Just got back and have played through the first three levels, and it is the best Batman game ever. Basically it's Splinter Cell light, but with Batman. Lots of context sensitive points, but there are moments where Batman can grapple up to the cieling and grab someone with his line and interrogate them with Bale doing the awesome Batman voice.

Warning about the Cube version. While the game is smooth, looks great, and is DPLII; the videos from the movie are super compressed and the audio is super tinny mono.

Best Batman game ever and Best Batman Boxart ever!

"crapple up to the ceiling" :lol

Do you have a feel for how long the game is? I've heard of retailers trying to move it for $30 in sales this week so I'm curious if it's worth picking up. Any major site reviews yet?

Wouldn't be surprised if reviews are embargoed until later tonight to coincide with the movie's release. As far as playing the game itself...I just finished Chaos Theory and am in no hurry to play a watered-down license clone. Maybe I'll rent it in a few weeks.

I got it for xbox, but havent opened it yet.Waiting to see the movie before I play, plus I heard they included film clips like the Star Wars E3 game has.

Cool menu screen....I got that poster on my wall.

I just played the Xbox version for about 45min.

1) See the movie 1st, there are a fair amount of movie footage in the game.

2) Splinter Cell this not.

Batman Begins (so far) is a simple action game that has context sensitive stealth moments. It is not like Splinter Cell choose your own way. There are parts where you have to use stealth and parts where it does not matter.

Graphics are nice, better than most EA stuff (better than the LotR games). So far I like it, good action game and a nice tie in with the movie.

I was this close to buying this game for the Gamecube today. Two things kept me from it though:

1.) The lack of reviews.

2.) The fact that EA regularly botches the Gamecube version of their games.

From IGN

There are certain limitations to the preview demo sent to us. We're unable to show readers any scenes featuring the Scarecrow. Meanwhile, some of the levels cut-off halfway through and, of course, most of the story sequences -- snippets from the movie included -- have been omitted.

I just got an IM from one of the guys who works on our site (gamedaily.com) that we have like the internet exclusive review of the game or something. Anyway, it's up here for the interested parties:

OMG BATMAN BEGINS REVIEW - 4/5

Just like the movie before it, Batman Begins takes the Batman license in directions that should be satisfactory to both the Batman fan base and to those seeking an enjoyable gameplay experience. The mixture of stealth elements and fast-paced racing action keep things moving along nicely, even if some stuff gets in the way. It's so good that I've nearly forgotten last year's Catwoman!

they did the same thing to Spiderman 2. review embargoes till the movie's release or whatever. i still think it's silly

It got "Game of the Month" in FHM with five stars :lol

FHM Review Criteria:

Is the game cover "cool"? Y
Can we assume that nothing in this title can be interpreted as "uncool"? Y
Can you masturbate to any part of the game? Katie Holmes. So Y.

If you answered yes to all of these questions, please award it five stars.

Is this really worth a purchase, or a rental? I'd like to reward EA for making a half decent game for once, but on the other hand it this is just average I think I'll keep my money.

It would be cool if this was good. I felt kinda bad for the dev at E3; I was watching the E3 stream from Gamespot. They interviewed the Batman Begins guy, and he was only on for a few minutes. He got asked a couple of lame questions, and it was obvious he was really proud of the game and wanted to say all of the cool things it could do, but they cut him off and were "well we are out of time, thanks for dropping by."... then proceeded to go into 137 consecutive minutes of the other clown interviewing the Burnout Revenge guy, with such gems as:

"Can you believe some people actually RACED in the last game instead of just doing takedowns?"

and

"Instead of doing takedowns, some people actually RACED in the last game, can you believe it?"

Over and over again.

Speaking of Takedowns, the Batmobile levels are basically Burnout 3 :)

What a sad review,wtf.

Whether or not the game is good or bad, since when did they start doing reviews like that? :\

According to Ivan on the boards, the Cube review is being written by Matt so hopefully it'll actually be a review.

I want it as well but is it worth it?

That IGN review is stupid. Not saying the score is off base, because I haven't played it yet, but what a sorry excuse for a professional review.

Wow, lets play spot the bad grammar!

You are required to think precisely never

Is it just me or are the textures on his tuxedo psone level? The face is pretty good, but any realism is totaly lost with that blocky, pixelated mess of a suit....

Just finished the construction site level and the entire thing was designed like a playground around Batman's abilities :)

so ya think it's a buy or a renter?

i know i am for sure buying the movie when it comes out! fucking ROCKED!!

For me, this game is sorta like X-men Legends is for X-fans....if you're a Bat fan, its a buy me game.

Its solid, prettier than any EA game for the xbox, unoriginal but fun. Well worth the $ so far.

:lol :lol :lol Shows you the mentality of the average Burnout fan...

I'll probably get this game eventually (unless it's a total shit pile), but I'm not in a hurry to do so.

Scripted fear events, lazy fighting, context sensitive only gadgets, totally over-lit (isn't Batman all about the shadows), clumsy storytelling that butchers film clips into incoherence, those AWFUL batmobile sections that completely rip-off Burnout and NFSU. Yeah, I see what you mean, krypt!

Uh EA owns Criterion and Criterion apparently worked with Eurocom on the race levels because the intention was to make them like Burnout 3.

Yeah, that was clear.
I forget that Batman is obsessed with enemy 'takedowns' and causing millions of dollars worth of damage, etc.

sometimes people miss the point of games.

If you liked the new movie the game is a fun extension of it. If you are looking for a complex Batman simulation you better skip this one.

Well I haven't played the game, but that certainly sounds similar to the Batmobile sections in the flick.

Forget all that... it's EA.. better to just hate on it and be done with it.

Mr Mike, just shut it and leave the trolling to the professionals....

I bought the game last night and frankly....

I'm impressed.

The graphics are really nice and atmospheric, the fighting seems pretty solid and coupled with a slightly dumbed down stealth engine it a FUN game. And isn't that the point?

Much like the LOTR games, Batman Begins oozes wth production value and offers a nice extension to the movie.

I'm not too far in that it will spoil the movie, but I likey.

One thing I noticed though, guns are bad... REALLY bad. If your stealth isn't up to snuff, you are DEAD. Someone empties a clip into your rubber coated torso and you are pushing up bat-daisies

He looks like Claymation. :lol

I can't believe some of you people are buying a movie game before any reviews hit. You are all braver than I.
