Animal Crossing: New Horizons |OT| Self-isolating on a deserted island

This is where you get the last laugh because you don't have to pay him a goddam dime of that. After Nook fucking you around for so long, you get to turn the tables and have your basement built for FREE.

Sadly he has a very tempting reason for paying off that final loan as he will let you customise the outside of your house for free as many times as you like but limited to once a day

Been busy the past couple of days, have 3 bridges built and working on 2 ramps to aid reaching the higher places of my island. Hopefully by next week's end, it'll all be completed.

One of the higher areas I plan to flatten as I have plans for an orchard in that area over the next few months.

I need help online. My brother bought the game for him and his wife. He has a Nintendo account and I bought him the 1 year sub. Can they share an account to play there own villagers or do they both need a 1yr sub to play online? She has an account of her own on the system but it isn't a Nintendo account just a local one I guess.

One island per Switch unfortunately. Doesn't matter how many accounts

He can play online with the sub you gifted.
She can play, but only offline.

You/They can get a family plan to allow both to play online. In all honesty, you don't really need to play online at all. It does help speed up getting different fruit and other turnip prices, but both won't really matter until later.

More info about the online program here:

I did get a free 7-day trial with my digital purchase of AC. Your brother may have as well. His wife could use that, if so.

Looks like there is a free 7-day trial for everyone? Check the banner at the opt of this page:

Phase 1 of properly building stuff complete, my tiki back yard is finished. I'll tailor it as new items come into hand as i'm sure i can easily improve the look with the small little details. Happy home designer taught me well hehe

Sorry if it’s been answered.

Playing on my Switch. Can I play on the Switch Lite and retain my progress by uploading my save to the cloud? I keep hearing one island per Switch, so not sure if I can share progress between my two Switches.

That costs $5000 per remodel and thus is not tempting at all. You would need to hit around 500 remodels for it pay off. Personally, I was one and done with the remodel, so yeah, I fucked Nook up the ass on that remodel bill and I'm never looking back. Real life.

Thank you for the info. That kind of sucks to be honest we were hoping to to use one switch and they both share an island but could connect with the rest of us. Nintendo offers a refund option to upgrade to a family account but it $0.05 per days left so we lose out on a few bucks. Oh well. My mistake.

Hours are coming in for East Coast and Central Americans, if you want to see the frightening amount of time you lost to AC this week, lol

Hmm so I guess those dark/greyish/washed out corners on sand at night time are just part of the game design. I was thinking it was an issue with my Switch's display.

Yeah, I think it’s some kind of subtle vignetting that becomes more visible on the sand. Brand new Animal Crossing Switch here, btw.

God bless Animal Crossing discord. Made a fortune from selling turnips!

:messenger_hushed: I will never understand how some of you have gotten so far. I’ve barely scratched the surface and have been playing all week.

Just finished with my tarantula island thing. Ended up with really nice haul. Checking out the drop off box, it was valued at around 108,000. Going to wait till the store opens though so I get more money.

drganon drganon If you're the patience kind of person I would even suggest waiting for Flick to come to your island. He will buy tarantulas for 12K instead of the normal 8K you get at Nook's Cranny. On top of that he can also make a model of any bug (one per visit) if you hand him of 3 of that specific bug. I haven't been fortunate enough to reach tarantula island. But the ones I catch randomly over time are waiting in my inventory for Flick to come to town. Which is a random event by the way, so it could take a while.

Impotaku Impotaku Is that sand stuff you got going on there the pattern tool? The place looks great!

For some reason my main room was a big mess from day 1. Yesterday I figured it was finally time to make it somewhat acceptable. Got the workbench, coffee and a sink on one side. And some relaxing stuff on the other side of the room.

This morning I had the garden hose in my shop. Perfect fit just outside the flower garden opposite of my house.

It's part of the terraforming toolset once you buy the path permit it allows you to lay sand tiles, one advantage of these sand tiles means you can put coconut trees anywhere if you dig up a fully grown tree then place a square of sand down on the grass you can plant the tree directly on top so they are no longer restricted to the beach which is how i managed to get them into my garden.

Grinding is always the answers to bells and miles. But I do try to keep it at a level where I still enjoy all the other stuff around. I do wonder however how many hours I've put in already, it won't be pretty I'm guessing.

Another question, does anyone have the flat screen TV (wall mounted) yet? Besides that I'm also looking for plants, hardly have any so I'm even using a moss ball to get some green in the house now. If you have anything like plants, the TV or other stuff you'd think would fit my rooms I'd love to come and catalog those items in return for stuff I have. Let me know!

Friendcode is 6469-5210-4906 by the way.

I have a livestreaming beaver in my town this morning. His name is CJ and he is all about fishing. He had me catch 3 small fish in a row in order to open up the ability to sell fish to him at a higher price. He also will send me a replica of a fish, as long as I provide him with 3 caught of the same kind.

Turnips are only 104 here.

I went for a sea bass replica with CJ. I figured it was a safe bet. I will probably stash some rarer fish for his next visit.

Yeah CJ has all the same perks as Flick. One for fish and the other for insects. Haven't seen either of them yet.

Was wondering, anyone else missing diving yet? I'm not sure if I miss diving or if I miss hanging with Pascal. But I'd love diving as a summer update feature.

As of now, no. No cloud saves. One island, one Switch.

They talked about "looking at" cloud saves at some point.

I keep trying to talk myself into this game, but, I can't do it. What am I missing?

People show their "cool houses" etc, but they all look pretty much the same. What's the overall goal here? Just various grinding activities to buy knickknacks for your home? Is there anything you can do to reach a point where it would be considered "beating" the game, even if you can continue playing afterwards (like Stardew Valley or Minecraft)?

That question greatly depends on what you think is beating a game. There are a few things you can complete in this game.

1. The museum can be filled, to do so you collect all bugs, fishes and fossils to be found in this game. Considering it works with the real life seasons it will last you close to a year of playing to reach this goal
2. There's a limit to the amount of property updates you can loan from Nook. So you can 'finish' your house
3. There's a catalogue in the game that can be completed if you're really dedicated
4. There's a kind of achievement system in the form of Nook miles. You can ultimately finish every goal in the miles programme, and that will take you ages

So from the top of my mind, there are a few goals to work towards to if that's something you really need. Other than that it's just a relaxed game in which you can go fishing or bug catching if you please. Or grow a flowerbed if that's your thing. Or create fun spaces outside troughout your island for you and your villagers. Decorating your own house. Seasonal events and a lot of random NPC's appearing at your island that trigger small events to do. And of course you keep working towards new upgrades for your island such as the shop, museum and expansions on existing buildings. It's really a game where you don't have to do anything but you just be you and make your own fun. And every day you boot up the game is exiting to me. Beginning with my daily collect-a-ton around the island. Hoping to see new flowers have popped up, checking out the shops for new stuff etc. From the outside in it's pretty hard to properly explain the fun, but once you're in you ain't getting out.

Oh my... I finally caught a Stringfish. Countless bait crafted, nights spent running back and forth along the clifftop river and it finally happens by random chance with no bait at 6am.

This feeling, this elation... it's like finding quilted toilet roll in the wild.

I dunno if you played stardew but the best way to describe it is stardew is very routine oriented. Get up, feed cat, gather crops, pet animals, mines etc

Animal crossing is more chill like you dont have the same pressures. But ultimately it's about making your island and home pretty/cool and yeah I'm guessing there will be a point when everyone kinda looks similar.

Theres lots of collectibles and rng to get what you want etc.
