House of the Dead: Overkill is out on android. Reviews are mixed as many people are having massive crashing problems and the use of DRM in the form of license checks, so you gotta stay connected for this one. Also, the description is a little misleading as it states there are three levels to enjoy/wet yourself with but the initial five dollars will only get you the first two levels. To get that last level you have to pony up another two dollars. Also, it appears that there is a lack of voice acting in this port.

Re-Volt Classic, as previously mentioned, is out as well and it truly is one hell of an awesome port. I highly recommend this one! The game play is exactly the same as you may recall experiencing on the PC or N64.

Lastly, a reminder that Carmageddon drops on android May 10th and its going to be free for the first day, so snag it while you can.

EDIT: moar gamz

Voxel Invaders (Free) (Paid) This little gem has seemingly flown under the radar but I think it deserves a little spotlight action. Short and sweet; its space invaders with a voxel engine. Now, if you look into it a little deeper you can see that there is much more than meets the eye with this one. For those of you who like a little retro action every now and then, this might be perfect for you. Voxel Invaders features 24 different levels and each level has different stages which brings the whole experience to well over 140 different encounters (Not to mention the THREE difficulty settings for even MORE blasting action!). There are MANY styles of blocky invaders to blast to blocky space.. bits, not to mention big bad blocky bosses! As if that wasn't enough, there are also, in typical galaga fashion, a number of different weapon powerups to collect and wreak havoc with! There's the coveted DUAL BLASTER with RAPID FIRE action, the BEAM CANNON with significantly-less rapid fire action, and, probably the best one of all, a powerup that turns the boring 2D world into a 3D frag fest! (I might be exaggerating a bit here but it truly is pretty neat)

Hm... I was considering getting this based on the sheer awesomeness of including Shinobi and Vectorman weapons, but this sounds less than appealing. I think I'll wait for a sale.

For the record, just bought Scribblenauts on my HTC EVO 4g lte and can't make any items. Game is apparently buggy...eh. .99 cents but still...

This looks so good, but I already think twice before dropping over 2 euros in an Android game. How does it play on S3, anyone tried?

What good games are there that is actually good with touch controls? For the record I hate all games with "virtual controls" of any kind.

If we're talking about the complete original game, there will be more than enough content to justify a measly €2 price tag.

Yeah I don't doubt that, the car and track selection seems pretty awesome. I'm talking about the controls, the game seems pretty fast paced so I'm not sure if touch controls work very well on a small phone screen.

There are three different types of controls to choose from. One puts the steering buttons on the left and the right of the screen with the throttle constantly on. The second is more traditional with left and right steering buttons on the left of the screen with brake/accelerate buttons on the right side. The third puts two "joysticks" on the screen, one on the left and one on the right, for a more "precise" control scheme. I find the first and second option, in relation to how I listed them, the best for touch screen control.

hey guys & gals! check out our 3D horror game Garden of Fear. here's what its all about:

You wake up in a labyrinth. You don't know why you're there. You only know that something is awfully wrong!

All you have is a flashlight, some charcoal, a compass...and a really bad feeling in your stomach!

Best played alone, lights out, headphones on!

GOAL OF THE GAME:

The labyrinth you find yourself in has 8 exit doors, 2 on each of the outer sides. Only ONE of these doors will let you escape this maze of madness! The other seven will lead you back to the middle the labyrinth.

Free Version
and Full Version available.
You could have warned people against the fucking spyware that comes with the free version.
By the time the popup about the ads in the notification area and basically everywhere appears, I could tell by the gps and wifi activity that the arm was already done. Fuck this shit!

Thanks for the heads up. I'll be staying far away from this one.

Do you suppose the developer will come back in and explain why the hell their game does this?

So guys, is there an Android game/port of or similar to the 999/Phoenix Wright series? Didn't find anything, but I figure you know better about this than I would.

ive played phoenix wright on my nexus 7........using 'nds4droid'. Runs at 30+ fps, no problems!

Bought Super Monkey Ball 2 yesterday. Awesome, console quality game for 99¢, but unfortunately it is gyro sensor only. Still very worth it, though. It also has three minigames (and a fourth one if you use a tablet).

I never played Super Monkey Ball, but I think it is a port of the GameCube SMB2. Played on my tablet and phone, but I don't recommend using a tablet, especially if you have a heavy one.

I didn't know Carmageddon was going to be free for the first 24 hours, even though Cronee mentioned earlier in the thread!

Great news!

I wonder, how? IIRC you can't have a free app on Google Play then change it to Paid.

Edit: The article actually mentions that they will have a Free version, then remove it, and hopefully update it somehow. I didn't know you could update removed apps on the Play Store.

The "Free version" is their way of getting the game to everybody that paid through Kickstarter. I guess they could have provided an .APK for that people, but don't some operators disable the installing of external .APKs?

I don't know what will happen once the free version is removed from the Store. Maybe you will no longer be able to update it/have access to it? In other words, you're screwed if you wipe your phone.

Maybe you're supposed to backup the .apk yourself, which is harder than install an .APK if somebody made that available for free for the kickstarter group... hmm..

I'm gonna say they want to avoid piracy as much as possible, and that provided .APK would be easily shared. I don't really know.

not sure if its been mentioned, but i've been enjoying Puzzlecraft lately.

That does seem like a pretty nice game. How's the IAP bull, is it super slow if you don't pay for extra stuff? No "oh you're out of moves, BUY MORE NOW!" kind of stuff?

Asking because it could look good at first but turn to shit after an hour of gameplay. Which I hate.

Despite being called "Super Monkey Ball 2" it's an original game, not a port of the GC game.
Wish it was ported for a platform with joysticks, the game is pretty good but I'm not a fan of gyro sensor gameplay.

I've been playing a bunch of Puzzlecraft too, and I was worried that the IAP would be bad. However I'm probably 8 - 10 hours in, and I haven't even felt close to restrained in my moves or actions yet, to the point where I would consider IAP. The game makes it really easy to stay away from IAP if you are a half decent player and don't care about cosmetic items like flowers and stuff.

Definitely worth checking out, the only other Match 3 style game I like more is Dungeon Raid.

I got it. Much more limited than Scribblenauts Unlimited, but still a fun game.

Well I bought it...and it doesn't work on my phone. Ugh. Amazon told me it worked but there was a pop up that said it was untested on my phone when I booted it up. So I try to do the tutorial...can't create any objects. Im quite upset even though it's only a dollar.

Is the first Shadowgun a singleplayer game, or just a multiplayer game? Im thinking about getting it if its a good singleplayer game

I picked it up as well. Every other time I've played vice city, as soon as you get on the moped at the start, it's been Michael Jackson's beat it on the radio, but not this time. Either it's been random coincidence before, or there was some kind of licencing issue.

Also, my S3 feels like it's about to burst into flames after 5 minutes of playing this.

Thats a shame that Michael Jackson's music is missing. Can you do custom soundtracks with this version? Wonder if there is a modding community for this to put all the audio back in.

Puzzlecraft is a really good game. I've already finished and didn't need to make any purchase. It's much better balanced than most F2P android games.

Thanks for this post, you linked the game I was going to ask about literally right now lol

I already went and downloaded Puzzlecraft a few hours ago and I have to agree, the game design isn't bad at all, you really don't need any IAP. In fact, it's pretty goddamn addictive. Gotta check out that Dungeon Raid next.

If you guys like match 3 games try Puzzle and Dragon. It's bejeweled, pokemon and an dungeon crawler in one. Addictive as hell and has an active community thread.

Here

It has IAP but I've put in dozens of hours and haven't spent a dollar.

Talisman HD is awesome! so glad someone mentioned it. great sinlge player board game. i guess multiplayer is going to be added in an expansion this summer. cant wait.

i also found out that another board game came out, Elder Signs (from FFG). it looks good, ill probably pick that one up too.

glad the board game scene seems to be picking up on Android.

we use Airpush (->ad network) to monetize the free version. you can always remove/decline the ads. it's no virus. I just googled a little and found out, that most "anti-virus" programs also detect ad-networks (which I have no problems with). of course it would be better if these programs made a clear destinction between ads and viruses.

hope this clears things up! cheers!

btw, our full version of the game (no ads) was sold about 40 times thus far and we have over 4000 users in our analytic software. trust me, I would glady delete the free version, if people would pay the horrible cost of $1 to buy the game...but most just won't.

elder signs isn't exactly new
elder signs is nowhere near as fun as taliman

I've been playing PUK the last week. It's a very minimalistic game and it's pretty addicting!

I haven't played Talisman yet (though I'm picking it up this weekend before I go out of town next week) but I enjoyed Elder Signs quite a bit. It's challenging!

Not available in UK :(
It's a free to play game, you can download and install the APK file:
http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=55021788&postcount=14938

That's what I did since it's also not available in Mexico :(

I'm uber late to the party with Kairosoft stuff. I downloaded most of the "Lite" games and ended buying Game Dev Story and Oh! Edo Towns. Game Dev Story is addictive as heck, I really really love it, while Oh! Edo Towns is pretty much just old Japan-like SimCity, which is awesome. The rest of the games... well, I don't think I'll be in the mood for more Kairosoft stuff for a while, their titles are incredibly same-ish so it's more about picking the one(s) you want to play and ignore the rest. Love the pixel art and music.
