Been fighting Alexa for 2 weeks, just does not want to listen to me and plays what she wants. I am litereally screaming at it to get it to do what I want. The others in the house must think I am nutcase.
Scientific progress allows us to do what we already do more efficiently. Look at all of the homeless people on the streets, they aren't homeless because of any resource shortage, they are homeless because fundamentally we don't care about our fellow human beings, we only pretend to for social reasons for the most part. People are valued in our society to the extent that they produce value and contribute to GDP, outside of that and any friends or family that care about you if you have that, people do not care, and will leave you behind the moment it's convenient. When science advances, we will leave behind a greater number of people that we don't care about as their ability to contribute to GDP diminishes.
Many of our desires are disordered, especially among those governing our society. When we advance scientific knowledge we become more efficient at oppressing each other and indulging in disordered behavior. As science advances, governments and private corporations will have greater power to police the private behaviors of citizens/employees. You will lose freedom. You will be expected more to behave like a computer program running scripts or a cog in a machine. If people understood what scientific progress will do to society they would revolt and make it illegal.
