While I'm interested in seeing the remake I'm 99% sure the story behind the film is a total hoax. Especially when one of the people involved came out and said it was one.

Out of all the far fetched legends I'm more inclined to believe in the Mothman.

The movie has some really good mood, but if you actually read the book "The Mothman Prophecies" (which, incidently the movie is NOTHING like) there are some even creepier scenarios in it that kept me from getting to bed a few nights after having been reading it.

Nah. Not since I read up on Chainsaw Massacre. My one friend believed that the grainy black and white video was real footage! I went to prove him wrong (turns out common fucking sense wasn't quite enough), and I discover not only is the movie 'loosely' based on a true story, there was no chainsaw killer at all. It was 'based' on the same killer Psycho was based on, but at least they didn't have the nerve to say it was a true story because of it.

Well, people were actually murdered. That is true. Whether or not that was due to satan or an evil house is up to you. I just think it was a fucked up kid who murdered his family, even though it is surrounded by some seriously eerie circumstances.

All the shit afterwards involving poltergeists and whatnot is pure bullshit, though.
