I picked up the wrath of heaven today and T5. Figured Monk Doctor guy > underage girl

So, what's the verdict? It seems to be critically panned by the publications but then so was the other one for the PS2 and I personally loved it. Anyone who's played it have a review? I want to get it but I'm thinking about holding out until it goes down in price.

I looked at the back of the box and all that was there was a brief synopsis and some pics, a pretty good indication this is another 'episode' in the series rather than a sequel. So I went the cheap route, ill wait for it to drop I spose.
Fatal Shadows is definitely the best Tenchu game following the original IMO. It has improved AI (still dumb, but better) and better stage design compared to previous games.
Fatal Shadows is a prequel game, BTW. It takes place before Wrath of Heaven, when Rikimaru was still thought to be dead, hence why he isn't in the game. There's more storyline segments in Fatal Shadows as well.
BTW, I'm pretty sure that the hidden character in Wrath of Heaven plays exactly like Rin does, so there's no Rikimaru-style character this time around.

Sure, I can see it dropping pretty quick, too, since no one seems to care about it, plus it has "Sega" on the box. :lol
You should have gotten the Xbox version of WoH (Return from Darkness) instead though. It got some slight improvements and a new level or two IIRC.
the gameplay seems exactly the same as return from darkness to me, they also added some nice new graphical effects. I havent had much chance to play it though because i've been distracted by gt4. My girlfriends been playing it though because shes obsessed with tenchu. So far she said it's not as good as the previous one. Theres also no multiplayer stuff which sucks I really dug the co-op stages. I'm very happy about the japanese option otherwise it's like listening to a ninja valley girl ugh

I was wondering how this latest Tenchu is, but am pretty happy with the earlier games as is. I've been hooked over the past couple weeks on Tenchu: Return from Darkness (Xbox).
There are two extra stages in there as well as several other Xbox-only things such as the Viper (strength-enhancing) potion, compared to WoH. I forget what the other unique stage is, but the other is the Samurai Mansion, and it is--obviously--a good, memorable one.
Then this weekend I grabbed a $5 used (perfect, and apparently never played despite coming from Blockbuster) copy of Tenchu 1 to see how it all started. Wow, getting used to the lack of draw distance on the PS1 takes some time, but it ended up being a great game once you learn how to work around not being able to see anything beyond 40 virtual feet...
But as for Fatal Shadows, the lack of extra modes and having only two characters--one of them a kid--in Fatal Shadows means I'm going to happily re-Grand Master these earlier games until it drops in price.

ouch sold shinobi? Its not even worth much anymore, and as a game SHinobi is better. Tho Nightshade is a lot of fun.

Hey, I dig Ayame as well (and indeed, also kept Nightshade and sold Shinobi, this seems common :lol). And boy, did she have attitude in Tenchu 1 compared to RfD/WoH! Too bad that "third" Ayame costume in Tenchu 1 isn't available in Fatal Shadows...ahem...
BTW, is Ayame in Fatal Shadows more like her ice-bitch from Tenchu 1 or more balanced as in RfD/WoH?

Good to hear. When I said I dug the Ayame character, I was referencing her in RfD form.
