Can we officially stop acting like babies now when Marvel hires a director with a less-than-stellar filmography?

"But I want Edgar Wright!!!!!"

Just saw it earlier this afternoon and enjoyed it quite a bit. I thought that it was a better film than Age of Ultron. It has a lot to do with the story being of a smaller scale (ha ha ha), and the plot having fewer moving parts than Avengers 2.

This was way better than the trailers made it out to be. Michael Peña needs to be in every MCU movie from now on. It was also refreshing to have an ending that involved saving the world without involving an entire city being destroyed.

I just saw it.

Ant-Man
Very mixed bag. Simultaneously contains some of the best and worst of Marvel films traits/scenes. The opening act takes a while to get started and felt very boring. However as soon as he gets the suit things start going at a better pace. The humour is there but some jokes do fall flat. It tends to get overly cliche at times but there are moments of sheer brilliance like the "I heard that..." flashbacks, suitcase disintegration battle, train set piece and the trippy subatomic world scene that make it worthwhile. I hate to bring up the whole Edgar Wright issue but you can certainly feel his influence throughout. I just wish we had got to see his entire vision as it would have been something special.

Well you don't have to wonder that. Cause we've gotten multiple great X-Men flicks. And they didn't even have to come from Marvel! Funny thing, variety.
I'd hardly call two good movies "multiple." And those good movies are good in spite of having not very accurate characterizations. Singer coming back is the best thing for that franchise but the scripts lack some of the little touches that make certain characters in mcu movies feel "right." I guess I'm still just mad about what they did to Cyclops.

Singer has a chance to right the ship. I wasn't crazy about DOFP but it solidified for me that X-Men has a home with him.

If this new FF sucks I dunno what I'm gonna do with myself though. That's a family of characters and villains that are intrinsically tied to the Marvel Universe, and would absolutely make the MCU better. But if the new movie is good then I can stomach a different take on the property.

Kinda makes me wish it would be possible to have a movie multiverse. MCU could have every character but other studios could do alternate-reality stories basically like they are now.

I would call 2 great, movies and one good one successful enough.

Wolverine, Magneto, Xavier, Nightcrawler and a few others have great characterization. Who gives a damn about accuracy if the movie is no good? Like the X-Men films, the MCU has plenty of duds and a lot of mediocre (IM 2/3, Thor's, Cap 1 are poor). This is the nature of a lot of comic book movies. Accuracy is cool for comic fans, yeah and the costumes can look good. But if we get bland movies it means naught.

I loved first class in spite of its flaws.

It's strength was in its casting for sure. Because of the two leads I enjoyed it but liked dofp a lot more.

Fox knocked it out of the park twice with a magneto/xavier combo. Stands alongside the best of other comic book casting

Am I the only one who liked this MORE than Age of Ultron? I mean, I was just surprised at how good it was. Also, I loved the
Garret Morris
cameo.

I'm kinda pissed my theater had the volume down so low. It really kills the experience for me. I would have gone and complained but I didn't want to miss any of the movie :-(

You're not the only one my friend, this movie is definitely better than AoU, for me the story was better, the comedy was better and the action sequences were way better than I expected.

In Edgar Wright we trust :3

This movie was pretty fun. Not sure where I'd rank it with the rest of the Marvel movies, but I definitely enjoyed it more than Age of Ultron.
