I want to play games that work well with the OS and input scheme. Have a N7 and was hoping you guys could recommend some good games in the following genres :

-VNs
-RTSs
-Adventure Games
-Management Games (Played all the Kairosoft games already)

Fair points, it's disappointing that's the case but it does make sense the Android market is fragmented.

What doesn't make sense however, is in the past month or so we've had:

  • Rayman Jungle Run
  • Bad Piggies
  • Plague Inc
  • Devil's Attorney
  • Funky Smugglers
  • Blood & Glory
  • Granny Smith
  • Chrono Trigger
  • Beastie Bay
  • The Bard's Tale

And for the most part, GAF doesn't seem to care. We're all gamers, and lots of people here own Androids. Looking over at the iOS thread makes me glad I've still got my iPad though.

Yeah because of the lack of discussion I always have trouble finding out what the latest cool Android games are. But thanks to your list I just discovered Funky Smugglers. So thanks for that. :)

kairosoft must be making bank.

they're always no the list of must have.

Because they make only games you don't want to throw away after half an hour or so.

Orginal Game dev story is the only smartphone game i consider to be above trash level and even it was not so much fun on second play through and total snooze fest on third (where i made something like 4.000.000.000 ).
Of course after sinking those 10 hours in GDS i couldn't even finish lite version of any other kairosoft game as they feel like same formula with reskin and new items.

As for Note 2 i got mine three days ago. S-pen alone makes it huge improvement over any other phone for gaming plus screen is nice.

I just found out that Chaos Rings is finally available! I'll hold off for now just in case there is a sale in the near future (being the holiday season and all), but I'll definitely pick it up at some point.

Square Enix...sale...

Thanks to yours, I picked it up as well. Enjoying it thus far. Loving the soundtrack.

the dungeon village onward really is improving. the beasty bay one is really nice. I wish dungeon village had a battle system.

it seems to me that instead of making updates to they're game, they just make a new game with the updated system.

Game Dev Story 2 has apparently been in the works for years at this point. Their next two games are out in Japanese on the Play Store.

One is Mega Mall Story... With ancient Egyptians. No. I'm not making this up.
And the other is, some kind of dream apartment game? O_o

Seriously, what games do you guys recommend to someone with a newish Kindle Fire?

I've love a good strategy or rpg.

Check out the Humble Bundle. The bundle includes Eufloria which is a really cool strategy-ish little game. The tutorial of the Android version is a bit annoying but other than that, fun game. I'm not sure how easy it is to get these games running since you'd have to download them from their website.

Also, Auralux is a really good Strategy game but as far as I know, it's not available on the Amazon Appstore.

New Humble Android Bundle!

http://www.humblebundle.com/

Includes Sword and Sworcery, Waking Mars, Eufloria, Crayon Physics, Splice and Machinarium (if you beat the average)

Surprised Sworcery is on there, I thought they said they had no desire to make an Android version.
This is an incredible deal, everyone should snap this up if you haven't already.

We just released DreamWorks Dash n Drop through Google Play :)

Just grabbed this too, love me some PikPok!

(edit) Agreed about Funky Smugglers. :)

Both are pretty much based on the GalCon template, Eufloria adds a bit more but in general that pattern does not resonate as "RTS" with me since it feels too shallow. The best cellphone option I've seen was Land Air Sea Warfare (very close to Total Annihilation) but the only smartphone it supports is iOS (it also supports some old PDA OSes but PDAs are kinda redundant with smartphones and tablets around).

Splice is my sleeper hit of this Humble Bundle by far, the equivalent of Zen Bound 2 from the previous bundle, the game that I knew the least about and seemed the least interesting to me from appearance and I checked it out very last, and then got instantly hooked and enjoyed it the longest. I've played it a bit more on PC because the dragging cells to specific spots is sometimes hard to determine with my finger on top of my standard phone sized screen, so I'd absolutely recommend the game to anybody with a mid-sized to tablet device.

Just a general update for everybody who bought the current Humble Bundle - they updated the games, so be sure to redownload them (or click update for the games in the download section of the Humble Bundle app):

What? What app? I bought the most recent bundle but I never noticed any app. Just links to download the games.

Edit: Ooooo there it is, at the top of the email!

Edit2: Wow this makes managing the bundles, games and their updates way easier.

The Humble Bundle app doesn't work for me, each download just stays at 0%.

And thanks Yaboosh - wish I hadn't spent so much on my monster truck! I find the Racing Car to be a real bitch to control at times though, especially over bridges, of all things...

The control problems are largely irrelevant because you need the race car for the steep hills you start to come across late in each stage. And once you upgrade the down force rating control starts to get better.

Right you are sir, thank you!

Broken Sword 2 looks awesome btw, I always play adventure type games in bed with my girlfriend, so that'd be perfect, were it not for the fucking ridiculously high lowest setting brightness on my S3

5 more games added to the Humble Bundle 4 for Android:
- Avadon: The Black Fortress
- Canabalt
- Cogs
- Swords & Soldiers HD
- Zen Bound 2

Okay AndroidGAF, I got another issue hopefully someone can help with.

Does anyone experience a sound effect delay in games where sounds lags slightly behind the video? For example, in Swords & Soldiers, every time I click on a button in the game the sound effect plays almost a half a second later than it should. It seems to do it across games that I've tried from the various Android Humble Bundles.

Phone is Droid RAZR HD.

Half a second is not normal, but Android has problems with low latency audio.

The newer phones and versions of Android are better in this regard.

Although I already had a lot of games in this bundle for iOS, having them for Android, PC, plus all the soundtracks? Impossible to pass up.

Its not a 'full' city builder, its more about fixing cities. You start of making businesses work mainly with transport, but later on in levels you can build houses and have to deal with garbage and crap.

But I like it >.>

Syder Arcade is pay what you want on Indie Game Stand. PC/Mac/Android. Obviously not Google Play, you get an apk to install yourself.

Our next game deal is available on PC, Mac and Desura. IndieGameStand is also happy to PREMIERE the Android (Beta release - requires dual-core device) release of this game! Start enjoying some Amiga style retro arcade action right now for whatever price you want!

Syder Arcade is a free scrolling, multi directional shoot ‘em up, an uncompromised old-school experience, furious, challenging, straightforward. This game will bring you back in time, when bulky starships were cool and games were about player skill and swearing madly at your computer.

As a free bonus, you also get Studio Evil’s 7DFPS prototype game “Splat Arena” for PC and MAC in your game wallet.

Bonus Content and Game Keys

People that pay over $1 will also receive a Desura key and a Steam key if/when Syder Arcade becomes available via Greenlight. Beating the average will get you the game’s original soundtrack (13 tracks) + 3 bonus tracks.

Featured Charity: Medecins Sans Frontieres

Developer, Studio Evil has selected Medecins Sans Frontieres (Doctors without Borders) to receive 10% of the proceeds of this 96 hour sale.

I am still getting an install error when trying to install Splice? Is this a space issue? I tried freeing up a lot of space, it doesn't seem to have helped.

EDIT: It seems deleting the .apk that was downloaded by the Humble Bundle app and redownloading worked.
