That looks like the "left" side of the system when looking head-on. That's the only side in the pic that would suggest a raised surface like that. I'd guess the vents are to the back, and that panel is removeable via that little button in the foreground. Argh, speculating kinda sucks. PEACE.

Yeah, I meant the meshed part is probably from the backside.

i guess just different strokes for different folks. aside from the circle of light bit (which i admit, is the weakest part of the design), its fairly low key, simple and white.

i think seeing a more natural perspective other then directly head on will give us a better idea of what it really looks like anyways

Hrm. You're right. Well damn. I take it back. What are the chances that the same guy would use two different fonts for a watermark? Take the time on one to make sure it's outlined in black then white to make it less easy to remove, but then on the other just make it gray?

hrm. Do fakers generally put that much thought into watermarks? I would think their energies would be too focused on making a believable fake to even begin thinking about that. Just sayin'.

That's ugly...looks real though, similiar to the colony pic that's been going around. I would remove the XBOX 360 logo on the tray, and paint it as the same color as the rest of the console, and do something about that huge green halo.

The horizontal pic had some pretty bad compression and looked like a render, but the vertical one almost looks like its real - not real as in not a fake, but real as in the actual unit and not a render or drawing.

Certain things look out of proportion with this new pic, the design isn't as unfussy or as simple as either of the above two.

edit - that element is advocating the design might be telling of its authenticity?

The source pic is from a very reliable mod over at something awful. here is one of his posts from the thread at SA Games:

Nope, this is from someone who contacted me and said this was a leaked graphic but they didn't want to post it because they wanted to reduce the risk to the person who gave it to them. I looked it over in Photoshop and decided to post it. It's obviously not a raw photo but absolutely nothing you see by any professional designer is. My guess is that it's a rendering or Illustrator drawing with the type parts cleaned up/recreated in Photoshop. This is actually really common, it's really hard to capture details like the memory card port writing and you can optimize how they're displayed for different sizing of the graphic.

The fact that the original was CMYK, had color correction data and a [well made] clipping path was enough for me. I had to convert it in order for it to display in a web browser. It also matches pretty much every report about it so far which is of course a little suspicious. Again, I'm not saying this is definitely it, look at the question mark in the title of the thread. But from the file I got and what I know it's the most reasonable so far.

If you get the SA sense of humor, you'd understand the watermarks.

I call real. The detail on this thing is amazing. Check the higher res pic and look at the eject button. You can actually see that there's something behind it, like any real piece of electronics. I've never seen a mockup be *this* detailed. It's got to be real.

Also in the vertical pic, the top left corner of the plastic doesn't line up exactly, like there's a slight bend in the plastic in that corner.

Between that and Guy LeDouche's post I'm agreeing with the quote in his post, that it's an actual photo of the housing with the lettering made clearer via photoshop for display purposes.

Ryck: the controllers are wireless. It's not a port, it's an IR receiver. I'm not going to explain why a DVD-based system with no included HD (or hell, even with an HD) would need memory cards.

are we sure thats a power button? maybe the power button is by the memory port b, and the circle of light just lights up when turned on.
