Yeah, the lighting is artificial, it's like one of those PR shots/renders. Of course being a photoshopped render does not mean it's not a real design.

However, if this is not fake, someone spent a great deal of time making it. There are some really tiny details there that an amateur fan wouldn't bother with, and I really doubt it's a render to begin with.

I would think that anyone developing for Xbox 360 would have some idea as to what the final design would look like by now. What are we.... 3-4 weeks away from E3? Plus he works for MS so the chances that he's seen it are even greater.

i agree that the "circle of light" portion of it looks fake. its not centered, and the lighting seems off (unless its depressed inwards..). where is the grill portion from the ourcolony site? this bears a resemblence to that, but certainly ist the same....

Again, for comments like this, it's very wise to wait to see/touch the product in person. There are many different types of plastic though, and the richness of look they can give out can vary massively.
for the record, it doesnt look like a render to me... so even if a few things look a litte odd, i'm leaning towards it being real. if it does turn out to be a fake, they did a great job, and not just with the details (anyone can check out rumors to include whats expected), but the fact that it looks like an actual physical unit
that said, i like it. especially upright. not what i was expecting, but upon seeing it, it does sort of remind me of the ipod styling...

Im going to say its real too, looking carefully at the other supposed pic, it seems that at least there is a resemblace.......

i just had a thought... what if that pic is the side of the unit, closest towards the back of the system looking forward. the "grill" could be ventilation on the back side of the unit, with the little button at the end of the grill to open the case/face off to customize (as has also been rumored). the side we are looking at looks to be the top part in the vertical pic. notice that it kind of protrudes upwards a bit from the rest of the surface, similar to the way the top of the vertical pic
not sure what the chrome piece is though.

Hmm... I'm thinking maybe the capsule-shaped thing to the far right pops off and you can insert something there. A mini-HD perhaps? It doesn't look like it's a button and I doubt it's just for show.
That is real, and that is ugly. At least, straight on from the front, it doesn't look very good. But I'll reserve judgement for the official unveiling. I hated the look of the PS2 at first, but that grew on me to the point where I love it. This one has potential as long as the rest of it doesn't look like such a cobjob. PEACE.
That looks like the "left" side of the system when looking head-on. That's the only side in the pic that would suggest a raised surface like that. I'd guess the vents are to the back, and that panel is removeable via that little button in the foreground. Argh, speculating kinda sucks.Spike said:
