Just came back from watching it with a co-worker and wow, pretty great film and imo, definitely up there with my favorite Marvel films. I remember thinking it was gonna be just so-so from the first trailer(later trailers were better) and Wright not making it but it was a really fun film with TONS of laughs and great action scenes. The audience I was with seem to really enjoy the movie too thanks to a lot of the comedic scenes....
I think the ping pong paddle scene got the biggest laugh
. Love the little hints here and there Marvel put in the film too....nice little winks and nudges for future films. :D

If I was to rank my "favorite" Marvel films, it would be: Winter Soldier > Iron Man 1/GotG > Ant Man > Avengers 1

Saw it this afternoon and thought it was pretty great. Loved Paul Rudd in the lead role and Michael Douglas made a pretty good Pym as well.

Want to see it again.

If anyone is thinking of seeing it with D-Box though I'd save your money, I don't think it was used enough to justify the additional price.

I thought it was pretty good-the RT score seems spot on actually. There's a lot of great scenes, and the third act really awesome.

There are some flaws-pacing is an issue, and I'll agree the film looks kind of flat at times, especially a lot of scenes in Pyms house. The ants steal the show, though. So awesome.

Also-I want to say I had no problems with Yellowjacket at all. I thought he was great-truly threatening and menacing. He's responsible for some disturbing stuff...

If my theater goes by anything (most popular movie theater in NE Houston, then Antman is going to lose to Minions. Almost a whole theater was sold out today for minions and I have only seen one Antman theater %65 full. It's depressing shit.

Quite enjoyed it. Not as much as TWS or GOTG, but up there with the Iron Man movies and Avengers 1 for me.

Loved Peña. Really liked the action scenes. And the general lack of angst and moping. I liked the villain too. In my top 3 MCU villains. (With Loki and Trevor Slattery/Killian being the other two).

They already have his exclusive clip up: http://teamcoco.com/video/paul-rudd...aylist=x;eyJ0eXBlIjoicmVjZW50IiwiaWQiOm51bGx9

It went as expected lol

It's great because I knew Marvel wouldn't be happy with Rudd's normal Mac and Me gag, but I knew he still had to somehow do it and I had really hoped it would have some Ant-Man related edits worked into the original clip.

I was not disappointed, though I did sort of hope the Mac would have been overlaid with something else like an Ant. Still I laughed pretty hard at what they did with the clip.

Just got out, I LOVED it. Third act is my favorite sequence in any Marvel/superhero movie, I was absolutely enthralled the entire time. Gooooood shit.
So refreshing to see a Marvel finale that isn't "huge thing is crashing down" again, that's been the finale for the last 4 MCU flicks now.

I still think TWS is the better and more tight movie overall, but the highs in this are higher than anything else in the MCU imo. Very strong second place and I can't wait to watch it again.

Also,
that Spider Man reference aaaahhhhhh!!!!!

Just came back from it. Was very pleasantly surprised. Loved Rudd and Douglas. Funny heist movie that also has good action.

The trailers really don't do this movie justice.

But a large thing did crash down lol

Just got out of this and enjoyed it a lot. A lot different from a standard Marvel movie but I liked the slower pace, and the third act had a lot of really clever sequences.

Not sure how I'd rank it overall but I had fun. Anecdotal it may not mean much but there was barely anyone in my theater though, which is a shame.

Didn't quite work for me as well as I hoped. It's missing a clear voice behind it, and I'm not saying that voice should've been Wright necessarily. The film felt a bit tonally confused at points to me, and the humor was never as funny as I thought it could be. There's some cool weird stuff, and the third act is pretty great as the action is interesting, but it was missing a spark. None of the performances stood out to me except for Corey Stoll delivering a deliciously hammy villain in the vein of Jeff Bridges in Iron Man 1. That's what this felt like; Iron Man 1 in current MCU clothing. Unfortunately, it doesn't rise from it's derivative nature enough though.

I would somewhat agree with you. That's a good way to describe it as lacking a clear voice and being off tonally sometimes.

Saw it today. I find it more enjoyable than Ultron it might be in my top 3 MCU movies. Reaaallly having an internal debate as to whether I liked it more than Guardians. You could feel some of the Wright stuff in there, just less snappy.

Just watched it. Only have a couple of thoughts.

1. Sorta went into the movie cold so I didn't know the much about the premise. Pleasantly surprised that it was a heist comedy the whole time. Heist comedies are fun in small doses.

2. Micheal Pena is the best character.

3. Evangeline Lilly looked really good in this film. I think I have a thing for the bob cut now.

This baby was a palate cleanser for me after the slog that was Age of Ultron. The sub atomic scene was wonderfully funky. Shades of 2001:Space Odyssey

Really fun movie and great casting. Way better than I expected. Happy it turned out good and hope it makes a good run in theatres.

This movie was so fucking worth it for the
Disintegration gag.

Overall though I had so much fun watching it. In truth Ant-Man never really meant a lot to me though I knew of him going into it and such but Paul Rudd really drove this film for me. All the leads did really.

I loved every second of it. Some fucking kids talking nearly the entire time almost ruined it for me. Fuck you, you stupid kids.

My showing had a fight almost break out. We're a little fuzzy on the details but one guy said something after a joke line, then someone else told them to shut up, then the first guy stood up and yelled, "say that to my face, bitch!" and everyone was just like, "you're both at the 10 PM showing of Ant-Man on a Thursday, how tough can you really be?" and then it settled down.

Strange though.

I saw this at the Seattle Science Center IMAX at 10pm last night and loved it. I really love superhero movies with a fun new power or character, and the shrinking/enlarging/ant control stuff in this movie was put to great use. Way more interesting to me than the usual super strong dude with robo-armor/shield/hammer/anger issues. We saw it in 3D and I thought it was pretty good (better than Avengers 2 that I thought was barely even there) but you can definitely tell it was a 3D conversion, I could see some weird effects around people or landscapes on occasion, but maybe that was because I was seeing it on such a massive screen.

Me and my girlfriend got to the theater about 30-40 minutes early (I saw Avengers opening night at the same time and the line was already gigantic 45 minutes beforehand), but I didn't need to worry because there was only like 15-20 people in the entire theater, haha. A shame that more people weren't seeing it, but at least we got good seats!

For people who haven't seen the movie yet and aren't the biggest of the big marvel fans (or just don't like waiting through all the credits), I'd recommend skipping the after credits scene. The mid credit scene was really good, but the one after ALL the credits was kinda mediocre. Not really spoilers, but some context for it that might be a spoiler for some people:
It just teases some stuff for the Civil War movie but not really in a fun or interesting way, it just feels like a random scene taken from that movie rather than something that got me super hyped for what's coming next.

That's kind of hilarious. Sucks for them being annoying in between though.

Very fun movie! Not sure if I would rate it above Guardians as others are but definitely a great addition to the MCU!

I'll be having nightmares about Thomas the Tank Engine for awhile now. ;_;

Just got back and I really had a good time. It was 1) a smaller scale story about 2) a hero with unique powers. Both of those aspects combined to create a really fresh installment in the MCU. The shrinking sections were fun as hell for which the 3D was rather decent.

The trailers for this movie were fucking atrocious and did it a huge disservice. I don't know who made them but they need to get another job. I was so surprised by how solid it was considering how deflated and flat the trailers were. Also, all the in-universe name drops and connections felt natural and seamless. If you're a person who enjoys Marvel movies and the MCU, or even a person who is tired of all the Avengers "punching" powers, don't be afraid of seeing Ant-Man.

Easily in the top 5 Marvel movies for me. Really fun, really energetic, loved the callbacks to the comic and other elements of the MCU. Great movie.

Movie was great. Loved it! But guys I need to settle a dispute:

Did the Russian guy say "he's in like Flynn" as a Tron reference, or "in like Flint" as in the movie?

what spider man reference? Must of missed that.

Just saw this tonight. I made a mistake and had a few too many drinks beforehand and ended up falling asleep during the first half hour of the movie. Woke up right when he got the suit though, and the rest of the movie was enjoyable enough. I liked Guardians of the Galaxy better though.

It was definitely one of the more interesting villains because of his massive acknowledgement complex in gaining Hank's approval, if not for the fact that it was pulled off rather generically. Dang it, you don't just handwave your villian's nuttiness because of "brain-affecting particles."

I'd agree though, that shrink beam's gonna give some kids nightmares for the the rest of their life. There was an audible groan of disgust in the theatre I was watching in.

Love the show, just a rung below GoTG, way better than the mess AOU. I also love there are more names dropping with the MCU. My gripe with P2 movies are how isolated feeling they were with the MCU. It is wasted it took them till the last film to fix that
