Anyone having doubts about Super Mario Galaxy?

I was cruising through youtube looking at SMG movies to rekindle my hype when certain thoughts started to pop into my head:

*Will it just be planet-hopping? Is there an actual hub? Will there be bigger, land-based worlds?

*Will it be easier to control (those ppl playing must either suck or had no idea how to use the wiimote)

*Will the bosses get harder in the finished product?

I'm sure these were discussed days after E3 but still I'm worried for the game. I'd hate to see it get hyped to high heaven only to come crashing down when its launched *cough*sunshine*cough*

What do you guys think right now?

I'm not sure, maybe someone else can confirm this, but I remember reading in interviews with Nintendo that the Galaxy shown at E3 was patched together for the show and the final product maybe be a different.

So I'm staying away from pre-emptive nitpicking.

The only doubt I have about Super Mario Galaxy deals solely with getting to play it in 2007. That said, please please please PLEASE prove me wrong, Nintendo. I can't wait until 2008 for this beautiful game.

I'm almost certain it wasn't

Not at all. Reports have said it played beautifully, so I'm set. Kinda want there to be planets that don't seem like they're planets...achieving basically a normal level that we've come to know well in a Mario game. A mix of these with intergalactic travels makes this an amazing Mario game, for me.

Oh, but, please Nintendo, give Mario a space helmet. That'd be cool.

I'd be more worried about it actually coming out this year, more than anything. Wouldn't surprise me if it didn't.

I don't care how long it takes. I already have my Wii and 360 and probably getting my wow account back. Take your time, Ninty...I want this to be the game that makes fans, haters, and everyone else NEED a Wii. I want this to be the best game I've ever played.

It's Mario in Space instead of like the Mushroom Kingdom or whatever. Of course I'm worried. ~_~ It'll probably play nothing at all like a real Mario game.

You're wrong.
So the final game might be something totally different? The thing I read close to that was that the Miyamoto said the final product won't just be planet hopping and they just wanted to show many environments in one or something.

Every preview from E3 says hi.

I'd rather space physics than a stupid water pack.
These comments both make me sad. What the hell, people.

Its Mario 64....in Spaaaaaace!

If you were sick of Mario 64 on the Beach, why would you want to look foward to this?

Mario is collecting more stars
Mario's main attack is to go Crash-Bandicoot-sickhouse on them
Mario also collects little stars if you hover the remote's pointer over them.

What the hell, indeed. You're getting sad over someone disliking a previous Mario game?

Super Mario Sunshine was a pretty good game. It just didn't feel like a Mario game. I don't know how to really flesh out my opinion better than that...it just felt like...I dunno...not Mario.

8.5/10

Have super high hopes for SMG, though. I just hope they take all the time in the world to perfect it, because I'm sure it'll be the only real Mario game on the Wii.

I think it looks fantastic, but I'm still worried after SMS. :/ I don't give a shit where the game takes place - the island theme isn't what drug down SMS.

I have the exact same doubts as you.
I also have some other personal grips...

First off, it seems to go away a bit from the Mario essence -- like Sunshine. At least i don't have a ****ing waterpack.

I don't like space settings most of the time, it's not immersive for me. But that's just me.

I really really really fear that the whole game will always be jumping from little chunks to little chunks. Talk about the "island" feeling of Mario64 multiplicated many times :(

Finally, the game seems to be designed in order to dodge the Wii Remote issues and strikes me as not really pushing the envellope so far.

I truly fear "Sunshine redux".

yeah, the water pack wasn't what was wrong with mario sunshine.

It doesn't matter if SMG isn't great, Super Paper Mario will more than make up for any shortcomings. :)

You're right, it was the blue coins.

C'mon people. It's not just a Super Mario World. We're getting a whole Super Mario Galaxy!

I'm anticipating the game - it pretty much sold me a Wii - but I ain't getting my hopes up until there's more info and/or a release date. I won't be getting Mario 128ed again.

I'm worried that you can't control the camera manually, from what I've read. Hopefully the camera won't drag the whole game down like it did with Mario 64.

You won't have camera issues in a game where the camera turns around small chunks of planets...

I'll be the first one to have doubts. It might end up being a good game, but great? I'll reserve judgement till I get my hands on it. I believe Sunshine was well received and I wasn't too fond of it.

Difficulty wise the demo was dumbed down for the E3 audience. It's been stated that there'd be many different variations of planets, some very big, some very small. I have no doubts in my mind at all.
They've been working on the gameplay ideas behind this game for a very long time and have only shown a very small facet of what the game can do. I can't wait to finally get my hands on it, I just hope it's sometime this year cos the wait is getting very hard. I wish that Nintendo would finally launch their damn demo service and put out the Mario E3 demo to quench our thirsts.

It's the only Wii game I'm interested in. Very different looking from past Mario games. The level design also looks fantastic.

Well, being more and more skeptical as I get older, of course I'm a little worried that SMG won't live up to the hype. But I'll still buy and enjoy it when it finally comes out.

I'm just dying for some decent Wii news and some new game announcements. I don't want the single-player experiences on Wii to be too-few-and-far-between.

A release date would be nice, but I can tell you with all honesty that the game was ultra-impressive at E3. It made me feel like I was playing Mario for the first time all over again. I left the station grinning while the dude they butted me in front of to give it a try was ready to tear my face off for making him wait even longer to get his chance.

What did people really expect from that? It was clearly a tech demo... I don't think there evem was any gameplay elements beyond moving Mario.
