Should the new PlayStation Portable have 'back touch' or has Vita killed any chance of Sony trying that again?

Was there any games worth salvaging from PS Vita's library that used the back touch?

Also would that lead to Back Touch for PS6 controller?

It was basically used in the Vita's trademark gimmick game, Tearaway and... that's about it. I guess DJ Max Technika Tune used it too, if I recall correctly. Just an unintuitive choice across the board.

This time around, Team Asobi would use it, everyone would ooh and ahh at some the new Astro Bot gimmickry, and it would be forgotten just as quickly as it was with Tearaway.

Have we confirmed this will be an actual stand alone portable device. Or are Sony just going to make a new portal device that works with the PS6?

No, its was stupid back then and is still stupid.
Just like the idea of another Sony handheld.
I can just see this working when the PS6 and the to be handheld share the same games.
Sony showed again and again that they cant support 2 systems.
Currently they struggle with the one they have alone.
(My 2ct and personal opinion)

I think the touchpad on the back of the device strangely makes more sense than the touchpad on the front.

Warframe demonstrated this quite well back in the day with the swipe to fire power gimmick - it was near impossible to move + aim + fire a special ability at the same time due to using a swipe gesture to trigger an ability.

with the pad on the back on the device, your thumbs never leave the sticks, and can quickly do the same swipe up, down, left or right while maintaining movement and right stick aiming. and your index finger can be maintained on the triggers.

Of note - this is entirely about the touchpad, and not a front facing screen with touch capability.

Nope the handheld should be a similar design to ps5 and the middle part should be an LCD display similar to that of the Wii u which designed to display mini map or backpack in games last of us etc etc bigger and better battery

NO, and especially don't make game mechanics that use it unless you want the game to be stuck on the device and need to be redone for other systems.

None of those gimmick should be supported anymore, nor touch or any gyro. Leave them to all those shitty Iphone games

This, it's an intuitive gesture.
