Android Wear |OT| 2nd Gen is Here

Any news on the Moto 360 2?im thinking of buying one if they come in smaller size than the original....

Yeah, that's what Android Wear devices are lacking. A smaller display.

My wife wants one but all of them are too big on her wrist. Someone needs to release something exactly like the moto360 but with a screen size that's 2/3rds of it.

Seems my battery problem is related to Google Maps displaying a map of your location after arriving at your destination when using navigation. Sometimes the map just keeps the watch on for no damned reason. Also, I don't have any idea why it even shows the map on the watch. You can't activate any voice commands while it's in map mode so I have to actively swipe away before voicing a new command. On top of that, even if I do, it sometimes doesn't hear me and goes to sleep while I'm speaking. Lastly, once it goes ti sleep, the wrist-twist to wake it up won't work so I'm forced to tap the screen/button and then utter a new command.

This makes morning commutes frustrating as I like to have nav running when I'm dropping of my partner off and then re-navigating to work to keep me informed of any traffic updates. It's only a minor hindrance but it's those smalls things that makes me feel it's not where it should be.

Also, it needs to show the time somewhere on the screen while in map mode. I remember it used to be a persistent card overlaid on the watch face with the time, but now I'm getting a map + directions and no clock.

I just caught Android Wear being Android Wear again. How the hell 5.1.1 was approved for release I would love to know.

Also earlier in the week the watch turned on GPS somehow and was dead by 8pm so I was without my watch for 2 hours. That was fun.

At least Apple Watch battery life is consistently terrible.

I have to say that I'm enjoying my Moto 360. Got it when it went down to $150. I knew its limitations and that a second gen would be around soon, but I though... eh why not? If nothing else I'll use it when I'm running so I don't have to lug around my phone when I want to listen to music. I like that I can set it on my nightstand (although I wish it made noise so I could set an alarm clock). I was informed there was a wreck today on my route home so that was cool. I responded to a text with "Thanks" fairly easy. Just the little things are cool. The battery sucks but if I'm not actively using the screen a lot I can easily make it through the day which is all I care about.

I don't think it's specifically 5.1.1, it might be something wrong with your watch. Mine isn't doing this at all.

My Moto 360 seems to randomly die somewhere around 15% after upgrading to the latest Wear update.
Out of curiosity are you using the ambient mode? I haven't had battery issues with this update yet, but I only got it a couple days ago. Only difference besides the obvious interface is a smoother performance

Yup, and watch Wi-Fi turned on.

As a daily Apple Watch user (I love it) I'm really interested in the Moto 360 2 as that seems like the best android watch. Competition is good

Why, what have you heard? At the moment, it sounds like spec wise it's playing catch up to every other Android watch by adding the same spec as every other smart watch, which is better than the TI chip at least. All other rumours are contradictory at this point (it's getting id of the flat tyre, it isn't getting rid of the flat tyre).

Aren't you glad we didn't wait? The watch is super helpful.

Really, the only thing they need to improve on the Moto360-2 to get me to buy it is better battery life and add a speaker.

That's a day one buy.

It's crazy how much power Apple has. I used to be one of the only people who owned a smartwatch and now i see a bunch of senior citizen customers at work wearing their Apple Watches.

I've still not seen an Apple Watch in the wild. Kind of weird considering I work in a technology company, but none of them have Android Wear either.

Only other person I know got an LG Watch R before I did.

A bunch of people at my place have android wears, not seen a single apple watch though even though there's a lot of iphones around.

I think the price v function is a huge thing. Even if I was still iOS, I don't think I'd have an Apple watch and while I like my watch, I wouldn't buy one at that price at all.

Me neither. For what it does a smart watch isn't worth too much more than £100 to me.

When the 360 dropped below 200 canuckbucks I figured it was low enough for me to take the plunge and see if I would seriously find notifications on my wrist a handy thing. That really was what I was mostly interested in, and happily I've got more use out of it than I thought. 200 bucks is the perfect price point for me, and even then I can acknowledge that this type of device is almost entirely frivolous at this point. :)

My uncle just gave me his Moto 360 as he doesn't use it. I swear changing it back to the leather band has been the most stressful thing in my life. It's like i've just been in an operating room for 12 hours.

I bought one that came with the steel connect adapters, makes it so much easier to swap bands.

I recommend anyone who uses Google Translate to download Microsoft Translate, it comes with a Wear App

Is there a way I can disable the screen coming on if the face is touched?

Put it in theater mode.

I change mine very frequently, you just learn to do it quickly.

That's an interesting strap.

I think my G Watch R is super cheap feeling. Band irrelevant. The watch itself is like a toy.

Sony Smartwatch 3 still king.

Wtf is wrong with the screen color

Anyone else find the gps tracking on the Smartwatch 3 is a bit crap?

I bought it primarily for running purposes (gps and music player all in one) but the gps is either erratic or just refuses to find a signal. This is with wearing a sweatband between my wrist and the watch (I've read the official blurb from Sony on how moisture affects the gps)

I don't actually use that one at the moment. Been switching between some other boring regular watch one, and some Persona one some dickhead made.
What's the Persona one?
