AP: NFL finds it probable that Patriots deliberately deflated balls

That is a dumb fucking mentality. Pretty much tells you to cheat and just make sure you destroy the other team if you're going to get caught.

cheat 2 win

You said Rose didn't affect the game. But when I asked how a similar situation earlier in the season affected that game you talked about the off field stuff instead. If you care about how if affects the game, why don't you care about that Panthers game?

I keep bringing up that earlier infraction because I believe this is only a story because it's New England. It would be ignored for anyone else.

If you disagree explain why you weren't up in arms when this happened in November. And remember, no one on Minnesota or Carolina were grilled by the media. No one cared when that incident happened.

Tom Brady is a famous athlete who broke the rules, denied it, and was found to be a liar. Pete Rose was a famous athlete who broke the rules, denied it, and was found to be a liar. Brady and Rose are similar in that regard. Tom Brady's rule breaking took place on the field where as Rose's did not.

Are you really confused as to why this is a bigger story? The Patriots have been found guilty of organizational cheating before. It happened in an NFL playoff game. A superstar quarterback was found to be the driving force behind a concerted effort to cheat. I have no control over the general public's outrage or Roger Goodell's oafish handling of punishments. If the Vikings or Panthers cheated they should have been punished. This is obviously a bigger story in the media because of the Patriot's history and Brady's involvement.

Oh no! The Browns, Falcons, Vikings and Panthers cheated and proceeded to not win a title. I'm so upset that the cheating didn't work out for them!

This is what Patriots fans expect?

Spygate was a big story without the past of "institutionalized cheating".

This story is big because it's

1) Tom Brady
2) The 4 time Superbowl winning Patriots
3) Feeds the insane hysteria that Spygate was some insane cheating scandal and this is some continuation of it

Everybody is just out to get the Patriots.

So crazy how after that first Pats Super Bowl I was so consumed with everyone being excited for us as underdogs to win it all. Now I can't get enough of this hate. It's glorious!
Was out with a few friends tonight who felt the same. Gave them a link to this thread for some good whack material.

Considering what happened in the AFC game can be basically described as a sting operation, I don't think that statement is far from the truth in some camps.

Surprised bountygate got any coverage at all. Didn't involve Tom Brady or the Patriots, and only resulted in 1 superbowl. Why even bother at that point.

I'm talking about this.

The Colts talked to the league before the game, the league knew and caught the Pats with their pants down.

After the insane clowning the Colts were constantly going through game after game, I think it's fair to say they were more than pleased to see the Pats go down.

Now remember, this isn't blaming the league for acting on it, I'm simply stating their are parties in the league that are more than happy seeing the Patriots go down for one reason or another.

You're the worst kind of people. Not because of the obnoxious "They hate us because they're jealous." bullshit that seems to affect Pats fans more than any other team, but because you're also fine with just looking the other way and trying to justify when your team routinely bends, if not breaks, the rules.

Apparently, any other team getting disciplined is fine, but when it's the Pats, it's some kind of witch hunt. Did you ever think that maybe the league doesn't want whatever integrity they have left flushed down the toilet by something like this? They're just supposed to let it go because it's Lord Brady, The Chosen One?

But no, we're all just jealous and that's why this is a story. Got it. You and your friends can continue pretending that everyone else is the bad guys.

I don't think it's the discipline, it's the insane public outcry that basically only targets the Pats even with other targets of rule violations (past and present) that show a lack of perspective in what's happening.

If people are going to cry from the hills to legitimately put an asterisk behind every win, or literally vacate wins it would only be logical to do the same for every other organization that was found to be guilty of rules violations.

I'm fine with the league handing down suspensions on Brady, but it's simply annoying to see the same boring "lol pats are cheaters" stuff when the main fuel for that fire is a complete lack of knowledge on "spygate" and a complete unwillingness to have perspective.

The "THEY CHEATED TOO" defense never works. I'm not gonna use any apt real life metaphors to describe a similar situation where this kind of logic wouldn't work, because Patriots fans seem to love getting caught up in semantics.

I'ma just put it like this: We ain't talking about the other teams that cheated; we're talking about the Patriots and specifically Tom Brady, and their habitual cheating. And ONLY THE PATRIOTS AND TOM BRADY should be punished here.

Report: Brady suspension will be announced next week

NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell has reportedly decided to suspend Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, with an announcement coming next week and the only remaining question being how many games Brady will miss.

Gary Myers of the New York Daily News reports that several league sources say Goodell considers Brady’s role in Deflategate a serious violation. The question Goodell still needs to answer, according to this report, is how long Brady will be suspended, not if Brady will be suspended.

Goodell reportedly believes that he needs to discipline Brady for two different violations: First, for his involvement in having footballs under-inflated. And secondly, for his refusal to allow the Deflategate investigation to have access to his cell phone records.

Not sure what grounds the NFL think they have to demand cell phone records. Why would anyone hand over all their personal information in a non criminal investigation? I don't understand that expectation.

He didn't have to hand over "all his personal information." The NFL told him he could have his lawyer only send over the stuff that was relevant to deflategate. And the Golden Boy wouldn't even do that.

The "THEY CHEATED TOO" defense never works.
Justifications just end up being funny and pathetic.

-Everybody does it.
-You're not trying if you're not cheating.
-It's not cheating if you don't get caught.

Those in the wrong trot out these excuses all the time. Live up to it, accept the consequences, and move on.

Again, I'm not using the "they cheated too" to justify the actions, I'm simply asking for people to look the wider scope of the NFL if they honestly think the Superbowl was "tainted" or if it changes the legacy.

4 games for two sexual assault accusations.
2 games for domestic abuse.

6-8 games for a potential violation that after 3.5 months, they can't even prove.

Smdh. Goodell's NFL.

Do you really not see the difference? I mean, it's only been mentioned dozens of times in this thread. But then...

Why are you putting "lol pats are cheaters" in quotes?

We are coming for the Pats!

First, I'm not a Patriots fan. Second, I believe this is a minor infraction that didn't affect the game in the slightest. I bring up the Panthers/Vikings ball tampering to show that no one cares when footballs are illegally tampered with. Unlike domestic violence or PEDs, ball tampering does not get people upset. It's only when the Patriots did it that we cared.

Seems pretty disingenuous to me.

Read my post again without the part where I mentioned Pats fans. People are upset because they cheated and won. The guys who cheat and still lose never actually got the better of anyone. What about that is difficult to grasp? We cared about Bountygate too, and that's because they were winners.

Also Brady's smugness doesn't help things.

"Worst kind of fan" would have been much more appreciated but I'll live.
I've rooted for Randy Moss, Chris Nilan, Kevin Garnett etc... Players I hated just the day before they put on a Boston Jersey. I'm sure these feelings aren't exclusive to Boston fans.
We as sports fans in general are incredible hypocrites. Again not exclusive to just my area.
This is all interesting and makes for amazing discussion. I'm just telling you I've embraced Lord Brady's dark side. Wait that sounds bad.
