Ugh. My first iPad app purchase regret.

Geometry Wars for iPad sucks. So hard to control. I want my dollar back.

Apple should set up a "Return policy". Make it so within the first 24 hours if you decide you don't like the app, you can "return it" (It would delete and remove your licence from Apple's servers) and the developer wouldn't need to know. They probably don't send checks to the devs until once a month anyway. Just make it so it only counts a sale 24 hours after it's done. Maybe restrict it to cheap less than $10 apps. (Or $5 if you have to)

Though I guess it would open a world for pirates and crackers. Still, I know I've bought apps I wanted to return and accidentally bought the wrong versions of certain apps.

It would definitely make decisions easier for apps that cost money but don't have demos.

that's alot of time. Google revised their return policy to 15mins window.

my first regret was 2 ipad apps costing $15 and $6. Apple refunded my money after I emailed them

Well, as long as there's a window of time where you can buy the app, try it out enough and make a decision.

So I'm trying out the free version of the Atomic browser and damn i was surprised that in my tests I rendered pages in around the same amount of time for the most part, with some being a tad slower and some a tad faster. I just assumed safari would be faster because of the 4.3 update.

Yeah, I timed loading times of a bunch of webpages on my iPhone and old iPad 1 after 4.3 hit and page loading was basically identical between icab and safari... Except for the pages where icab was a few seconds faster because of ad blocking. I guess I just don't visit super js heavy pages.

I mentioned the same thing back when 4.3 came out after I did some tests with iCab. JS speed isn't everything...hell iCab is slower on SunSpider on iPad 2 than Safari on the original iPad, but still beats the hell out of it in actual use.

Anyways has anyone tried this Essays app? It just got an update and got put on sale. It's similar to the other Dropbox using text editors, but does rich text through HTML it seems, and has some other features.

Did the "backlight bleeding/glue problems" on anyone's iPad 2 went away yet?

I bought a 16gb at the European launch last friday and it suffers from yellow backlighting bleeding. Only visible at full brightness with a dark background but when i spend 500 euro i'd like to get a flawless piece of hardware.

I know backlight bleeding won't go away, but i went to the nearest APR and they said the first batch of new iPads suffers from the same 'glue problems' as the iPhone4 (with bleeding spots caused by the fact that glue hasn't dried yet). Probably discussed over and over before in this thread but couldn't find any discussion about while skimming the last few pages.

I also have the backlight bleeding issue. A clearly yellow spot to the right of the home button.

I can exchange a Best Buy bought iPad at the Apple store, correct? Further, what are the chances they'll let me exchange a black for a white? Slim?

I've had mine since the 15th and it's still there. Can't say I buy the drying glue story for bleeding. Haven't had the yellow spots though, the closest thing to that is just that the screen is set to a warmer color temperature than the old one.

I'd guess slim cause it's considered a different model and you didn't buy it there. Like they'd probably have to run it as a returned purchase rather than warranty exchange, and they can't really do that if you never purchased it there. No harm in trying though.

If that doesn't work you'll just have to go through Best Buy if you're still in the warranty period.

When I took my Ipad2, purchased at Best Buy, in to the Apple store, they returned it and did it like a new purchase and even gave me a new receipt for the new ipad. I didn't even have to show them my best buy receipt.

No.

hence my noteshelf recommendation. The base templates for various uses are also really good.

I think penultimate is quite disappointing and once i got into noteshelf, I never looked back
Thanks. I purchased Noteshelf last night and I love it. I go to a lot of meetings so I have to take a lot of notes and this seems perfect for it.

was playing Crystal Defenders HD when my ipad when bonkers and ingame audio cut out. Didn't Work for any game. Still played music via ipod. Thought I had to genius bar it after I rebooted it 3 times and it was still retarded. No ingame sounds/no ipad sounds.

so. went to orientate/mute button and flip it out, so its no longer orientation lock and then the sounds came back. Whew! That was a bit peculiar. Stupid apple should never have made that the mute button.

Those lazy assholes at Apple are finally shipping mine, the one I ordered on day one.

(I can't fucking wait till Monday)
So worth it though. I seriously feel like not even using my main computer when I'm at home 90% of the time.

Also anyone know how to save a homepage on Atomic? I read a FAQ and it said to click the "+" button and the option should be there but I'm not seeing it.

So I went down to the local Apple Store just to see if by chance they'd gotten any iPads in so that I could get one for my wife (or, if she doesn't want it - my parents). They had the sign out that they didn't have any in stock but as I walked around the store I saw a curious amount of people that seemed to be purchasing iPad 2s. So I asked, and lo and behold they had tickets for iPads that they were giving out.

I got the last one for a black 32GB AT&T 3G model. I wanted to get my wife the white one but they didn't have that. :'( Hopefully she'll like this. If she doesn't, we're visiting my parents soon and they will DEFINITELY want FaceTime.

I'm assuming day one being the US launch (11th)? ... if so did the estimated ship/delivery dates ever shift?

I have the iPad 2 with the SmartCover and I'm not very impressed.

1- How is it supposed to keep my screen clean?
2- The cover leaves "thumb-like" marks on my screen at the places where it folds. The screen looks even worse than regular fingerprints. Anyone else has this?

some peeps on here fold the cover into a triangle and clean it squeegee style. i personally just use a microfiber cloth.

1) it protects the screen aginst physical damage

2) once my ad is on, I don't see my nasty ass finger prints or smart cover marks so I don't care. Touch screen. Unless you install an af screen protector, you'll just have to learn to live with it.

@ pyro. Plus second option. Set as homepage?

I don't get it. You using atomic free?? Is that why?

Oh I didn't know it wasn't available in the free version. That's kind of a random thing to exclusively put in the paid app, lol. Guess I'll get the full eventually.

Indeed. It's really awesome. I haven't bothered with a microfiber cloth since somebody brought this up.

It's a squeegee, it's a cover, it's a stand! <3

Isn't atomic browser a dollar?

Out of curiosity, can the cover itself be cleaned? Micro cloths remove oils, but themselves need to be washed to reset their ability to clean.

Downloaded zite today. Man it really is nice, think I will replace flipboard with it. Pulse+zite=amazing. Proper digging the iPad, haven't even switched on my laptop today (this is my first full day with the iPad).

Ok so I thought I'd be good with just the smartcover but I'm feeling very nervous about the entirety of the iPad being "unprotected" so I was thinking about a neoprane case. Does anyone have this one and how is it? Any other recommendations?

Just bought this for mine. Obviously won't protect it from falls but does the job of protecting the back. And it fits perfectly with the smart cover.

I'm not sure if it was the last update or something I installed, but something appears to be eating up my iPad2 battery quicker than it was before. Is there any way to see what has been using battery / resources, ala Android?

Just bought a 16GB Black Wifi yesterday. Opened it up to play with it tonight and to my horror, pretty significant backlight bleed. I will definitely be swapping this one out for a new one ASAP.

Anyone else's this bad? (Please excuse poor picture quality, but you can still see the light around the edges)

I have a minor bleed in one corner but I really don't care, it doesn't effect my enjoyment of the device at all. No need to send this unit to the refurb store. :)

Thanks, good site!

Grabbed This. Would be kickass if it was green like the older cards/boards (not your fault :) ).
Thanks, if anyone has anyone has any high quality ones, feel free to submit them and I'll put them up.

This is why i actually stopped using it squeegee style.
Over time, I don't want all those oils and grime collecting my cover.

does it bother you? When how would that bother you?

I have a bit of light leak on the bottom edge but I don't see it unless its full brightness and in the dark and the screen is black (which it really never is).

Ya I feel a little backlight bleed would be OK like the bleed along the left edge, but it's pretty significant coming out of the corners. It sounds like they will swap them out for the bleed, but I just wanted to post mine to see how it compared to others. My Dad's iPad 1 has virtually no backlight bleed.

Just wanted to let everyone know that I finally settled on a domain for my wallpaper site. Have fun!

http://www.ipadbackdrops.com
Really nice. Just wish the sidebar stayed on screen while I scroll. Or that there were more per row. (On my computer there's 3 per row. On the iPad, only 2 and a lot of empty space.

Also, by using a "Load as you scroll" interface, you break the site when someone leaves the page and comes back. I see way too many sites using this terrible design technique. It's cool to use, but it needs to be made so when you return, it reloads to exactly where you were. Even FaceBook uses this. It's a pain in the ass.

You should do what Google does for Image Search. It remembers where you were and reloads and scrolls you right back to your last position when you return.

Also, there's no visual notification that the page is loading, nor is there one when you get to the end of the list. So you can't tell whether you're at the end or not.
