I don't think people saying a good word on social media or telling their friends over dinner is asking much of anyone. It's what I'd expect if you enjoyed it.
When Star-Lord started dancing around the cave (one of my favorite movie openings of all time) and they were completely straight-faced I knew I was in for a rough ride...
Man, when I saw GotG in the theater for the first time half of the audience was practically up and dancing in the aisles. Fantastic opening to a film, I still smile every time I see the start of it.
Your students are terrible bores, lol!
We are seeing Ant-Man tomorrow, wish it was tonight.

Call me Mr nofunallowed.jpg but if that happened when I saw it I'd be irritated as fuck. Then again I'm usually someone who gets annoyed at people talking or cheering during films. Laughing at jokes is fine though.
On-topic: Have to wait for Tuesday to see this. Going to be a long weekend.
I cracked up when TI and him showed up at the house in the van.
"Back it up."
Another thing I forgot that I liked about the movie: Judy Greer was in it! I love Judy Greer and did not know or maybe didn't remember that she had been cast for this.
just came back from watching a 4pm show because no friend of mine wanted to go see it and I decided to go solo. I loved it, call me crazy but I rank it tier 1 in MCU movies along with Ironman 1, Guardians and Winter Soldier (I havent watched Ultron and I actually dont rank Avengers 1 that high, besides the geek factor of seeing them all together, I didnt think it was that good). Major spoilers ahead, including credit scene spoilers:
-Loved the smaller scale of the movie. It felt very personal, even if the editing was a little wack sometimes.
-Theres A LOT more ant stuff than I expected, loved that. Some really cool visuals.
-The shrinking action makes for a very different movie and theres some really cool set pieces. Loved the final fight (as a big Micro Machines fan and the idea of seeing toys up close, that was right up my alley)
-Comedy was good, Im a big fan of Rudd but I thought Pena was really funny. Villain was meh but what else is new for MCU. Better than Ronan at least
-Anthony
- Dat fucking Wasp suit Gimme Ant-Man 2 with proper Wasp please. In fact, do we know if shes going to be in Civil War?
-Almost noone stayed for the Wasp scene and NOBODY stayed for the last scene lol. I was all alone in the room with a pissed off cleaning lady eyeing me. The last scene itself was...alright, I dont really need Civil War hype, im hyped enough as it is
The negative? I dont know about your countries theatres, but paying fucking 12.50€ (7 for the ticket and 5.50 for a popcorn/drink combo) for a mediocre blurry screen, a hot room and a bunch of assholes around you? And they wonder why nobody goes to the movies anymore (here at least)
edit: oh I forgot one thing
-The Falcon scene DOES feel forced, but at the same time, it establishes the movie in the MCU, sets up Scott for Civil War and joining the Avengers eventually. So I dont mind it.
This is still my biggest complaint, and it completely ruined the movie for me. Spader's Ultron is just so thoroughly flat, nonthreatening and completely removed from what I wanted out of Ultron, not just in characterization, but in visual design and threat level.
Especially with Civil War so close, that they'd fuck up what a nightmarish event like unleashing Ultron on the world should have been is a massive blow to my trust in the MCU.
Just saw it! Most fun I've with a MCU movie since the first Iron Man. The perspective and effects were great. He may not be as popular as the other heavy hitters but the comedy and action make this movie a sleeper. Well done.
Same. I see the problems with it, but I still loved it none the less. (On certain fronts it actually outpaces the first one, though of course in other areas the first is a bit more solid IMO.)
I loved it, would rank it well above the first Avengers movie. Just didn't like Ultron's characterization (it worked for the film but would have preferred comics-accurate Ultron) and it did have serious pacing issues.
So Antman is probably one of my favorite superheroes ever. I don't want to get all mopey but reading comics and his story in a marvel handbook in high school really made me connect with hank Pam and Scott Lang specifically.
I have been waiting for this movie for a decade. To see the unique powers displayed on screen was basically my dream and this movie delivered on everything I ever hoped it would.
Thoughts:
~ The Powers. The way they displayed the powers were spectacular. See Scott use his powers in creative ways was a joy to see.
~ The cast. Oh my god is Michael Pena hilarious in film. His "stories" were amazing.
Paul Rudd solid in role of Scott Lang. Believable as a down to earth guy with dry sense of humor. His interactions with his daughter, Cassie( whose fantastic and cute as a button) were something you don't see to much in superhero films or comics.
-Michael Douglas shine as my ideal hank Pym. For how generic this will sound, he really captured a man scared of what he unleashed on world and someone that realizes he's not as good or great man/father as he wants to be.
-Darren Cross played but Corey stoll was completely fine "villain" in movie. He had the right amount witty, motivation and ambiguity in scenes with hank Pym to not feel like a cookie cutter villain like malekith or stane. He played as best he could but obviously didn't push it where I could have fallen flat.
I do wish they give a little more time to the Pym particles effect his mind.
"Do I look like a monster" chills.
-Hope van dyne played Evangeline Lilly, who is rocking some awesome hair while being a cool and confident character. Her scene with Michael Douglas, learning about
her mother fate
really got to me.
Can't wait till she becomes wasp!
~ This movie has probably one of my favorite scenes in a movie ever. It a long weird thing to put in Hollywood blockbuster and love for that. You will know when see it.
~ The Ants. How can forget the ants, they why looked was great but more importantly the way they were used as part of Scott's arsenal was creatively comic book.
Rip Anthony.
~ The Action Scenes. From the brutal fights of Daredevil to man of steel's dragon ball z destruction, Antman's finds its niche with it's size altering power. From going small to run on a gun to fighting with mundane items like toy trains.
~ The Comedy. I'm not one to be critical of comedies since I don't particularly enjoy them but I thought this was really funny. Right up their with Guardians of the galaxy, not to overburdening.
This movie just has a ton of heart and as I said before probably one of my favorite movies of all time. I can't wait to see it again this weekend which is not something I ever had done before.
I loved it, would rank it well above the first Avengers movie. Just didn't like Ultron's characterization (it worked for the film but would have preferred comics-accurate Ultron) and it did have serious pacing issues.
I didn't mind Ultron, I just wish we got more of his crazy side. Pacing is the film's biggest problem but for me personally, the movie's 3 biggest sins are 1. No Hawkeye trick shots, 2. No gaping Ultron maw, 3. Thor didn't get to say his line
Ant Man? Depends, the effect shots are awesome, a couple of scenes with ordinary people looked a bit tv-like. I even thought of NeoGAF because of this *g*
But man, those shrinking scenes. Perfect, cant wait to see what they will do in Civil War with Scott.
And man, I loved those little Spoiler->
Spidey references. Good to see that he will most likely be in Steves Team.
