Hey papitos. Personal story time

I have eye floaters, they started appearing a couple years ago. First it was just a couple of them but, now I have like 5 or 6 and they are making my life a bit miserable

I did a check up of the back of my eye a few months ago and they told me that my eyes are healthy but this condition is a pain in the ass and of course I am kinda worried that I get more and more and they ruin my eyesight

Anyway I wanted to know if you have them too, hear your experience and how you handle them

I have them all my life. I was annoyed by them when I was a kid but stopped giving a fuck around 12yo.

Otherwise my eyesight is near perfect (small astigmatism on the left eye), their numbers didn't increase with time in my case.

It's also common as fuck, google Ai:

While precise global numbers are unavailable, studies suggest a high prevalence, with figures ranging from approximately 70% to 76% of people experiencing eye floaters at some point in their lives.

Oh damn, like you permanently see them? I feel for you cause that sounds horrible

I see them when I am outside with direct natural light. Inside buildings or areas I cant barely see them. Its difficult

And this is what I see when I am outside unless I use sunglasses but I dont have as many as in this picture

It's happened to me a couple times in my life, and even saw a few floaters yesterday. Nothing permanent and only lasts a few minutes or so, once in a blue moon, or if I'm sleep deprived. I can see how it'd be annoying.

Yeah, it can be only seen looking at sky, white walls etc.

Most people saying that they don't have eye floaters probably just don't notice them or have bad eyesight so they CAN'T notice them.

I have them too, I think I first noticed them in my early 20s.

I don't care about them anymore. Sometimes they are pretty obvious when staring at a white wall or the sky, then I go oh yeah I still have these, and then I go back to ignoring them.

It was pretty scary at first ngl, but after accepting them it's a complete non-issue.

Floaters are very common... and not really curable (unless they are so gigantic they block your view, then you can try surgery). You have to start ignoring them and that's it.

My eyes are riddled with them, i started to get them when i was 25 or something bothered the shit out of me, but now i got used towards them and they don't bother me that much. also i got way more of them now i am getting older.

I've always had them so I'm used to them at this point. I remember feeling relieved when I first read about them because I always did a shit job trying to explain them after realising not everyone has them. They've never been that big of a deal for me since they're transparent and I just see their outlines.

So you basically got used to them and you barely notice them unless you think about them?

Thanks for sharing by the way 💪

I've had them for over 10 years. The eye doctor never found anything. You learn to live with them, even if it can be very annoying. I'm still on Eyefloater Reddit, and there seemed to be something new that helps. I'll have to see if I can find it.

At the moment there is nothing that can cure them other than invasive surgery and that has high risks unfortunately

That's my experience too had them for about 20 years now a lot of the time I don't notice them your brain eventually kind of ignores them

Thanks for sharing. You know, to be honest I could get to used to them if they dont get worse, at the moment my floaters are not very alarming and yes sometimes they depressed me a bit but I can handle them. But my fear is that I get more and more and my eyesight would worsen to the point of being disruptive or worse.

No problem, I tried all sorts of eye washes etc at the time but nothing ever cleared it so I just lived with it and eventually it becomes less noticeable or even unnoticeable to your brain

I can only speak about myself but in 20 years they haven't got worse or more noticeable and my eye sight hasn't been affected

Had them all my life, they are like a Chinese character but thankfully mostly transparent and you end up filtering them out unless you focus on them after moving your eyes.
They never changed or got worse.
I saw a video about a guy who thought he could see chromosomes because he had floaters. Made a whole theory about it.

I have floaters now that I am getting older. They are annoying but can't do much about it. I also have visual snow, that one I have had my whole life so it is normal for me. I didn't know it was a thing until about 10 years ago. My wife is convinced I had a prenatal stroke, but 🤷‍♂️. It can't be fixed so it is fine.

Fantastic representation! As a kid I thought I could see the cells in my eyes after looking through a microscope and seeing similar objects in science class one day.

I was/am still really stupid.

Also I use a bunch of eye drops sometimes helps sometimes doesn't!

Looks very similar to what I had/have.
I awoke one morning and saw what I thought was wisps of smoke.
Turned out it was these swirling floater type things.
My optician told me (iirc) it was something to do with cells behind the eyes?
It wasn't affecting my sight and nor would it.
Learned to live with it, it did (slightly) improve over the years.
I've had two cataract ops since then, (unrelated) they're pretty full on.

I could be compeltely wrong here, but I heard, or read somewhere that a particular type of mushroom / mushroom extract supplement you can get that has a unique compound in it that breaks these down (and other excess proteins / collagen in the body).

My memory is like a sieve, so you may want to look into it.

I'm 50. I've had floaters since my early twenties. I saw an eye doctor back then and he told me it was nothing to worry about. These are small pieces of skin that detach from the inner structure of your eyes and float in the liquid in your eye (what the doctor told me). He also told me that at some point they stop floating and end up at the bottom of your eyes so it was nothing to worry about.

Personally, 30 or so years later, they're pretty much the same. It never really got worse and I learned to live with them so I no longer even see them anymore.

At least you don't have Visual Snow

I think I have this shit, started to notice it in my 20s.

The best thing is that I knew about eye floaters since ~8yo but learned that this is actual medical condition and other people have them like ~10 years ago, hahaha.

I have one in the center left bottom in my right eye for 6 months now. It's very annoying when I'm in bright places or moving a lot.
I read that, for extreme cases, there is a procedure to remove the liquid in the eye with a syringe (and the floaters with it) and over time the liquid refills (but you are blind in that eye until this happens).

I have an insane number of them that are only apparent if I stare up at a bright blue sky. Otherwise it's like seeing your nose. Your brain filters it out.

Like others here I got used to them and don't even notice them unless I go out of my way to try to see them.
Using dark mode on all apps and websites helps to forget about them as well.
