Depends on the wallpaper yeah, most of the dont have much impact, because you dont spend alot of time just looking at them really >.<

Anyone know why this is happening?

I keep getting app notifications from ATT or something stating some new game that I would never buy. Would love to disable it, but have no idea where its coming from

Sounds like a spam app. If you are on Jelly Bean long press on the notification and it will let you go to the app menu that is causing it.

Otherwise, I think you have to start guessing and deleting any shady apps.

Im currently on ICS.

I'll try the long press anyway. If that doesn't flush out the culprit, ill just start deleting apps one by one in reverse chronological order.

very annoying I must add

thanks a ton. i still haven't realized what is causing the issue. I'm going to try both of those apps to see what is making my phone do this.

appreciate the feedback

Looks like that first one did the trick. It was precisely the program I anticipated was causing the issue but it wouldn't let me uninstall it. Air Pusher let me deactivate it, then uninstall it. Took about 30 seconds.

God send indeed. Thanks a lot

What app was it? Out them.

It was the Bit.Trip I got from 4 shared. Not necessarily saying the game does that from the Play Store. Could have just been something the uploader added.

I don't remember my Bit.Trip Beat copy from my humble android indie bundle 3 do this.
If you want to try that version pm me. I would be happy to help

You should really buy games like that. They are incredibly affordable and even included in the humble bundles from time to time.

And there you go.

Banned poster's behavior was particularly difficult to understand given that the game involved was, I believe, part of the latest Humble Bundle.

Wait, so he got banned for saying that he pirated it?

Anyway to get the free apps from Amazon without a CC? I can't do it from the online store either. Trying to sent it to my A100.

N/M, needed to use the account on the tablet.

So I'm pretty sceptical of edutainment games; I've seen a bunch of them and I've seen kids playing a bunch of them and having fun (or not, in the case of the worst of them) but not actually learning any transferrable skills from said games. Like games intended to help kids with reading and writing issues; they play the game just fine but after clicking on the train carriage that has the "A" in it for 10 minutes they still can't reliably write an "A" on paper - or in some cases even identify hand-written "A"s.

So, sceptical.

I just discovered DragonBox. Its basic premise is to teach kids the basic tricks to algebra. And I reckon it might actually work. Not only is it a bunch of fun, and challenging in places, but at the end of it the devs provide some solid advice for transferring the skills learned in the game to actual algebra on paper.

not sure if it's posted yet, but Gameloft's Modern Combat 3: Fallen Nation is free for Galaxy S3 owners on the Samsung Apps store.

http://www.samsungapps.com/topApps/topAppsDetail.as?productId=G00009279611

it's basically an FPS that looks pretty decent and has voice-acting and all that. but it still boggles my mind how people play FPSes on their android phones, left thumb for movement, right thumb for both aiming and pressing the shoot button means i stand around fumbling and getting shot to death :(

Been waiting to catch Where's My Perry cheap, and there's now a free version up on the Amazon Android App Store. Probably on Google Play too. Will play tonight when I get back from work.

Downloaded, thanks!

Banned from GAF for being too cheap to spend 1 cent on 4 games.

And he would've gotten the PC, Linux, and Mac versions as well. I paid $1 just to have Bit.Trip Beat on Steam early on and got World of Goo and 6 other games as well. I consider the Android versions of those games to be a bonus, since I'm not much of a handheld gamer. Even if I already owned the Steam versions of these games, I would've paid the penny just to have DRM-Free versions and a version for Android. And this money goes to charity! There is no excuse.

I just got my first Android tablet and was looking for recommendations regarding what games I should play on it.

How are the Kairosoft games on a tablet? I've played most of the ones on iOS using my iPhone, but I'm really interested on getting the ones on Android that I've yet to play.

Also, I was wondering whether games sometimes drop in price or go free like on iTunes.

Off the top of my head: Osmos HD, Grabatron, Zombro, Rebuild, Strikefleet Omega, Auralux, Tsuzp! (even tho they're still developing it it's a fun game.)

Zen Pinball THD is nice too on Play Store. The first table is FREE!!!. I recommend the Excalibur table (0.79€ as DLC)

Google does do a Sale from time to time.

Amazon store do the free app thing. but you need an American IP to enter the Amazon App store.

I really wish Zen Pinball wasn't Tegra only. My Galaxy S3 would totally be able to run it but I'm not allowed to download it on the Play Store because of the Tegra exclusivity. If you're not on a Tegra device get Pinball Arcade.

I would recommend Kairobotica because it's awesome and Android exclusive right now. Not sure how it plays on a tablet but I imagine it works fine.

Thanks for the recommendation everyone!

Awesome! Noob question though: So if I paid for this, do I get a code to input at the Play Store? How does Google know I paid for it so I could download it?
You get APKs to install directly. Or you can install their Humble Bundle app (itself a free APK) and then download the apps you bought from within that app. You just need to establish an account with them and then register your purchase keys.

It's all independent of Google and the other app vendors.

Android, unlike iOS or Windows RT, can allow for apps outside of the Google Play ecosystem. The website gives instructions on how to download the Humble Bundle app easily, which will help you get your games.

The fact that you don't have to buy apps from Google Play is what makes Android better as an OS to me, personally.

I am having a privacy issue downloading &99 of any Android app or game: the download process shows you the warnings/notifications before downloading something. A 'popular' one is giving the ap permission to not only get your phone number, but also copying ALL the numbers on your contact list! WTF?!

I checked some of the games suggested here and almost all of them have that. Nobody else is bothered by giving away all your contacts including your own just like that?

What permission is that? I usually check permissions and I have not seen many games that have any permission related to your phone number or contact list.

Some fuckers have stolen my screenshots...

...to pedal their shitty ad thing (pretty sure there's no actual game there and they've paid for the 5 star reviews)...

...and what's worse they have 200,000 downloads from it, sort this shit out Google.

Glad to see that! I downloaded total pool when you first put it out on your market, and it's definitely one of my most played games. (getting paid at least 1 hour of work a day to play your game on the toilet).
Thanks a lot, although maybe you have a problem.

Starting work on a new game a couple of weeks ago, but will return to Total Pool for some updates soon.

Any info about when is gonna be released "The Curse" on android. It's been a week since it's release on iOS.

Any other puzzle games recomendations for android? Something like the Prof. Layton ones for NDS.

I... I gave in... I got Angry Birds for my Android device... It was free on Amazon and... I enjoyed what I played of it in the Google Chrome app menu....

It's not that angry birds is a bad game, it's fun but I certainly wouldn't compare angry birds to games you can play on your consoles or pcs.

So I got the Humble Bundle and I'm really liking Fieldrunners. Osmos seems like it'll be a relaxing experience from what I've played so far. SpaceChem is really confusing.

Also, I noticed that some of the games I got from the Bundle is registered with the Play Store, while others have not. Will this be a problem?
