Any really good plataformer for andrpid? Or maybe a mtroidvania game would be awesome

I don't know how late I am to the party but I just got Triple Town and I'm absolutely hooked on this game.

It's nice but there is a weird item limit it seems. But the "unlock unlimited turns" button worked for me, funnily enough.

Kind of, Apple has Game Center and Open Feint is on iOS and Android. Game Center is closest to the "X360 experience" I'd say.

Triple Town is kind of fun but man it drains my battery really fast. Faster than any app I've used to date.

What are you supposed to do when those flying ninjas show up? The only way to deal with them is wait around for a bot to show up or spend coins to buy one?

Google really needs to implement their own Game Center equivalent. Open Feint works pretty poorly in my Android experience so far and no 3rd party system is ever going to be as widly adopted as Gamce Center has been on iOS. I find it pretty sad that some ports from iOS I've seen don't even have online leaderboards on Android, Hard Lines being a notable one.

It's not just the leaderboards and achievements, but Game Center also makes it much easier for developers to implement things like online multiplayer and matchmaking too, since much of the hard stuff gets taken care of by Game Center (at least that's my understanding from developer comments I've read). This is likely why so many titles lose the multiplayer when ported to Android.

Gem Miner 2 is out! I spent many hours on the first one so I was pretty hyped to see it up on the Android Store. There is a basic tutorial you have to go through but after that the game is divided into two modes, expedition and free play. Expedition is basically a bunch of challenge levels with set goals. After working through the first several I had my fill. I'm sure I'll go back after I get sick of free play which is where I know know I'll be spending most of my time.

One of the things that bothered me about the first game was that beating it simply required the player to put in the time. I never had an issue with hazards or funds. The sequel seems to have addressed that, so far anyway. I already had to reset my game due to poor planning and wasteful use of ladders. I'm still very early in the game so it's hard to tell if it's going to keep the challenge up. But I'm enjoying it so far. The new controls are ok but I still end up picking in the wrong direction from time to time. Needless to say turning off your pick on the way up is required. I like how water works in the game and it's effect on your stamina.

If you liked the first this is a must buy!

Sorry if this has been asked a million times...

I just an Xperia Play, but most of the good games are also available on my iOS kit. What are the best exclusive Android games?

I noticed a Minecraft Pocket Edition update earlier this morning (8am EST). They added survival (sort of), doors, tools, mobs, and more. So far the only mobs I've seen are zombies and sheep. It's still missing things like crafting, beds, ore, etc. Worth looking into if anyone hasn't touched the game in a while.

There's an extremely short list of notable titles that can only be played on android. Afterall, you'd have to be crazy to be a mobile dev and completely ignore the much more lucrative iOS App Store.

I guess you should just enjoy the fact that you can play some of those games you already like with physical buttons.

Oh, sounds good. Will take a look some time later. Bought it when it was 10cent only and haven't touched it since.

Thanks. Worlds that were created earlier apparently is set to Creative mode.

You should really check out some emulators. PSXPeria for PSX games, N64oid, SNESoid and GENsoid too. There's a Unity Engine port of Counter-Strike in development that you can play. There's also SCUMMVM for old adventure games which is good if you're into those sort of games.

N64oid doesn't support mapping to the Xperia's ''analogue' touch pads yet, but the developer has said that it's coming soon. There's another N64 emulator which does support the pads, but the speed is too low to achieve 60fps at the moment.

Monderncombat 3 up on the samsung store for free at the moment ..... god, dont know why i keep bothering to download FPS games .... shit just doesn't work on smartphones.

no sticks = no control.

It's a pretty bad game, and the controls are the moldy icing on the burnt cake. Surprisingly, there's a decently active online player base, despite the fact that the game is glitchy (or the servers are) and you will more likely than not lose the progress you've made in a session. It's very funny.

Damn, the Android version of Duke Nukem 3D is just terrible. I downloaded it because it was free, and promptly deleted it after playing for about 30 seconds. The touchscreen controls in that game are SO HORRIBLE. I found it utterly unplayable.

The only game, 3d like, that did controls well is Dead space imo. But even then its still the biggest problem with the game, and smart phones in general.

Buttons bitch!

I just hate games that have those 'controls' on the screen, it just doesnt work. I mean your hand takes up like half the screen >.>

A new game for Mobage came out today, it's called Rage of Bahamut (no affiliation to Square Enix as far as I know) https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mobage.ww.a692.Bahamut_Android
It looks pretty cool.

Yeah, it's decent. Gets really hard by level 30 even on easy mode.

And beware of terrible battery drain even if you close the app. Have to clear your RAM as well to prevent it (at least I do on my Samsung Galaxy S running 2.3)

i got a samsung galaxy tab 7.0 plus from my brother as a gift and WOW does android gaming suck. i got dweller and riptide gp. is there anything else that doesn't suck*?

* anything with a virtual d-pad sucks, just as it does on other touch-only platforms.

Drinky, it´d be easier if you´d state what kind of game you´re looking for.
Without preference I´d recommend Jelly Defense, Anomaly Warzone, Shadowgun, Settlers.

Put a controller on your tablet and you'll change your mind.

If you attempt this make sure your tablet is compatible.
Freaking rocks planning emulators, and other games that use the input.

Why are all the games so much more expensive on android compared to iOS. They are the same games for heavens sake. iOS apps have sales all the time but there are almost none for android.

Between Amazon App Store's free app of the day, GetJar app store's free apps, and Google's Christmas sale last year, pretty much every good paid app has been available for free or really cheap.

One of the biggest problems with the Android market thus far is the lack of true good organization like the Appstore has. It has gotten wayyyyy better since I got my first Android device a year and a half ago, but there's still room for improvement. Featured items and sales come to mind. We already have both but it still needs to be improved, with something like a featured section for every sub section would be nice if you ask me.

With that being said, definitely keep an eye on Amazon's Appstore for the free app of the day every day, as well as keeping an eye out for sales on the featured section of the market or threads like this.

Smaller userbase with easier piracy.

Though this also results in more devs having ad supported free versions of their full games.

Disgaea Netherworld Unbound? I can't link, cos I'm on my phone, but this is available on Samsung App store. And Espgaluda? For free? The fuck?

The only Espgaluda game that I can see in Samsung apps is Espgaluda 2, and isn't that just free during the 2 minute trial? I would love to be wrong about that so please tell me that I am :p

Anyone tried The Lost City? Looks like a good game but can't really tell.

What about The Oregon Trial? A lot of reviews say it keeps crashing.

I really wanted to try Oregon Trail but there are so many reviews that talk about how the game is nearly impossible to finish without buying in game items (with real money of course). That really makes me not want to bother.
