Anyone else obsessed with any old game? Me personally can't stop playing Halo 3

BeforeU

Oft hope is born when all is forlorn.
Its weird. Call it nostalgia or perfect FPS sandbox created by Bungie, but even after 19 years since release I still load up Halo 3 on MCC to blow off steam. No matter if I am sad, happy or just bored, Halo 3 cures me. I jump on a random level or just fuck around in forge and multiplayer. I love FPS games btw, I have played all COD, Doom, Battlefield and even currently have Infinite but I still fucking love halo 3. Is it just me? It can't be just me right? Just over the weekend, I spent couple of hours playing Warzone, but I still ended the weekend playing Halo 3 Slayer match lol I don't play unhealthy amount or anything. Couple of hours every month, but been almost 19 years. I don't think there will ever be any FPS that can replace Halo 3

So GAF do you have any game that you always come back to, for nostalgia reason or when new games just aren't satisfying your itch

I have a handful of NES games I will play multiple times throughout the year. Punch out, rad racer, etc

I'm also not a fan of modern sports games and tend to stick to the 16bit versions on the Genesis and play those periodically. I'm taking part in an NHL 94 tournament next month so I've been playing that recently

I bought the original Deus Ex on release in 2000 and have never uninstalled it on any PC I've owned since. I don't play it every day, obviously, but I always have at least one active playthrough going.

I'll replay True Crime Streets of LA, Shinobi (PS2), and The Getaway often. Also turn my brain off and play Virtua Fighter 5 alot. Peak nostalgia for me.

Onimusha
Metal Gear Solid 1-3
Legacy Of Kain: BO, SR1 and 2

Those are my most revisited (usually at least once a year)

This is what Halo CE was for me until the servers went down. Nothing ever will replace that game...especially MCC which ruined it by removing hit feedback. Maybe I should give Halo 3 a bigger chance. The mouse control felt weird when I tried MCC ver but I didn't try very hard to fix it. Today I keep going back to Infinite firefight just because I like waves of enemies with zombies style revivable teammates. When I don't know what else to play, it's always mindless fun.

I've actually been having a great time in Infinite MP recently. Loved the campaign on Heroic too. Halo 3 back in 2007 was good times though. Stayed up countless nights until 6 or 7 in the morning chasing that rank 50 (think I hit 47 or 48).

For me, nothing scratches that itch like Doom Eternal. I know Gaf worships the game so I don't have to elaborate. Years ago it was DMC 1 and Zone of the Enders 2 on PS2. Both perfect action games.

I think Halo CE is my most replayed game ever, most games I'm just one and done. Wouldn't say obsessed anymore but every few years I might replay it. After that probably AoM.

Halo CE and GTA Vice City. If I don't have much play time. I would just listen to ambient sounds and traverse the locale. For gameplay it's RE4.

Recently bought Quake for €3 on PS5.

Holy shit, this game still rocks. The level design, the sounds, everything is amazing. Never expected that I would still like it that much.

Old Halo games just make me sad. Halo 3 to me is the greatest game ever created. Has features that 99% of games nowadays don't have

I'm angry sad mad over what 343i/ Microsoft has allowed to happen to the Halo franchise

I still play Halo 3 and does POE count now? Game is a decade old

You can't actually dodge all that, you have to destroy the boss just pixels away from your doom, and the bullets will be cancelled into gold.
The game is made in such a manner that you can not kill the boss unless you are perfectly positioned and know exactly his weak spots, and even so, it will be down to milliseconds.

This is just the 1st mini boss from the 1st level and, in that particular scene, i am already dead.

Damn that game 😬

The first Tomb Raider is a major comfort food game for me. I'll randomly pop in and play a few levels once in a while. There really hasn't been a game like it in terms of atmosphere and gameplay.

I have a fondness for Rygar.

If you decide to play it, Eruga's Forest and Eruga itself are the casual filters.

It has some inscrutable gameplay mechanics, but once you figure it out it can be beaten in 4 hours.

Chrono Trigger DS

I consider it the best port of the game. I 💯 everything in the game and even got all endings. I had to replay this game 20 times through New Game Plus to get everything to 💯 completion. I tend to replay this game once a year on New Game Plus

I'm old enough to be triggered by someone calling Halo 3 "old". Oh lord, what I've become... Anyway, my, lets call it nowadays momentary retro obsession, is Super Mario Bros 3. Bui I also replay SOTN at least once a year. That's a true obsession.

Halo 3 very old game? Come on guys, teach him what "very old" means

I guess its a matter of perspective lol for someone in early 30s, I was I think 12 when I played Halo 3 for the first time. So it happened LONG LONG time ago

Zelda OoT might be the game that I played through the most, but it's not quite "comfort food" level stuff like you're talking about.

I don't know if it would be classed as old but I've recently started Monster Boy and the cursed Kingdom on Steam Deck, having already completed it on Switch, PS4 and Xbox. I was never a big fan of the old Wonder Boy games but for some reason this game just clicked with me.

I constantly find myself replaying old games. This is my last console generation.

I'm fully investing in retro nowadays. No woke,no gaas,no garbage mtx,no message...Just fun ❤️ Funny how such a simple concept is so forgotten in today's industry.

metroid series, zelda wind waker, zelda minish cap, and the first zelda. brave fencer musashi and bunch of old games in the era. playing Goemon series now.part of my life is resolving at old games, especially if i find fan translated games released.

Battlefield 3 on xbox multiplayer.

But honestly I can't tell who's cheating or not anymore. Takes the fun out of it. You see dudes blatantly float in the sky and one shot kill you when you spawn - the obvious cheaters - then you start to question what about the cheaters who are just a little more subtle.
