I hope this is the last game with the OGs. I mean, I love the RE crew to death, but come on, they are old.

For REX I wish for new characters, new villains, new viruses, moving completely from the original lore... I would love a deep sea research lab like Saturn's "Deep Fear", with new and especially vulnerable characters. I want to feel the fear I had with the original RE back in the day.

Edit: And where is my Code Veronica Remake?

they would have to reboot the franchise for this to work, they kind tried a soft reboot with RE7, it didnt work very well sadly.

I hope we get a choice to play the majority of the game as Leon like RE2make. I really don't want to play as RE3make/Death Island Jill again. I don't even want GOAT Leon to share the spotlight

Julia Voth or bust.

I figured she was mid-to-late 40s.

Nope, she's 39 and still fine as hell.

I can see that, sounds very similar to Resident Evil 4, and considering that is still considered the best in the series, of course they will try to copy that formula.

In a way I'm surprised how much influence RE4 has, if only because of how old it is. On the other hand it's still the best RE game so there's that.

Now all Capcom needs to do is bring back the laser sight for all future games, and get rid of the stupid ass reticle that focuses in when you stop and shoot (i.e. RE2R and RE3R), and we're back in business.

No giant women in RE 9 confirmed.

No more giant boobs.

Semi joking but since RE7 all the female characters have been flat (i.e. Mia, Zoe, Claire, Jill, Ashley).

That's not a new thing. RE heroines have never been particularly stacked, that I can recall. At least if you don't count the Foley sisters.

Jill definitely seemed a bit bigger in 5 but otherwise her design has been pretty consistent.

That basically confirms it for me. I haven't taken a single leak really serious so far, but Dusk has nailed the past 4-5 RE games. Nick Apostolides has also been confirmed to be in a AAA role with the same description as his RE2/4 listings.

Can't fucking wait. Leon as sole main at least quadruples my hype.

My only ask is, for once, don't put Ada in one of his entries. Fuck Ada. Bring back Claire. Give an entry with Rebecca. I'll even take Jill over Ada.

I would love to see Rebecca come back

Dusk "RE3 is so big, it has a fast-travel system/PS5 cannot run Village well" Golem who always backpedals his bullshit claims with "hur-dur it was like that earlier in development"?

The RE: Village plot details were initially leaked by a German gaming channel, and he was very quick to go with the "my source is telling me the same".
I mean, development changes are legit. It's like how he originally leaked the old woman RE7's name being Camile. That obviously ended up being wrong, and people tried to call that out, but you can find references to items owned by Camile in the game files.

He was also the first one to leak the occult theme and hallucination/insanity theme in House B. He was the one who ended up stating that RE3 was being outsourced (which ended up being to M-two), and did the same with the Not a Hero DLC. He also leaked that the B scenarios in RE2 were generally the same other than the beginning and the last boss. He also leaked Ito's concept art of the monster from Short Message, which ended up being exact to the game and had Ito's signature on it. IMO he's just shared too much that ended up being legit in regards to development. He's got a source somewhere.

Either way, you're free to save this comment and say I told you so if his "Leon is 100% protag and Jill has no big role" thing ends up being BS and I'll eat my words. He sounds pretty sure this time. I just feel like every time I've seen his twitter posts gain traction, they ended up being right. Still, like clockwork, he'd leak for the next game and people would do this whole song and dance again.

With Onimusha releasing in 2026, I don't think we'll see RE9 in the same year unless they're planning to release 2 huge games in one year and practically in the same genre, just with different combat and mechanics. It just doesn't feel right to steal attention from your second game, so you'll want to maximise sales and attention to just one. It'll be amazing if we'll get both Onimusha and RE9 in 2026, but I highly doubt it.

Have you played any Onimusha games, especially the first one? It's survival horror just like RE, but with different combat and mechanics. There's literally puzzles you need to solve just like in RE games even, there's two characters you can play just like in RE and so on. The real and true difference is combat, time period and setting. Onimusha is far more than just straight up action game like DMC for example.

I STRONGLY hope this turns out to be false, or it's just overselling. I know there's different teams and everything within Capcom, but truth be told they lost a lot of goodwill with me with DD2 and MH:W. Reinventions are always a gamble to begin with, and I'm still in the camp that would've liked to see the game continue in the Code Veronica, not 4, way, but I have little hope that "reinventing" would make it better at this point.

I was kinda expecting them to come up with something safe RE4-ish, or like a larger version of the Rose DLC. Relatively big game, some different settings, over the shoulder (which they already re-introduced in the 8 DLC), this type of stuff.

I'm not sure if I said it before here, but RE9 is going to be such an interesting game for this franchise. I hope they don't fuck this up, but I have zero clues to say which direction it's currently leaning.

E: Just read FewRope's post about the golem guy, let's hope he's full of shit again.

Hopefully they have a solid vision and good inspiration this time.

RE7, where they were inspired by PT, BlairWitch and stuff like that, did a great job.

RE8 was kind of a mess. RE8 felt like it was partially inspired by RE4 (European village, charismatic merchant, focused on action), but at the same time it felt like a sequel to RE7 that inherited the style of RE7 (first person, slow exploration).

But the levels in RE8 were much more linear than RE7 (inspired by RE4), so RE8 was boring to explore.

And the combat felt pretty clunky in RE8: enemies were bullet sponges, didn't react to damage much, felt like they were made of iron instead of flesh. But RE8 is a game partially inspired by RE4, focused on action, so there was a lot of combat in RE8, and it was pretty frustrating, unlike RE4.

Hopefully RE9 takes inspiration from games and movies in the same style rather than different ones.

There's something about 7 and 8 that just rubs me the wrong way. Can't put my finger on it. I don't know if it's Ethan being a boring character or the 1st person cam or Eveline being a horrible villain or the bestiary, but it's really difficult to bring myself to replay those two games.

I'm glad Ethan's dead, but Eveline and the whole myoceptopitewhatever needs to fuck off, too.

This overarching storyline is so convoluted.

Last RE game I played was 7, really enjoyed it but had zero clue of how it all ties together. I'd be perfectly happy if they just did a hard reset on the plot.

I agree, and truth be told, I hate 7 and 8, for all of the reasons you mentioned. I think they are very good (RE7) and pretty good (RE8) games in general, but at no point in enjoying Resident Evil have I ever wanted this series to go first person (or am interested in that type of gameplay to begin with). I do like how they have revitalized the series, but that revitalization was only necessary because Capcom screwed up in the first place.

With the heavy focus on remakes and them doing pretty well, I always kinda expected they would "converge" this dual approach eventually (like with the closure of the Ethan arc), and with the 8 DLC being third person only I had hoped this had started.

But obviously there's something to be said about the people who do in fact enjoy these first person RE games, and much more so about their money, that Capcom certainly isn't willing to hold out on. Ideally that something should be "fuck them", but I'm not so sure if the executives would agree.

RE has always had a trash story IMO. I expect literally nothing from them on that front at this point (which is why RE7 was such a pleasant surprise; they haven't surprised me since though).

Man I love 7 and 8, and they made me fall in love with REmakes 2 nad 4, haven't played 3 but will at some point.
You're not missing out on 3 much IMO. Don't feel rushed. If you find it for 5 dollars, its worth an evening of play (I ran through on hard and did everything there was to do in a playthrough in about 4 and a half hours).

Loved RE7 & RE8. I'm fkn in day one!!! Ya'll keep getting remakes of the third person ones, so stop ruining our fun with the calls for killing first person resident evils. It's so much more immersive, when are you guys just stop being wrong?

Looked up Julia Voth, what a smoke show. For continuity, wonder why they didn't stick with her likeness? If Jill continues to age in the story, wouldn't it make sense to stick with a similarly aged woman?

RE3 remake came out 11 years after 5, but was set 11 years before it, so that would've been 22 years of extra age.

Not that they couldn't have still done it.

Although now that I look at her age I guess Voth was only like 16 when she originally played Jill so she had an extra decade of leeway.

We haven't seen Leon in the new RE games for a while, and RE4 and RE2 (including remakes) are among the best selling ones. So would make sense to include him.

Regarding female sidekick, I think they may choose Sheva because she isn't white so get DEI bonus and RE5 did sell well back then. Regarding NPCs or playable characters for a small portion of the game or some game mode they could include Chris and (we haven't seen her for a while) Claire.

Regarding enemies I'd go back to the roots of the series focusing more on traditional zombies, but this time I'd go a bit L4D/Space Marine 2 adding large hordes. I'd introduce a new Umbrella virus as excuse to evolve the idea of resurrected angry zombies from RE1 remake into a new main enemy type that was prototyped and rejected in the original RE4: 'ghosts', which would be basically an stealth/difficult to see version of enemies that would appear later in the game.

Even if the game won't be oficially approved there, China is a huge market, so I'd choose a Chinese town as location that would include a portion being city streets, its police station, a forest, a swamp, a mansion, a lab and a factory. It also aligns well with NATO/US propaganda, somewhat playing the Chinese as bad guys even if the game wouldn't directly include any reference to their government or China.

Maybe the best option would be to allow you to switch between 1st and 3rd person, since fanbase seems split almost 50%-50% between both options.

He's wrong saying RE 9 is taking too long. AAA games take longer every generation, and Village was only released 4 years ago, when AAA games nowadays take normally 5-9 years to be made, plus they had covid and have been/are busy with many other big AAA games. A 2026-2028 release for RE9 would be a normal one.

He's just saying it takes too long because he made a wrong guess that it was going to be announced before like several other supposed RE remakes and spionffs that never got announced because it never existed, like all the (fake) information about SFV and SF6 he said.

He got right some info from the Village teaser announcement and from one of the SH teasers, somebody maybe from some company that makes trailers properly leaked that to him, and since then some people believes everything he says, when shouldn't because he said a ton of things that were proven wrong.

I'm fine with them doing some major changes again hopefully back to a more slower and explorable pace. Maybe more interaction with characters, hub areas just you get to meet other survivors. Randomized stuff and events and more open to match the new engine that'll improve upon making the world more open.

I'm also fine with them doing other new things story wise like having the setting take place in a space station or having some bioweapons become good. Imagine a new advance Eve series bioweapon that'll look like Jennifer Connelly and a scene taking place inside a large shopping store with your main character in a certain part of the game.

Part 3 is actually really fun, definitely get it on sale. I don't regret buying it day 1 since Resistance gave me so much fun over 2,000 hours on RE Resistance which came with RE3 Remake. But it's dead now so I just suggest playing RE3 Remake on a good sale.

Indeed! But there's barely any backtracking in Re4 unlike Re2 and 3,7,8
I hope we'll get the stalker back but way more advance this time with a much bigger area to cover. Mr.X was amazing but the police station was too small and there were plenty of places he wasn't able to go to. I was really hoping RE3 Remake's Nemesis would have a huge stalker unscripted section but sadly that wasn't the case. Of course with bigger areas and more backtracking and explorable places and more open and random encounters.

I don’t know why they felt they needed to reinvent the wheel again.
So they can streamline RE like they streamlined Dogma and MH. Though if they just remove inventory management and make it play like a TPS Crow Country I'd be all for it.

Best RE for that classic Horror genre is still RE1 and RE3.

RE7, where they were inspired by PT
That's false

PT was released before, but the direction of the game, first person and whatnot, was made in pre production of the game, so before PT's release

If something closer was to be inspired, was Condemned
