How do you know the entire game consists of running around small planets?Ranger X said:You won't have camera issues in a game where the camera turns around small chunks of planets...
Ranger X said:What studio is develloping Galaxy? EAD ?
Yeah, the new EAD Tokyo studio I think..Ranger X said:What studio is develloping Galaxy? EAD ?

I believe the team is built up of those from the Tokyo studio who created DK: Jungle Beat and other developers from EAD.Ranger X said:What studio is develloping Galaxy? EAD ?

I'm lookin at you, GDC Miyamoto Conference.

But again, don't worry about the levels being tiny rocks, I have seen stated in several interviews that there will be many different sizes of planets from small to very big.

Yep.jstevenson said:After playing it at E3, no, I have no doubts. It felt like playing Mario 64 for the first time.

Yes, very similar at least. I know the double and triple jumps are in, and since crouch is in there I would imagine the backflip and long jump have made it in as well. Can't say about the side jump, but it's one of his best moves so I'd be surprised if they cut it.Boonoo said:Is there crouching and crawling and the jumps that go along with them (long jump, back flip) like in Mario 64? I haven't heard too much about Mario's repertoire of moves.
How about the spin jump, 360 + jump. I found that to be very useful in Sunshine. I think it was the highest jump Mario could perform and it could be done instantly.AndoCalrissian said:Yes, very similar at least. Man... they need to eff around with gravity strength a ton in this game.
Go watch the videos at IGN, Gametrailers, or Game Informer. Camera was never an issue in the demo (largely due to the perspective used) and partly because it is likely more refined. And the background is not just black.bridegur said:If the person that decided cleaning eel teeth in Sunshine was a good idea is anywhere near SMG, I'm very worried. It can't be worse than Sunshine, can it?

from what i remember it was more 'clicky' camera like M64
Really? I played the demo at E3, but I guess I never really tried to move the camera once I started playing the demo.sammy said:Galaxy did have camera controls --- i guess a lot of folks didn't pick up on the fact them being mapped to the D-pad on the larger planets.

They've been working on the gameplay ideas behind this game for a very long time and have only shown a very small facet of what the game can do. I can't wait to finally get my hands on it, I just hope it's sometime this year cos the wait is getting very hard. I wish that Nintendo would finally launch their damn demo service and put out the Mario E3 demo to quench our thirsts.
Having no camera control in Zelda TP worried me, but I ended up not having any problems with it. I'm sure the same will apply for this game.TheGreatDave said:I hope Mario Galaxy is delayed until 2008. Seriously, only good things come from Nintendo delays lately. Take as much time with it as you like, Nintendo.
I loved Mario Sunshine's camera, because I've always been the kind of person that is constantly moving the camera stick and just always going forward with the character's stick. It gives you total freedom to do just that. Galaxy not having a camera control kinda worries me, but if the game is built with it's absense in mind I'm sure it won't be a problem.
I don't remember that. You mean with FLUDD?DIrtyWeasel said:How about the spin jump, 360 + jump. I found that to be very useful in Sunshine. I think it was the highest jump Mario could perform.
dyls said:I really thought that by now people would be able to see that Sunshine was a pretty fantastic platformer. I understood the initial backlash and recognize the problems (lack of levels, sometimes faulty camera) but assumed that eventually people would be able to look at the game fairly, having long-since forgotten their crazy high expectations and the hate bandwagon that inevitably forms when a big-name game fails to live up to the hype. I guess I'll just have to wait a bit longer. Maybe when it's released as a VC game for Wii2 people will see the light.
In the end, SMS was easily the best platformer of last-gen, with all kinds of excellent, clever elements and boatloads of charm. Moving Mario around the environments was still a total joy, and the difiiculty and breadth of the levels allowed for some incredibly satisfying moments. Did it have problems? Sure, ostly stemming, in my opinion, from Nintendo's desire to bring the game out in a timely fashion rather than polish it to the normal Mario-level gleam. So for all those hoping to bother have Galaxy game come out this year, and also be the best Mario game ever, you should probably give up on one of those expectations.

I remember I was talking to some guy at Gamestop about Zelda TP a few months before release. He said he had played the game on Wii and you could move the camera by holding down a button and then moving the analog stick... ****ing liar... :lol
That's true. Galaxy was built without an analog stick for camera from the start. Twilight Princess was only developed as a Wii game for about a year or less.Polari said:I actually found the lack of camera control in Twilight Princess occasionally frustrating, but I think its absence overall made the game much more accessible and fluid. I'm pretty sure Galaxy will be OK seeing as they've designed the whole game with an absence of camera control in mind, rather than tacked it on (tacked it off?) at the last minute like with Twilight Princess.

This one gets me everytime. I feel like I'm ruining potentially one of the coolest moments of the game by looking at it, but damned if I care.
