No, only 1 instance. Double click your home button and you can see whats in memory. Press and hold on the icon and u should have an option to remove it from memory, maybe would have fixed your Virtuoso problemsMaklershed said:Keep in mind when I ask this that I'm a dummy that doesn't know how the iPad works (or magnets for that matter!) but when I have an app open and running and then I hit the home button and go to the browser and run a session and then hit the home button again and open another app ... are all those running concurrently? I ask particularly because I was fiddling with the Piano Virtuoso app yesterday and it kept freezing and stuttering and I was wondering if its just the app thats shit or if its because my iPad is being bogged down.

Unless you mean something other than what I'm thinking, Bookman, ComicFlow, and I think Stanza (although I'm not positive) do native cbr/cbz. Comic Glass looks interesting and I may give it a shot, but I wish it had FTP support (although in the notes section of the website it appears to be a possible future addition).Teddman said:Basically it's the only app that does native cbr/cbz format besides Comic Reader Mobi, which is currently banned from the App Store (and Glass costs $2 compared to $15 they used to charge for Mobi). It has a ton of display options and a bookshelf catalog view that has a lot in common with iBooks. Extremely good alternative to ComicZeal; at $2 it's a steal.
Cool, I'll try that when I get home. Being new to Apple, I feel so overwhelmed by the iPad at times. This thread and people such as yourself are a big help. Thank you.golem said:No, only 1 instance. Not everything there is necessarily in memory, it's just a recent apps list. However if it is in memory, then yeah clearing it out from there will kill the app.golem said:No, only 1 instance. And stuff can run in the background to an extent. The built in apps can stay open (like Mail) but others are limited to either 10 minute windows before they get killed (no indication), or if they have particular tasks like background music or location tracking (which will be shown in the status bar with a little icon). In those cases they should still be using lowered resources than when they are the current open app.
To be sure the least amount of stuff is open just restart the iPad (hold down the lock button, slide to turn off, hold lock to turn on again). If Virtuoso is still having performance issues it's probably just something with the app.

Can't find it in app store. Am I missing it somewhere and is it optimized for the iPhone, iPad or both?

:? I know you can sign up for data on the iPad, without visiting a carrier store. So you have to put in credit card details then?thewesker said:Why would you think that's possible?

Yeah, I think the website works fine too. You could use that for the actual messages and maybe keep the app around for push notifications if you want.Foob said:I think you'd be able to use google voice? Don't believe it's a native iPad app, so you'd have to 2x it, but it'd work.

Yeah, but it's a subscription service on the iPad, is it not? Surely Apple will be demanding their cut any day nowtypo said:Plus you'll have to get a sim card from the carrier of your choice.

http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/optimum-for-ipad/id424612367#In addition to approximately 300 live channels and access to VOD [video on demand], the Optimum App for iPad integrates enhanced guide information that makes it easier than ever before for customers to find the content they already receive as part of their cable television subscription. Programming is fully searchable, including by genre, and the application includes the ability to schedule DVR recordings and manage previously-recorded content.
http://www.macrumors.com/2011/04/02/cablevision-one-ups-time-warner-cable-with-new-tv-ipad-app/Cablevision uses its secure and proprietary Advanced Digital Cable television network to deliver cable programming to customers for viewing on the Optimum App for iPad, and content is not delivered over the Internet. The application turns the iPad into an additional television, enabling Cablevision customers to view the same live programming and VOD content already being delivered to other TVs in the home as part of the service they have paid for. Cablevision has the right to distribute programming over its cable system to iPads configured in this way under its existing distribution agreements with programming providers.

Apple knows how to make a great advertisements for sure. At the same time it's really annoying ad because they advertise how iPad 2 is faster, thinner etc. and then say how none of it matter. Having their cake and eating it too :/giga said:
Eh. They specifically said those things are all great, but those alone aren't enough. It's an ad basically reiterating what Jobs said at the iPad 2 event concerning technology needing excellence in user experience (software).Darkkn said:Apple knows how to make a great advertisements for sure. I really shouldn't have bought a 16GB WiFi model, I should have got the 3G.
I'm trying to sell mine (unopened still) for the difference that it will cost me to buy a 3G one off Craigslist.
bah
Well even easier is the fact that I can just use personall hot-spot for free on my iPhone (Canadian) and that was my plan from the beggining. But adding data to my cell plan is pricey ($35.00 for 3GB (that includes whatever I use on my iPhone)). So It seemed more worth while to spend $35.00 a month for a Data Plan for just the 3G iPad (Which gives me 5GB).neojubei said:why not just buy a mifi device from verizon and u can pair many devices on it.

I'm really not sure how much Data I will use, because I think I am confused about how data is calculated on a cell phone.Crazymoogle said:How much data are you really using on your iPad is probably a good question. Right now I use 1GB per month rougly on my iPhone.. It was my understanding up until last night that data was only used/counted when I went online. However when I was looking at my usage last night I saw that it calls it 'Cellular Data'. So I am thinking now perhaps when I talk on the phone that uses data as well? I work out of town so I am often on the phone with my girlfriend/family for extended periods of time... So I sort of think THAT is why my usage is so high. Does that sound right?
