How's Gameloft's history is fixing game-breaking bugs? None of their games, 2D or 3D, works on my stock EVO 3D since updating to ICS.

The Curse is released on android $0.99/0.77€

My most played games currently: Ski Safari, Strikefleet Omega, Virtua Tennis

Major Mayhem is still great, but I a little bored of it for now. I'll probably start playing world of goo, Osmos HD, and some RPGs on the SNES emulator later. Dead Trigger I play occasionally.

Does EA hate Android or something? I got a download code for a free EA Android game from another Gaffer so I chose Plants vs. Zombies as I've never played it.

I downloaded it and automatically closes before it even loads to the title screen. It seems this is a problem for ICS Jellybean across different Nexus devices. The version EA gave me was 1.34, so I downloaded another version off of another site, version 1.00, and it works just fine =/ I don't know what the problem is.... I'm using a Samsung Nexus S by the way.

It is pretty great, but also very short and very easy. I finished all the levels during the commercial breaks of a movie (or maybe two) I was watching on TV one night last week, and the next day I very quickly perfected the last few I didn't yet have 3 apples on. I really enjoyed it while it lasted, and don't regret buying it, but it was over way too soon.

My current favorite Android games are Virtua Tennis Challenge and Super Monkey Ball 2, which are very solid mobile adaptations of the two franchises. Sega is quickly becoming one of my most respected Android developers/publishers; they seem to be taking the platform seriously, unlike hacks like EA.

Yeah, where is this store exactly?

Would have been nice for people to mention these things since we discussed for the quite a little while it was on sale. Also, are you guys sure that it's the full version of virtua tennis in the samsung store and not the free version? There's also a free version in the play store. Lastly, it doesn't matter that I have the Verizon Nexus does it?

Only Samsung's own phones (Galaxy S 1-2-3, etc) have access to the Samsung Store. The Nexus isn't really a Samsung phone; it's a Google phone made by Samsung.

Virtua Tennis Challenge seems to indeed be free, but it's only available for the S3 and the Note 2: http://www.samsungapps.com/topApps/topAppsDetail.as?productId=G00009137780

Just wanted to stop by to say that I picked up an N7 last week and have been getting familiar with it. Rooted and have messed with a number of different custom roms (my favorites right now being Bugless Beast and AOKPJBv2), and have a number of my console controllers set up for gaming use. Great tablet, Jelly Bean - especially tweaked - is like butter, and the games run great. Haven't delved in too deeply, but I'm already seeing a lot in this thread that looks good. I do have iOS devices too, but am an equal opportunist when it comes to gaming. :) Thanks for this thread.

I could use a new time killer, Dead Trigger is a bit too clunky to be fired up for quick games (doesn't survive being minimized to do other things, missions take a while to do) and Kairobotica's special levels move too damn slooooooooooow.

Just ordered an S3, having somewhat buyers remorse when I see this thread compared to the iOS one, but I'll still have my iPad for that. Am I also right in thinking even the iPhone 4 is better graphically than the Galaxy S3?

Anyway... still excited to be receiving my phone later, and despite the buyers remorse I'm still glad to be out of Apple's clutches (for now) - so I'm wondering, are there any good Android exclusive games I should check out that wouldn't have been available to me before?

Was impressed to see games like Dead Trigger, Real Racing 2 etc on the Android store, but after something that wouldn't have been available to me before :)

Thank you

The obvious advantage that Android has over iOS in terms of gaming is probably in emulators. Also check out the Android indy bundles if one's running at the moment.

Oh yes, thank you! Some of the Android Indy bundles have been fantastic, and I've always been a bit disappointed I've never had a device to play them on.

Complete longshot, but is there any chance whatsoever than Playstation Mobile will be available on the Galaxy S3? Would the hardware even be capable?

Pretty sure the hardware is more than compatible in terms of specs, but I've never seen the requirements for Playstation Mobile. If they have "D-Pad and 4 buttons" as a requirement the S3 is toast of course.

What do you mean by that? But no, the S3 is much stronger in any front.

Music game heads up: O2Jam U just launched on the Play Store.

Oh wow, I didn't even know O2Jam was still around. Hopefully this will keep me satisfied while I wait for ReRave Android to finally come out. Thanks!

And to Lonely1's point, the S3 has way better specs than both the 4 and the 4S. The only advantage the 4/4S has is that it has a larger pixel density than the S3 due to the smaller screen, which is why some games might look a little sharper on the IPhone.

Technically, it's quite superior, but from playing around with a number of games on a friends S3, the actual performance SEEMS pretty poor despite the great specs.

60 fps gaming has finally become fairly common on iOS, but Android doesn't seem to be there at all just yet.

Which games do you say show the more stark difference? Anyway, I do know that Nova 3, GTA and Shadowgun run better on my GNote than on an iTouch 4.

Well technically I think the s3 blows the ip4 away, but a lot of developers tend to develop games to look better on ios than on Android. One example is Real Racing 2. Looks worse on my s3 than on my brother's ipod touch 4. It runs better though

To somewhat answer my question, I've just trawled through this thread and found:

All look fantastic, and seem to be Android exclusives :) Great thread, if a little quiet!

If you like Star Traders RPG, I highly recommend that you check other the other two Trese brother games, Templar Assault and Cyber Knights RPG. The games aren't exactly the same, but they are all very fun, and all of these games have very long, comprehensive free versions that you can try before you buy.

These guys are very active in their community and love their games so they update them constantly. I've had Star Traders RPG for over a year now and I get a new (substantial) update for it every week or two.

In my opinion Star Traders RPG is their best, but it's also the game that's been out the longest so they've been able to refine it. In time, I think all three of their games will be equally awesome.

I want to like O2Jam U but I really, really don't like the pay-per-play model, especially since replaying songs to get better is pretty much a core concept of any music game. I'm fine with spending money, but my phone isn't an arcade machine - if a song is downloaded to my device I want to be able to play it any time I want. There doesn't even seem to be a simple way to permanently buy songs. Ugh. It really rubs me the wrong way.

Edit: AND it has push notifications that I can't seem to turn off! Seriously considering uninstalling it due to all the bullshit. Which is a shame because it's actually a pretty good game.

Just got my S3. So many games. I can see why cell phone games have become a threat.

Are the Modern Combat games any good?
Also any recommendations for someone who is new to the Android market?

They are nearly unplayable due the controls imo. And I can tolerate Nova 3.

What's the best freemium building games? One where action is calculated in minutes and hours and meant to be played in short burst. Been avoiding free games because of the IAP model, but I figure I should have one to check in every now and then.

Many thanks for the recommendations, think I'll give Star Traders a try and if I like it, give these a shot too :)

So far feeling quite underwhelmed by the games available on the S3, though I figured that would always be the case coming from an iPhone.
