I used to be late for school everyday because of this show years back. It was back around the time when cartoons were actually trying to be original and cool. This, Batman, Gargoyles, Pirates of Darkwater. It blended action/adventure, humor, scifi/fantasy PERFECTLY. And what made it so badass it that shows referenced episodes WAY back in the beginning. And it actually made me almost tear up a few times. In one episode there was this huge gathering of warriors to take down the main bad guy and one of them was actually KILLED. He came back but not in some sugary copout. Or the one episode where it showed Max's bodyguard whose name I forget. They went back in time to his homeland and there's this ancient mural that tells the future and it shows his eventual death. I fukking loved this series and I hope it resurfaces one day. Whether that's a DVD. syndication or remake I just want it.

On a sidenote this show mixed genres in a way I'm surprised hasn't been done since. I would love to see a modern-day urban fairytale.

It was all about Norman dammit, as he was the best character and had the best line in the series. Remember when he confronted the man who killed his father?

Badguy: Wait! Wait! If you kill me, you'll be no better than me!

Norman: ::grinning:: I can live with that.

Yeah, a best friend and a would-be girlfriend. Can't remember their names at the moment. His mom also came along every now and then. Hell, they even made fun of the fact that they never named her or gave a family name.

Virgil: Greetings mother of the Mighty One.

Max: Hey mom.

Norman: Hello there, Mrs....er, Mrs.....Mom....

Wasn't Mighty Max like the boy version of Polly Pocket? I think I used to have one of the playsets.

Virgil was awesome, but I don't remember Norman. :/

Mighty Max kicked the crap out the faux anime series they show now. It was such an awesome show, I remember running home from the bus stop to watch it!

Mighty Max was an awesome show, even the last episode which was
basically resetting the show to the beginning
kicked ass.

Villain: [while being dangled over a cliff by Norman] You can't kill me! If you do, you'll be no better than me!
Norman : [drops him] I can live with that.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Max and Norman enter a room with several solid stone slabs as furniture]
Max : Yeesh, what is this place?
Norman : My room, Mighty One
Max : Ah. Remind me never to have a pillow fight with you, Norman.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Max : My mentor is an over-sized chicken?
Virgil : I'm a fowl, actually.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[Zygote faces his T-Rex against Max's devolved pet iguana, Thor]
Prof. Zygote: My dinosaur can beat your dinosaur!
Max : Oh, now we're REALLY mature.

Those characters look familiar but I don't remember the show.

Gargoyles was awesome though, really great story telling.

I remember Conan the Barbarian having a pretty good story too.

I know. There was something about that ending that was so satisfying. It just felt right, nothing like a copout. It flipped that cartoon cliche
Lots of cartoons reset things, but him knowing the right way to do things was cool.
I was jumping down at the end. Though one question.
Before time was reset weren't Virgil and Norman killed?

Yes. Norman by a giant spider IIRC and Virgil at Stonehendge by Skullmaster.

Thanks.

It's said alot but they truely do not make them like this anymore. Justice Leaque is the one thing keeping serious American action/adventure animation alive. It's either silly comedy or some anime clone. Oh well.

Speaking of funny adventure cartoons. One thing I would love to see is an Adult Swim Lobo cartoon from the DC animation group.

True, though to be honest I was never a big DC fan(as I don't like JL that much), but I truely enjoyed Batman: TAS, as that was very fun to watch, as was Batman Beyond.

Comedy shows can be alright, but I miss the days of Animaniacs and Freakazoid.

As for the anime copycats or however one wants to label them, I do enjoy Teen Titans when I get a chance, as it is a fun show. And hell, Megas just fucking rules.

I love cartoons always have, always will.

Just alot of downtime recently. Getting a chance to see the stuff they put on the air. Kids today got it bad.

The worst part is alot of the great ones will never be seen again. MM, Rocko and some others I remember liking like SWAT Kats, Eek the Cat and lots more. Damn cartoons used to be AWESOME.

Ugh... that Bananaman cartoon. That was one of worst cartoons I ever saw. Bad animation and cheesy. When the opening theme came on i knew it was time to do homework.

And personally, i think kids today are better off than kids from the 80s. It's only those who experienced 90s cartoons that witnessed the golden age. The 00s is still full of great cartoons but focus too much on comedy.

:lol Me too, I used to hate that because Mighty Max was one of the dreaded 7:30 cartoons and I was supposed to leave at 7:45, it was worth being late though. That cartoon had a ton of depth to it, and the flashback episodes were just awesome. I still remember how deep and eerie it was when they showed Max's predecessor falling to his supposed death. Another thing I always loved was Max's hilarious relationship with his mom, lots of funny cracks.

"Moooooom, not in front the zombies!" :lol

Speaking of Mighty Max, I just dug up my old playsets. Man, those things are awesome. Too bad it was so easy to lose the pieces.

I remember saving up for them all in grade 2.

Mistaken iRobbery!
The ending for the show was lame if I remember correctly. Go back in time to the events of the first episode?!?

I used to love Mighty Max, I have almost every playset in a big box at home.

I'd like just stopped liking them when they finished making them.

Ive got a couple of cartoon eps on video, the Snake one (where Max fancies that girl) and the one where Norman says that quote against that bloke called Spike with all the twigs and sticks in his face. it was pretty gruesome when you see Spike actually sticking them in his face because he falls on one then like sort of likes it so he sticks more in his face.

The double episode where Max is against Magus was my favourite.

I would buy a DVD with all eps oN!!!

Nostalgia is a sad but powerful thing. Remember that a lot of cartoons that ran at the same as this tended to be pretty awful, as they do in every generation.

Dude Conan the Avengerer! I was late to school for this too.

What was with puttin cartoons on weekday mornings just as you were off to school? I remember James Bond Jr. was like this too.

Conan's ending had a real epic feel to it. I liked how that dragon he freed earlier in the series showed up to help.
