exaggeration here, they are absolutely terrible. Worse than Gameloft by far.

I've just posted an update to my first Android game (well, in the last week, was waiting for Apple to catch up before I said anything).

It's called Treasure Sails!, It's a logic / puzzle game I've been working on for a while now. This is my first self published game so I wanted to get my head around the mechanics before I expand it out into something more complicated (SRPGS are an eventual goal).

I'd love to get some feedback from people, it's .99 (pre-tax) cents USD and should be available in just about every territory for ARMv7 + phone running 2.2 or higher.

Out of curiousity, can american users see the longest day sale on the front page of play.google.com? I can't in New Zealand, but then again we're heading into the shortest day here so maybe they blocked it regionally.

it is one of the rotating banners here (actually it starts with this banner), completely in Portuguese, and here is also the shortest day (Brasil) :-)

Is Robot Unicorn Attack good?

edit
Same question for Monsters Ate My Condo.

Totally unbiased answer: YES.

Actually for Robot Unicorn, depends what Android device you have. If you're running ICS, I can't recommend buying it right now — it force closes after the title screen. (We're working on a fix!)

Monsters Ate My Condo is completely awesome on Android though. Love it on the Galaxy Note, I gotta say.

RUA is fun but it's not really any different from the millions of "runner" platformers that exist on Android/iOS these days, except for the funny visual style and annoyingly catchy theme. Try the browser version on the Adult Swim website if you're curious - the mobile versions are the same thing.

MAMC is definitely worth it. I'm enjoying it the more I play it - there's a lot more strategy and skill to it than I thought when I first tried it.

I just ordered a new phone, if I buy stuff off here will I be able to re-download it to my new phone when it arrives? What's Google's policy on that?

I haven't done this myself, but my understanding is that your apps aren't tied to your devices, just your google account. As long as the account you used to buy those apps is the primary google account on your new phone, you should be able to redownload stuff you already own to the new device.

They're tied to your google account. Other than apps that might not be supported on your new phone you should be alright.

I think where there is sometimes trouble is companies that have their own additional license drm. There's definitely some horror stories in the ratings section of some companies games (EA for one).

Yes. I really love Monsters Ate My Condo. I've not got Robot Unicorn Attack on anything but the version on the website is good fun.

Bought Monsters Ate My Condo. Fun game, I like it a lot.

What makes even less sense is no support for the HTC One X. At least the S3 is fairly new to the market - the One X has been around for a while now. Whether it's an ICS issue or a decently specced phone issue, EA need to start paying attention.

I played Block Story because of some recommendation list in this thread. It takes the Minecraft ripoff thing a bit too far, some of the sounds are lifted verbatim from Minecraft, including one of the music pieces (the graphics are different though). Other than that the promised RPG elements don't amount to much, sure there's more enemy types but combat is just "point at enemy until dead". Also item durability is terrible, swords, picks, etc only get 10 uses per craft. And once you've finally dropped an enemy to maybe 25% health it starts running away really fast and you gotta chase him to finish him off. Plus enemies only spawn on spawners so an area will always have the same few enemies and depending on luck you may not see any at all or get very high level ones near the spawn. Oh and chunk loading is very slow and obvious.

I don't like this trend of games being 50mb and more. I only have about 30mb free at ony one time on my phone. I'd prefer a little installer that downloaded the rest to my sd card.

mass effect runs fine on GS3 ... publisher just needs to pull finger and update the apk so it recongnises the phone model i guess.

i just downloaded the apk and the data comes down sweet.

fucked up though. i actually brought it via the store becuase it recognized the game for download to my tablet ... but i had flashed a new rom to that so it never came down. brilliant.

if they dnt wanna make it easy just torrent it

Android store is such a piece of shit. It won't let me download that Strikefleet game because of an insufficient space error even though I have 2 gb's free. How do I solve this shit? Before I rooted my phone I could revert back to the original store and download that way but now I can't do that because the basic store is the newest one.

Any other solution for this shit would be appreciated. Fucking Google.

Seems really nice. Wondering how long it'll be before the money needs to be handed over for it. I'd be happy to pay $5 to unlock the entire game at this point, but from the feel of it it's gonna be a "F2P" model game :-(

I'll let you know if I get far enough into the campaign, lol.

I'm repeating this as a kindness to those who havent played it yet. Go play Star Traders elite, like right now. There is no better game on android and it may be my most favorite SP game of the last few years.
