So that was not fun. Spent a good 3 hours almost perpetually vomiting and shitting. At one point I was doing both simultaneously which I didn't even know was possible. Then spent another 36 hours in a very weak state with no appetite, and persistent runs. Feeling better today, made it to the office, but still not eating a lot. Sipping on Pedialyte.

I suspect that it was the coleslaw I ordered with a brisket sandwich.

Ofc. No vomiting tho but I had severe diarrhea for 3 days. Was going to the bathroom every hour or so. Luckily I was at home when it hit me.

Glad you're feeling better. I've had it a few times myself - once so bad I was delirious and my wife had to take me to the ER.
Take care!!!!

Glad you're feeling better OP.

I'm a big fan of BBQ but never get the coleslaw side, it's not my jam. (Or collard greens for that matter; yeah, collard greens are gross)

To your question though: yeah I got sick once as a teenager. Vomiting consistently the first day, on and off the second day. Wasn't the best experience but thankfully I recovered quickly, and most importantly I tried to stay hydrated.

I suspect it was from a pig-ear taco I had from a street taco stand when I was in high school. I'm conflicted; getting sick fucking sucked, but that was also the best taco I've ever had, even to this day... 😂

Yep. Once you have you know everybody who says they have 'a bit of food poisoning' is talking out of their arse.

You either had it or you didn't, and if you did, you would umambiguously know about it.

Yep got it once real bad. 15 years later and I still can't contemplate eating cool whip. Even just the texture when you scoop it out makes me feel nauseous.

Its fucking miserable. Had it twice. Constantly dry heaving and shitting. Cramps from dehydration because I couldn't hold liquids. Its literally a nightmare. The last time I had it, I lived with my brother. We were in our 20s. He was literally afraid for my life. He stated 'that would have killed alot of people."

Had it just 2 weeks ago. Same symptoms as you OP. I never ever want to experience this ever again. At some point iwas just throwing up my stomach itself because there was nothing left in it and i was pissing out of my ass.

Absolutely awful

I had it really bad about 12 years ago and felt like I was going to fucking die. Started with a stomach ache that advanced into vomiting and shitting simueltaneously. Then blacked out for a few days. Vaguely remember getting up to try to eat and drink fluids. Water and food would go through me almost instantly. On top of that, my body was aching everywhere. I think I would rather break a bone than go through that again.

The first bout I had with food poisoning was the harshest thing that has ever happened to me, physically speaking. Definitely worse than the time I got 22 stiches.

I pretty much laid on the bathroom floor for around 24 hours, in a fever-dream, peppered with lots and lots of dry-heaving. The only thing that ever came up was some white goop.
I got it a second time and it wasn't quite as bad, but still rather torturous. I chose the bathroom as my bunker, once again, but I was at my parent's house. My dad walked in the bathroom and said "woah!" when he saw me lying there. Pretty sure he thought I was dead for a second. Food poisoning sucks really bad.

It really brought the meaning of "poison" to life, for me. I thought "Oh, so this is what it feels like to be poisoned." Completely physically drained, in a mental daze, and your body trying to repel something that isn't there. It's like your body is under attack.

Yes, I got it once. Think it was from some badly prepared meat or cabbage, I got some serious stomach pains and puked so much I thought I was gonna die. Was very ill for a couple of days, weak and exhausted, nearly to the point of seeking medical treatment.

All these years later I still chuckle at what a fucking moron that guy is.

Couple times. Fucking awful. Can't even keep water down, spewing from both ends. No energy. 3 solid days of hell until I felt even slightly better.

My wife got it a few years back, she spent a good 12 hours doing her best impression of the world's most fucked up rotary sprinkler.

Never actually, but I still shit the bed in hospital at some point, so outcomes are probably similar.

Glad it wasn't just me being a pussy then. Really fucked a lot of you guys up too real bad. I think we could give kidney stones gaf a run for their money on the pain scale.

On the bright side it seems really condensed. 2 to 3 days seems to be the consensus. I had a cough that lasted 3 months one time, and I would take another round of food poisoning over another 3-month cough if I had to choose.

Got it BAD in Morocco just minutes after arriving at my hotel in Marrakesh. Spent the next 3 days thinking I was going to die. My wife had to call a doctor to come check on me but by the time they arrived I had started to feel slightly better.

We had spent a few days at a "luxury tent" thing in the Sahara desert before that and I suspect I got it from the water or food they served us there.

Had it several times.

The first time I had it, I didn't eat anything for 5 days, hallaucinated because my fever was so high and then nearly feinted. Likely Norovirus which I caught from someone else.

Second time it was essentially non stop pooping. No vomiting. Likely from Burger King in a hospital. Lasted about 4-5 days.

Third time it was from reduced price shrimp that I froze, thawed out, cooked, then reheated and ate it the next day. Vomited once, crapped all day and felt better the next day.

Fourth time it was likely norovirus caught from another rather than from digested food. I vomited once or twice, crapped a lot and the stomach cramps were the worst. I felt better after about a day.

Fifth and most recent was a few months ago. Me and a friend ate an entire seafood platter. We both came down with it 2 days later. His symptoms lasted 3 days, whilst mine about 1 day possibly because I was supplmeneting a lot of vitamin c, zinc, D and so my body killed it off more quickly. I actually didn't vomit once, even though it felt like I was going to all day.

I had salmonella as a kid and ended up in the hospital for a while.
I remember my mum saying I was like shitting Jello or something.
Only time I ever been hospitalised.

Oyster here as well.... it was summer, so I don't eat raw Oysters or shell fish during warm weather/season these days.
My reaction was rashes, almost like allergic reaction (but I don't have allergy)... hmm.

Happened to me in Cancun years ago. Worst feeling in my life. 3 days by the toilet. Aging myself, but had a new issue of GameFan magazine to keep me company. 🤣

No, but I did enjoy the same bugs involved. Went swimming outside a really nice beach on Gran Canaria, all of a sudden I saw a turd float by. I had been diving and gotten water in my mouth a few times and had to blow out the snorkel.

Got Salmonella, dysenteri, and another bug, at the same time. Spent 7 days on the bathroom floor in the hotel, puking and shitting myself.

After that I learned that none of the Canarie islands have sewage treatment, everything is flushed out into the ocean. So all those nice beaches, with that wierd foam at the shoreline? Yeah, that is poop water you are swimming in.

Boycott the Canaries, until they get their shit out of the water. Or, until they get their poop right.

Seriously thought I would die, managed to develop hemmoroids, one burst, got a fistula (do not google), and needed surgery, took 2 years to recover.

Fuck countries that think that the ocean is just a big toilet.

China. By boss lived in an apartment that was right on the seafront wall. I could look down and see all the wastewater from this big apartment complex being dumped right out into the sea. I could actually see sanitary towels and used condoms floating up to the top. Right over that outlet pipe, literally directly over the top every weekend there would be people fishing right at that spot. They could not even see the outlet pipe from the top of the sea wall.

Years ago my flight instructor described how he was food poisoned from a Subway roll.

He told us that he woke up in the middle of the night to find out he was covered in shit. When he found out he had been marinating in his own excrement, he also added vomit to the mix as well. He then described how he had to figure out how to get to the bathroom without fucking up his carpeting.

I’ve never eaten from Subway since then.

Many “Whelps”! Handle It!
My last trip to the Caribbean. They warned us all to only eat at certain restaurants or to only eat meals produced on the ship, but the street food on whatever island of the Bahamas we were on smelled so good. We went right back to the ship, and by the time we were in our cabin it hit me hard. That night I barely slept and took probably five huge dumps in that tiny ship restroom (and it smelled awful - the then fiance was a champ for sticking through it). I got some kind of beefy, juicy taco-like thing, while she opted for fresh seafood they cooked on a grill right off the beach. If I had only joined her and gotten the fresh seafood as well. My guess is that beef they were using was spoiled and they masked it with a massive amount of seasoning and marinade.

Probably, though it was just one bout of vomiting each time.

I went to the same restaurant in Nepal and had the same dish. Only, about 20 years apart. The dish was fun (fried chicken shaped into a chicken) and I wanted the nostalgia and to see if the place had changed. Well, I got my nostalgia fully and evidently nothing about the place had changed as there I was by the side of the same road (now paved) puking my guts up.

Oh, and it wasn't as fun as I remembered as a child. Familial circumstances having changed and the development of the area having made the place ugly. Well, and becoming an adult.

If I ever have children through, I think I might take them there. As a lesson.

I've gotten it a couple of times, and one of them was/is one of the worst experiences I could imagine.

My family ordered pizza one night about 12 years ago. The delivery guy was really creepy. (I mention that because of what was about to happen.) He had this really sinister smile on his face in our brief interaction. I gave it little thought because of the brevity of the contact and because I was so hungry. Anyway, we sat down to eat, and I ate about half a pizza in a couple of minutes - just wolfed it down. My ex-wife didn't eat any of the pizza I ate, and my kid (very little at the time - only about 6) only ate a tiny bit. My child vomited almost immediately. I didn't think much of it because little kids are always spewing out something. :p Anyway, not long after I started feeling really sick, I mean *really* sick. I have this fear of vomiting, almost a phobia, so I held it in at first. I think that turned out to be a big mistake. Soon I felt as if i was being stabbed in my abdomen and I couldn't release this pain, either via vomiting or the other exit. Everything felt stuck. I ended up on the floor in the fetal position after trying to get this out of my body all night long, and I was just sobbing in pain. I've never been so sick. Finally after laying by the toilet the entire night, I was finally able to vomit.

However, I've had *horrible* digestive and health problems ever since. I've never been the same. I think it absolutely wrecked my microbiome, and I've been trying to restore things for this past dozen years to no avail. I've been to numerous doctors, having run all manner of tests, and have received no clear diagnosis or help. It's forced me to eliminate almost every type of food until finally I got to the point where I cut out all carbohydrates because I think I've just got an incredibly stubborn case of some kind of SIBO. It has helped, but I'm still not right. Anyway, watch out for creepy delivery drivers. I wouldn't wish what I've been through on anyone.

Norovirus is some heinous shit. I was also stupid enough to drink while on Anabuse when I was trying to get sober. It was comparable to Noro, but not as bad.

Yeah in China from shelfish exclusively though. It’s weird because I’ve traveled internationally and have never had a problem anywhere else or on non seafood dishes in China but I’d routinely get explosive diarrhea and an IV drip any time I tried so much as a shrimp.
