Many thanks to both you and your rabbit. :) I guess now I can say that my name attracts bunnies? I'm still amazed that in less than two years (since I got her that first Inuyasha DVD) my friend has managed to accumulate a collection of just anime nearly 3x the size of my collection of all DVDs that I'd been building since I first went off to college. I've gotta catch up, and this will help greatly. :D

I'm just wondering... how do you get around to buying duplicates of DVDs? Especially this many. Do you buy online or physically go to stores to buy them?

I make a list of every DVD I own that i put onto notecards that i use to keep track of what DVDs (and games) I own. I use that list to decide what volume to buy in a series and then when i get the DVD, i update the notecards of my new purchase. Next I put the total number of DVDs i own ontop along with the date it was updated on. I keep my notecards taped right next to the bookcase that holds my DVDs/games. It's a little bit anal, but I like to know what i have and don't have.
When I go out to stores I know what i want to buy and leave as soon as possible. I don't like to splurge on something that catches my eye because I know i have enough at home that i haven't even played or seen yet. Very rarely will i just buy something on impulse... and if i do, it's usually an action figure.

I once accidently bought a duplicate of Sopranos Season 3. This was a pretty isolated incident, and the first copy was actually for my roommate. He wanted it, and I saw it on sale online, so I got it and he paid me back. Looking back, I really have no idea how I ended up ordering two, but I really liked what I saw when he was watching his copy, so I kept the extra for myself.

Really nice site... but rightstuf.com has me when i want to buy anime DVDs for cheap online. And I like going to Fry's for lots of nicely cheap new stuff whether it's DVDs, games, computer stuff or TVs. I'm hooked on them.
Actually what I meant was that was a much more efficient way of catalogueing your DVDs than writing them on notes :lol

oooh... i see. I still like my way, because it's easier to just look at notecards than turning on my computer and opening applications. Plus, I don't have an internet connection in my room for my computer (no wireless card for it cause I'm too cheap). =P

I do the online thing with my comic books because it'd take waaay too long to write it all by hand.

I was making large orders from deepdiscountdvd.com and I made a few mistakes.

The Inu Yasha DVDs are extra because I ordered all the DVDs that were out, including the 1st season set. So I over bought , the season one set had eps 1-27 but I also got vol 6-27 so I had eps 15-27 twice.

They sent me 2 copies of Magical Shopping Arcade Abenobashi Vol. #3 instead of 1 vol 2 and 1 vol 3.

The rest I just accidentally clicked on twice, and did not notice until they arrived.

I would have returned them but I paid off the CC I used for the orders and closed the account, so it would be a hassle to get a refund and not worth the effort.

8 mistakes out of 200+ DVDs, not bad.

How do you afford 2000+ DVDs?
