Chu Chu Rocket is totally worth a dollar.

Absolutely. Fantastic puzzle game.

Thanks for that. I agree, it does work pretty well. Also, it's ridiculously addictive for such a simple game.

To be completely honest, I don't really understand the massive appeal of coin dozer, mainly because 1) it's 99% luck and 2)there isn't really a goal, just more coins. It's the same reason why I don't get why slot machine apps are so popular either. I found it fun for like ten minutes but I'm pretty sure I'm going to uninstall it. Also it has push notifications which is something I hate and I really wish developers would stop that crap.

Really? I've not had a push notification from it. If i had, i would have installed it straight away. I hate games with push notifications, urgh.

But yeah, i agree there isn't really a goal. I've always enjoyed (real) slot machines so i guess that's part of the reason why i'm enjoying coin dozer.

Yeah, that's absolutely awful when it's not used for anything useful. Luckily you can disable the notifications of any app since Android 4.1, but an app that keeps notifying me about shit for no good reason is still likely to get uninstalled post-haste. Stuff like that just makes me not want it anywhere near my phone.

Coin Dozer is virtual gambling, the same mechanisms that make people addicted to gambling work there too.

I played CD back when it was fairly new on iOS, when it was a free game that didn't even have IAPs, was decent enough fun. Yeah, kinda pointless but it has all the usual winning (coins/prizes fall off the bottom) and losing (coins/prizes fall off the side) that you know from other games.

Cognitile came out today and looks interesting. Anyone try it? 99 cents

ePSXe you mean

Well, i don't know, in my experience FPse was better.

PS: I am lying, never tried the android version of ePSXe... i was confusing it with psx4droid or something like that.

Now i don't know wich one is better, but i still thing FPse works pretty good.

I've tried both. FPse runs good with many options. Had a few emulation problems though. ePSXe runs amazing and have not encountered a single problem with accurate emulation; you just can't increase the graphic fidelity which doesn't bother me plus the saves work on the PC version. I'd say get ePSXe, even the menus are easier to use.

I've put out a few updates for my game, match 3, currently at 1.2.2:

1.2.0 includes some user feedback to help newer players get used to the gameplay
1.2.1 fixes some bugs in resume and after a game over restart
1.2.2 adds higher-resolution imagery for ridiculously wide screens (Nexus 10, etc.)

I think that's pretty much all I'm going to do with it. Except next I'll rewrite it in another framework I think to see if I can fix up some of the niggling bits like the soft buttons under ICS+, using some alpha fades and adding a landscape mode - none of which are possible with the current toolkit I'm using. It was great for prototyping and getting to this stage, but it's time to learn new things I think.

Technically there are goals to collect 3 of each special item. My wife loves those games. Personally they don't interest me at all but each to there own.

Can I use a PS3 controller to play the GTA Vice City 10th Aniversity?

Im pretty sure you can. I use an xbox controller with it.

Even if you cant use the ps3 controller by default there is definately ways to do it by routing the device and using an app called sixaxis. However the game does have controller support so as long as the ps3 controller syncs with it I think it will work. Game works great with a controller as well.

I turned graphics up to full as well and it seems to run fine on nexus 7.

I was just cruising around remembering how awesome the music was and singing along.

"I just died in your arms tonight"

Android-GAF, I'm getting a Nexus 7 tonight (xmas gift), what is the FIRST game I should install on it?

Some free ones you should get.
- Shadowgun deadzone
- heroes call
- heroes of order and chaos online (its a MOBA)
- Plague inc

Some not free ones that are worth it (or wait for a sale
- Dead space (one of my fav touch screen games)
- GTA Vice city

I have a load more but im at work and my memory alludes me.

Is there anyway to learn when some apps go on sale? I bought Blazing Star last night because it was on sale for a dollar and I love me SNK games. It was normally 2.99, which made me wonder if anyone else knew something that told me deals when they go live.

I've been hooked on Subway Surfers for like a month now, basically a temple run clone but I prefer it. Most I've actually played a mobile game I think. Looks great too and runs perfect on my Xperia T.

I put so much damned time in that game on my iPod, but haven't even downloaded it since I switched to Android. I can't imagine getting more out of it.

Really an amazing game. The artwork reminds me a bit of a Pixar movie.

Edit:
Damn it guys, I'm back on the junk now!!! Runs great on the Nexus 7.

What's the best possible N64 emulator out there? Robert Broglia doesn't have one listed, and I'm willing to pay for a good one. N4 here so hopefully no compatibility issues.

Woah, how did set up an Xbox controller on an Android device?

just watched my wishlist and Jet Set Radio is at 1.96 $ instead of 4.99 :)

Oh tempting thanks..think I'll grab it even though I have it on Vita. Was just posting that 2 of my wishlist items are on sale too $0.99 each - Sonic CD and Sonic 4 ep1. Ep2 is better but still quite steep. You also get unlocks if you own ep1.

Double post but worth it - Sonic 4 ep II is on sale here too! Not sure why appsales didn't get it yet, maybe there is a delay.

Picked up all 3 and JSR :) go sega

Check out the demo for ep 2 - I liked the controls and the mechanics, think they did it really well.

FFS. I can't get NOVA3 to work on my GNex. It does the Gameloft logo, shows a loading screen and then crashes to desktop

Any advice, all knowning GAF?

Has anyone found any amazing RTS games similar to Starcraft or DOTA in style? I absolutely loved Plants War until I figured out that I couldn't back up my game saves in that one and that was the last DOTA style game I played. There was some other one that I played, but I couldn't remember that one.

EDIT: the other game I played was Legendary Heroes (DOTA style game)

Also, has anyone played this Starcraft clone? http://www.gameloft.com/android-games/starfront-collision-hd/

JJ is a must. I love Strikefleet on my S3. I imagine it would rock even more on the larger Nexus 7" screen.

Looks like we have similar tastes. I'll have to check out The Curse.

I tend to steer away from complex 3d games playing portables and home consoles so i stick to games i find more pertinent to this kind of hardware.

Need for Speed Most Wanted Sale - £0.73

What's going on! All these sales, worth getting this? Running out of space!

-reads call logs and contacts, pass

Is the androidgamesroom site legit? It has Sonic Jump on there, which isn't on the official android store..trustworthy?

I've played that, it's a really good clone of starcraft... but I'd feel bad buying it, there's not one hint of original creativity in it. Feels like you're rewarding a company for ripping off a game with barely enough difference to avoid legal problems. Typical Gameloft really. It's a shame, because it's probably the most functional RTS I've played on Android.

Woah, how did set up an Xbox controller on an Android device?

buy an OTG cable that simply turns the micro USB into a normal sized one and plug it in.

As long as its a wired controller it just works. Games with controller support work amazingly with it such as

dead trigger
shadowgun
shadowgun dead zone
GTA3
and GTA Vice city.

You can get the wireless one to work as well if you have the pc dongle receiver but you need to root the device and then do some other stuff to get it to work. YouTube vids exist to show you how. I just bought a wired one rather than bother getting my pc wireless one to work on it.

With that you can also plug in a mouse, keyboard and if you buy the nexus media reader app you can also read USB sticks and even SDHC cards in a usb card reader and stream or copy the info onto the device. I have a 64gb USB with a load of my movies on it so I can watch them when I got away.

This is on the nexus 7. I dont know how similar this is on other android devices.

This may have already been posted, but it looks like some Square Enix games are on sale... kind of.

For as much as I want some of these games, the reviews seem to indicate that Square Enix doesn't care much for Android and won't be bothered to fix some nagging issues (mainly, the license/file check everytime the device goes to sleep for games like Chrono Trigger, and the lack of a quicksave functionality!?).

Chaos Rings ($3.99)

Chaos Rings 2 ($3.99)

Chrono Trigger ($6.99)

Final Fantasy I ($4.99)

Dungeon Raid on sale! £0.64p (bought)

So is Swift Key 3 ($2) and Dead Space ($1)

any recommendations? - shame swift key doesn't have auto text. I don't like when they just add a number to the updates when it's basically the same program. Looks like auto-correct was suggested over a year ago on their forums..but the demo does type surprisingly well..not sure. Seems like v4 is around the corner (not sure if it is "flow" which is in beta") - bought!

top of the page - sonic games on sale as well as ($1 each - decent discounts) jsr ($2), watch out for dodgy permissions on nfs:most wanted sale

Wow Zombie Driver is also 75% off - damn not compatible with note 2

np grimshawish - appSales is a great app for keeping up to date guys
