You guys should be aware that this game is, by all accounts, a quickie port of the iPhone version. This is what it looks like on my Galaxy S3:

I didn't add those black borders, that's literally what it looks like. The game doesn't scale for screen size at all. I can only imagine how crap it looks on something like the Nexus 7.

Also, it's laggy in the overworld and in towns. Which it shouldn't be, since I'm using a top-of-the-line phone.

I hope they fix it soon - I missed the 15 minute refund period :(

IIRC go to market.android.com and you still might be able to refund it within a longer time period.

That is really poor though :-(

Cool FF I on Android. Not really happy with the borders though so I'll wait to buy it until it gets fixed. Does FF III have this issue? Wonder how long until FF II and the other games come along.

Whens pocket planes coming out >.<?

Also, will it do the stupid thing where it pops up notifications to remind you to buy shit like Tiny Towers did on android >.> Its why I uninstalled it...

But you can turn the notifications off since the last update :3

What do you mean? The cash you earn from the coins and cards you collect allow you to buy new equipment.

Edit: OK I see what you mean about being able to move to the next chapter. You need 1200 notes and I have 981 after having an A ranking on all the levels in the first book and getting an A on the preview level. This is just sad... lol. Damn you freemium! So essentially to play the whole game for free you have to earn a perfect score on everything and like them on Google + and Facebook. What a joke...

I had bought some equipment as I thought that replaying levels gives you additional coins, which wasn't the case.

Nonetheless, you are able to get all four books without paying money and without perfecting all levels. Perfecting not all levels means that you still need to get a perfect on most levels.
I actually re-started the game to be able to see the other worlds then.

One book costs 1200 coins and you are able to get up to 1300 coins per book. I'm now in book 3 and I think I stop playing the game now because it requires me to double tap a touch button for double jumps, which is absolutely annoying. They should've included gamepad support, other free games can be played with the Wii Remote too :D

It's been on the Square Enix Market for quite a while now, don't think it'll ever be updated but hopefully they'll prove me wrong. (also FFII, Chaos Rings I & II and a few others is on their market too (JP only))

Aw man, what am I getting into...

A friend of mine tried to persuade me buying a Nexus 7 instead of a 3DSXL, in my case I already have a standard 3DS and I don't have any laptop. I wasn't really interested, but then:

I saw this...

Then this...

And then this. I mean...fuck, shit even runs MAME...

Gotta say, This look like a powerful little thing. since I'm the kind of guys who adore testing/playing emulators, this could be a nice little device to play my games on the go. Any GAFers tried it with emulators and confirm the awesomeness I'm seeing in those videos? I even saw some PS1 emulators but those weren't that much stable, but the thing just came out, so I guess there is a lot of place for progress.

There was this video going around where a guy was using his vita to play Left 4 Dead. Is there something out there that would let me do this with Android? Like running a game on my PC but streaming the video to my android phone or tablet?

Check out OnLive for Android. I don't know how it is for tablets but it works flawlessly in my Xperia Play, SSFIV AE on the go FTW.

There are remote desktop apps, not sure any of them would be fast enough to game with, though.

Emulation on Android is pretty shit. Most of the decent emulators cost money, and the rest are incredibly buggy and have incredibly shitty compatibility, as well as the paid ones. Get a PSP of some kind if you want emulation on the go for 40 bucks.

Well, specifically for my case, its either this or a laptop. Those NES/SNES/GEN/64 emulators seems to not be that bad in these videos though. I don't mind paying for the app if its the best available and still in development, though if the best one aren't available I don't see any problems rooting mine, I heard it was pretty easy. I love looking at these projects progressing with time. PS1 emulation on the other hand really seems to need some work, but I have no problem waiting for it to get better.

Anybody got the Nexus 7 and tried some of those? I'm really curious with this one. :)

Emulation ain't that bad. They could be better sure but NES/GBC emulation works perfectly on my Arc. N64 is a whole other matter though, Mario 64 is just about the only thing that runs at playable speeds.

Sooo I have a question. I have had an android phone for a little over a year and a half now. I'm eligible to upgrade my phone at a discount price coming up in September.

I've wanted more games to be released on Android that I would actually buy, and with the release of FF1, and FF3, I'm tempted to actually buy one of these. But if I get another phone soon, I feel like the point would be lost.

Can games bought from the play store be transferred to another phone/device if I get another android? Cuz I'd hate to buy games on my current phone, when I have won't be using this phone in a couple months.

The games are tied to your Gmail account. They, and any apps purchased, will follow you to any android phone you acquire. The only thing that WON'T follow is the saved data. That is, unless you have a rooted phone and root the new phone and use something like Titanium Backup. When you get a new phone and plug in your Gmail information it will mention something about syncing with the servers to backup your data, contacts, etc. Once everything is activated it will automatically start downloading your apps you had installed on the previous phone. Even the are free ones.

You're completely talking out of your ass. Emulation on Android has been pretty great for me as long as I've used it.

I concur. SuperGNES and MD.Emu have served me well. Of course the good emulators are paid apps, emulators don't just port themselves.

And even if it doesn't auto download all your apps (which sometimes happens for some reason) your apps are still all there. Just pull up the store on the device or your PC and you can download em. It's actually quite nice. You never really have to think about it at all. You own that content now essentially.

With these ports I'm always wondering whether it's a legit port or just some pirates porting it and cashing in. The game's full name was Z Steel Soldiers, you'd think an official port would get the trademark right.

Totally misread the "5 HIT" in the screencap. Though I think it would be more realistic of a thing to say when facing a monster like that.

Guys, is there any good SRPG on Android? Preferably tablet-friendly.

I posted it in the thread earlier, but I like Battle of Wesnoth. It's the only SRPG with staying power and enough depth for me, and it has new content all the time through community mods. The PC version allows for multiplayer, so maybe in the future we'll see that for mobile as well.

So I just discovered the magic of Game Dev Story, fuck me I haven't been this addicted to a mobile game since the first Advance Wars on the GBA. What an awesome way to execute an awesome idea.

Download the other games too. I'll see you next week.

After one Kairosoft game you played them all so just stop after Game Dev Story.

It's really not worth another purchase.

I was going to PM the OP of this thread, but it seems he's banned. I'd like to add one more "gaf-made" game to the thread:

Graffiti Heaven: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.JAIGCO.GH

I developed this game with some friends in a university course. It didn't do so well up until now. If you'd like to try the game, please send me your feedback! We still don't have a free version, but remember you can try the app for 15 mins without committing.

Sounds like a game I might like, will try.

You know that game years back where you scanned barcodes and it gave you monsters to battle other dudes? Is there a game like that for iOS or Android?

There is. I don't remember what it's called, but I know there is.

Actually just looked, Codemon.
