Anyone here look and feel younger than their age?

The Lunch Legend

GAF's Nicest Lunch Thief and Nosiest Dildo Archeologist
Mostly been just a case of 'fortunate genes', but everyone in my family has always tended towards longevity and has especially looked and seemed much younger than they really are. Obviously it's not something to 'complain' about, but it does have an effect.

In my own case, now being 26, but I look and feel like I'm around 25 and a half.

But regardless of age, anyone had any similar experience with this 'issue', and how do they feel about it?

I'm a tall guy. Tall even by Dutch standards. I'm sure that influenced why I never been asked to show ID to prove my age or anything like that

These days, people actually think I'm younger than I am

Funny thing is, I don't really feel older or younger than I did 15 years ago. I feel pretty much the same? Like time passed, but somehow skipped over me. Sure, I've picked up a bit more experience and maybe some new habits, but at my core, I'm still that same person

I'm almost 40 and some people still takes me for late 20's.

Sadly it doesn't include my doctors when they see some of my exams...

I'm 41 now and I have to say this past 7 years haven't been kind to me, I used to look young and have very little grey hair.

Fast forward 7 years and I'm aching all over, Arthritis and greys coming out a bunch and my beard... wow I look like Gandalf.

Don't stop exercising/training and don't Yo-Yo diet it ages you like mad.

I'll be 39 in June and a 19 year old I was talking to the other week seemed genuinely surprised and told me she thought I was in my late 20s.

Usually it's only older people who rate me younger so that was quite a surprise. Aside from the sports I do I attribute this mainly to me being calm and stress free most of the time. I swear to god, stress is killing y'all.

36 here and all the time people tell me I look and seem like I'm in my mid 20s. I think people are aging differently in general. 40s really are the new 30s IMO and the 50 year olds of today probably seem younger than 50 year old of the past.

Yep stress is the #1 culprit no doubt, Then smoking, alcohol and eatting junk food too much is up there but stress is the killer.

I'm 49 and I'm often told I look mid 30s. I drink occasionally, smoke a bit of weed, and have a generally crap diet but I don't get stressed, ever. I used to in my teens and one day had a falling out with my stepdad and ended up breaking my favourite record. I sat on my bed and thought 'you know, the only person that's suffered from this is me' and that was pretty much the last time I stressed about anything. My rule now is to ask myself if the stressful situation is fixable, can I do something to remedy it, either myself or by asking for help? If yes, then fix it and no need to worry, if no then worrying won't help, and if you don't know then worrying about the unknown isn't going to help it become known and is more likely to hinder your search for a fix.

I used to, up to my mid-30s. Then a mixture of moderate hair loss, life issues, and high stress at work broke the spell. I guess I look my age now.

There tends to be a disconnect from how old you feel as apposed to how old you look, but for me not so much.

I'm turning 32 and can see some crows feet and possibly even some white hair. I don't worry about aging or getting older though. I know how to take care of myself so it's alright with me.

I started going grey in my teens so I've always looked older than I am, which was great before I turned 21 because I never got carded.

I'm in my late 40s now and I think I probably look about average for people my age, although I'm certainly in better shape than most people in their 40s.

As for how I feel, I've always felt younger than I am. I feel like I'm in my early 20s, not late 40s. I'm constantly surprised and disgusted by people my age who use their age as an excuse not to do something. It just seems like those people have given up and it's disgusting.

47 and most people act surprised when they find out my age. I lift weights and do martial arts constantly dont smoke, drink rarely and eat well. Wife and I both look young. Never stop exercising

Call me crazy but by now I convinced that the effects of alcohol and smoking are vastly over and stress underrated. There's this guy I went to school with who looks like a bloody teen still - dude's been smoking ever since I know him. But he's the chillest dude ever.

Eat, drink and smoke whatever you want (don't overdo it of course) but KEEP THAT STRESS LEVEL DOWN. Best way to a healthy life. You read it here first. Forget all that advice online. I heard it all and it's all nonsense.

Won't smoking start to make you look like a leather bag?

I'm late 30s but look early to mid-30s. Avoiding excessive sun exposure due to nerdy indoor hobbies helps. I have no wrinkles or visible pores on my face whatsoever.

I would probably look even younger if I stayed clean shaven (I maintain a trimmed beard that's starting to grey in the goatee area) and had my hairline from 10+ years ago. I don't have any bald spots but my hairline is higher than it used to be and that's always a subtle tell of someone's age.

Physically though, I feel really good. Not significantly different than when I was a teenager. I go to the gym for 45 minutes to an hour every single day. Jog 1.5 miles and lift weights. I do need to work on flexibility, though. My left hip is tight and will occasionally get "stuck" when I bend over to pick something up, causing me to wince in pain and then limp for a few minutes afterward. That's when I'm reminded that I'm almost 40.

I'm 40 but apparently don't look like it. I'm sure as hell don't feel like it. Even though I want to be a real grown up one day. Must be nice.

I used to often have people think Onwas older than I was as a child, and especially as a teenager (apart from when I tried to buy alcohol, but we have a 'Think 25' policy here).

In my mid-20s, it suddenly switched to people thinking I'm younger than I am.

Mentally, I'm mostly stuck at around 20.

I feel younger than my age but not because people think I'm younger, which they do, especially foreigners. It's because I feel like I lost a lot of my 20's due to being super crazy during that time. I haven't felt "alive" until I started normalizing around 30 when me and my wife started dating. I also had a ton of physical health problems that I've taken care of. Guys, if you're tired all the time, your sugar is probably too high or your testosterone is too low. That being said, I talk to a lot of people in their 20's on Discord and I'm like "Yeah, I'm 35 or older here."

I'm 38. A few weeks ago, I bought some cough medicine and the cashier asked for my ID. I did a light laugh, asked her if she had to do this for everyone regardless, and she said, "no, I genuinely can't tell if you're 18 or older." Her eyes widened when she read my birth year.

I mean, I know having no facial hair makes you look younger, but holy shit.

Yup, exercising, eating well, sleeping well… And having good genetics!

Smoking alone? No. Usually there is much more going on with people but that is conveniently left out to better illustrate the effects of smoking.

I mean, think about it. Smoking has been on a downward trend for many decades now. Do you see people being healthier today than say in the 80s or 90s?

My parents both look young for their age. They're 60 and 59 respectively but don't look it.

I'm 35 and I look like I'm in my mid 20s.

You might feel like you're 25 in your head. At least till you meet someone who's 25. Then you're like "Nope, I'm X age."
Yes, almost everyone in here are fooling themselves. It's normal to feel younger in your head.

I just turned 40, and when I hang around people my age, they feel old. When I am around 30 year olds, they feel young.

I never cared about crossing the 30 line, but 40 is rough.

Being almost 34 and not fat nor bald, most people usually think I'm a few years younger, which is cool.

My back is killing me tho. :goog_relieved:

When I was in my 30's I was still being pulled up for ID.
I hope you are feeling better. It's not fun when cops think you are a health hazard.

Edit: Sorry, I think I misunderstood what ID meant as I'm not a native English speaker. I didn't know it could also mean this:

Same. I got carded on my 40th birthday. It wasn't awkward until the waitress apologized profusely,

I have always been lucky with health and looking a bit younger than I am. My hair is turning grey and starting to thin so I expect the looks part will catch up to me in a few years but I am okay with that. It beats the eternal nap in a pine box.

I lived a harsh rock 'n roll life for too long of a time. Then I fixed myself and started to lose weight and gain muscle and overall fitness.

That changed my life. I am 39, but my body looks mid 20's and I feel younger than I can even remember.

My ever developing grey hair gives me away. However, some people mistake me for being in my early 30s when I'm actually 40 this year.

Yeah, but even those are subject to epigenetics. And your attitude can really influence your aging.

My father has 2 older brothers. They both did drugs in their youth, and the oldest one was also a drinker and a heavy smoker for many years. Both of them lived unsafely and stressfully, both always had a problem with their temper. Both of them still have a full head of hair; one is 69 and barely has a grey hair on his head, the oldest basically started graying around 65. Both always slept like babies.

My father, though? He started exercising in his teens, always ate mostly clean, barely ever drank alcohol or ate red meat before his mid-50s, trained his body all his life. What he got for this was, he developed a nasty form of IBD, he started losing his hair in his 40s, he had his hip replaced in his mid-50s, and he's had trouble sleeping for years.

My father's family, to me, is living proof that we still really haven't cracked the code.

Yeah man. I hear you. Sometimes, it's just the luck of the draw it seems.
