Anyone pick up KUF: Heroes?

Isn't this bascially the last game MS is publishing for the Xbox that we know of? I enjoyed KUF so I think this has potential. Looking forward to impressions.

I've only gotten to play it for an hour or so, my impressions really aren't worth much yet. Still, I like what I've seen. Gameplay seems very much the same with some small improvements in handling a few issues. There are two beginning characters (including a bad ass woman who I am using) and about 4 more you can unlock for greater difficulty. They seem to have put in the online modes that they cut last time, but I wanted to get back in the swing of things before I tried them.

Still no reviews for this game?

Yup. MS didn't publish it.

It's really more of the same, with some slight control polish. You now get to play a bunch of new campaigns from the time period before the original campaign as the lesser generals from the original (Ellen, Reinhart, Cirith, Morene, et al). It's also a bit harder, so if you haven't cut your teeth on the original KuF, yer gonna get brutalized quick, even on the easy campaigns.

Who did publish it? I assume we're talking about KUF: Heroes

I was set to buy the game right away, but held back after the GamesTM review. They gave it a 6/10.

The article complains of problems with the combat, AI and levelling up among other things. They sum the review up with this:

And that's Heroes' biggest problem: for every little step of improvement Phantagram has taken, it takes a giant leap back. Newcomers will wonder why there was so much fuss about the first game, while fans of the original will no doubt gnash their teeth with frustration at the developer's bizarre design choices. Heroes is still a competent title, but it falls way short of the magic that made The Crusaders such a joy to play.

Doesn't sound too good. I'd still like to read some other reviews and check out the game for myself.

Phantagram didn't actually make the game, right?

No real places have reviewed it yet, but that gamestm score isn't in line with the rest of the reviews.

Games Xtreme 9/21/2005 8.9 out of 10 89.0%
Games Radar UK 9/7/2005 8 out of 10 80.0%
Play Magazine 10/1/2005 9 out of 10 90.0%

I don't have it yet, so I dunno how good it is. As long as there are no major technical problems, and no stealth missions, I'm sure I'll enjoy it as least as much as the first.

I predict 8.4-8.5 gamespot, 8.3 ign

Hmm, I just got my latest Game Informer, and it seems to be in line with GamesTM. It got a 7.5 / 7

Even with a handful of new characters and units, the strategic elements play an even smaller role this time around, taking KUF one step closer to generic button smasher. Apart from the expanded online features (which is still the main reason to pick this up), Heroes does as little work as possible to barely distinguish itself from last year's entry.

Yes. Phantagram was the developer.

Some company called Blue Line is on the packaging as well.

There's just a lot of new games out right now, so I haven't been able to dive in. I don't normally do this, but I partly supported it out the door because of how good but unrecognized the first was. I hope it doesn't dissapoint.
