Any College Hoops 2K5 Impressions?

It's better than ESPN BBALL.

Don't have it yet but I know it is.

You know why?

College bball >>> nba ball

:D

I'm gonna get this with MGS3 later today as well. Buy it so I can beat you down on Live!

I got it. I don't like it much. I was playing a online game, up 10 in the 2nd half with a scrub team mind you(the other person was UNC) and dude ran off a 20-0 run. I was like WTF. No one on my team could make a layup the last 8 minutes. I started the "franchise" part of the game. I'm trying to recruit some hot shot center out from Cali, but he doesn't want to leave home....bastard. Oh yea, you'll get the urge to eat at Burger King....buy it and see.

OpSports forums are loving it, and from the looks of things it's awesome. I'll post some impressions when my copy arrives.

Got it. Played it. It's freakin' awesome based on my initial impressions. Will play some more before I drop detailed thoughts on the game :D

It's pretty impressive. If you're looking for a college basketball game, I can't see why you wouldn't get it. The gameplay is excellent (ball physics, AI, control) and the legacy mode is deep. Online play is smooth, and the league/tourney support in ESPNVideogames.com is as good as online gaming gets (bungie.net included).

March Madness is also a really excellent game, but CH plays well online, is a bit better offline, and is half the price.

And, like jobber, I do notice the runs. I don't think that it's rubber-band logic .... it's just basketball. BBall (especially college) is a game of runs. This simulates that well.

And Burger King? LOL - it's ..... interesting. But if this is what it takes to have A+ sports games at $20, I don't have a problem with it.

How are the animations? Last year's game seemed too stiff and robotic. But I still enjoyed it more than March Madness. Is the slam dunk competition still in it? If so, did they make it easier to pull off dunks?

Animations are still a bit stiff, but they aren't as repetitive as March Madness. They are good, and feel more physics-based, less canned.

Dunk is gone. Which is fine - I never really understood the dunk competition in a College game.

I'm betting it's just as lame as the rest of the ESPN line.
You win! It is just as lame as the rest of the ESPN line!!!

Three cheers for blind allegiance to publishers!!!!!

last years game was extremely fun in game... no one played it online and it was very rough around the edges..

for instance the Frank Erwin Center in Texas is called the Frank Irwin Center. Not a big deal, except everyone calls it 'the FEC", its just a little detail that would be nice if they nailed down... also having our actual fight song would have been nice and maybe our actual arena was in the game since TJ ford was on the cover.

I guess you're thinking I'm an EA guy?All basketball games sucked this year,College Hoops last year wasn't really good and after buying all the ESPN games and IMO all of them sucking,I don't see it changing here, sorry.

Yeah, I didn't really care for the dunk competition either. It seemed out of place and the dunks were too difficult to pull off anyway. I was just wondering if they left it in.

I agree, it's probably the best basketball game available at the moment. It just feels right. Players fast break (although the lead pass is almost too effective), pressing works, and you have to move the ball around to get a good shot.

The best part is that it plays well out of the box. It doesn't need massive slider tweaks like every other sporting game released this season. It's probably slightly fast, but other than that it's just fantastic.

Is there McDonalds sponsorship in March Madness? Maybe that's why ;)

You get SPAM in your email and the espn.com recaps on your game is very detailed. Better than a Sportscenter type of recap. I just hate that my PF can't score. The runs are rediculous. I was up on VCU by 25, then they pulled a 25-3 run late in the game.

I love it. I've yet to play online. I started a legacy with Grambling. I'm 2-7 now. Put it on the hardest level, which is MOP. I lost to TCU by 35 and Houston by 30
