Saw people waiting outside Best Buy today for this.

Kind of shocked people would do this for a tablet, but whatever floats your Apple fanboy boats.
 
Dem lines... My gawd. Don't think I'll be doing that again anytime soon. Scored a white 32g 3g from Best Buy though.

Yes, actually. Open up a word document (at least 3000 words) in Pages, and when it does, scroll down rapidly, and see if therer is that checkered box. Then tap to edit a sentence and see if it reacts immediately or if lags in the input. I showed this to a few Apple Geniuses and they were not impressed and gave me a replacement there and then. It didn't surprise me, however, to know it was the same with the new iPad (1st gen). They told me to try it out for a little while and if I'm not happy with it to bring it back. I'm curious as to what they'd do/offer in that case

I honestly don't believe your average person looking for a tablet would wait hours in a line, and also in the rain, for one.

Absolutely ridiculous. Apple should not have let me purchase the original model so close to the release of the new one. At the least, they should have told me when I was buying it. They even had the nerve to ask about Apple Care for an outdated model!

I am standing in a line of 300 people of all ages and types, they are all "average" people.

Since I've updated to 4.3 yesterday, my iPad's 3G connection works for 3 minutes and then dies, never happened before. I need to manually switch it off and on in general settings just to get online a bit but it dies again in the next few minutes and never recover ("no cellular data network" or something).
Top left it keeps showing a 4 bars signal and my carrier's name, but it looks stuck and there's no circle "data loading" icon.

I was supposed to sell this damn thing on monday for the iTWO.

You can go back and get a $100 refund if you bought it 2 weeks prior to the announcement
 
So what are my chances of going to the Apple store tomorrow morning, and getting or reserving an iPad 2? I don't really know how these things work. Thanks!

Crap my iPad has this weird light bleed on the lower left corner.

You only see it in very dark screens. I'm thinking of returning to Best Buy and exchanging it. Would they do it?

The profile of an early adopter is one that is willing to make all sorts of sacrifices to get something early. This isn't fanboy-ism, it is a characteristic of the early market adopter much like the lines for the NGP will be full of people who may not have ever even considered owning a Playstation portable.
 
So when can we decide if the iPad is as successful as the iPod or iPhone? iPhone took off and became successful with either the 3G or 3GS, right?

You must not buy anything before any major event like CES, E3, etc. New stuff is always coming out and as an aside, nobody in Apple retail knows the release plans of any Apple hardware. They are just as much in the dark as everyone else until the boxes show up at their stores.

Posting this on my brand new iPad 2 .

So glorious. Can't wait to get home and post some pics.

It was a good day today. Not only I got my iPad but I scored a set of beats studio headphones almost brand new for $160.

for sure....look no further than the pile of android tablets lining up for release....

no one even knew there was a tablet market. I still think it one of the worst consumer values for the money out there in tech (tablet in general, not ipad specific)...but apple created yet another new market, can't deny it.
 
Just finished my backup. Makes me wish it had thunderbolt!

Now I can use it! lol. Its so incurable how thin the device is. I love it. It feels smaller than the old one, because of the bezel design, and white color.

I love it.

Only had to wait in line for 2 hours or so. Got it within a half hour of the store opening, feel bad for the other 500+ people that were waiting in line.

Best Buy probably won't have any, but Apple might have a stock of reserved for repair units that they can swap for you.

Blew up with the 3G, blew up more with the 3GS. iPad was something like the fastest first launch consumer electronics money maker ever or something, so I'd consider it successful enough already.
 
What do you guys think about the smartcover? Does it work well even if you put a screenguard on the ipad? I have one but I'm hesitant to open it lol
 
itunes died about four times during sync, and.... my ipad is almost full =( should of maned up and gotten 32 gig. got vlc loaded with movies, and just got carcassonne. Going to buy instant paper next and try out ny times app.

Question, has Apple changed the way the store works so you can somehow see what you have downloaded on that account?

A few years back I had to make a new account and now when I get a new Apple product I can't remember which apps I bought on the first account and which are on the second. Which means I have to play Russian Roulette and hit the "Buy" button and hope a message pops up saying I have bought it already.

Is there an easier way?

Alright then. Guess tomorrow I'll hit my my local Apple Store that's 30mins away :/ Had to go there anyway since BB didn't have any red cases in stock...or sold out before I got there.

Also turning it off I saw more major light bleeds all over the screen. It's a real mess when I just see a black screen. I compared it to my old iPad and that one had minor cases of it but not too noticeable unlike this one. I sure lucked out :/
 
i bought one for my girlfriend today. i still have an OG one, and will probably carry it for a little while longer, but man oh man this thing is awesome. i adore the smart cover.

The "buy" button has been fixed. It will show "install" if you've already purchased the app before.
 
Went to Best Buy over on Pico/Sawtelle

Long ass line. I refuse to wait in that line! REFUSE!

i was at best buy today and the stack of white sku tickets were gone before they hit the end of the line. i picked up a black one for my friend (hi vas_a_morir!) who has the flu, and bought the white one for my girlfriend. i was pretty sure i was one of the few that got a black one.

Will an iPad from Canada work on UK's 3G infrastructure? Also what is the price of a Canadian 16GB 3G iPad 1? Is it still $670

I would check on the site but they aren't on there anymore
