I've never printed from an iPad, but everything I've read about it says that it can yield mixed results on any non AirPrint enabled printer. I have stayed away from buying an app because I've read that glitches can vary widely on most of them.

I remember my ex-genius friend saying they had a hardware discount somewhere near 25 or 30%, but they could only use it a certain number of times a year, IIRC.

The printer is Airprint enabled. It works fine, other than the margin alignments are not right. :(

So I ordered an iPad 2 last night but there were problems with the payment (nothing I can't sort out, I've spent a fair bit this week and my bank decided to block my card). I'm unsure whether to call Tesco (where I ordered it from) to get the problem resolved or to wait until after tomorrow evening (morning/afternoon for you US folk) before re-ordering.

There's really no chance of a new iPad being announced tomorrow, is there? *unsure*

All signs seem to point to no. But then again, it's only one more day.
 
Yeah, I'm holding off for now. Turns out the voucher is valid until Wednesday anyway, so I wont miss out on getting it a little cheaper.

That's my only issue with it.

Same here. In fact, it doesn't wake it up even if you're on your home network..unless I missed a setting somewhere.

Extremely easy to use app if you leave your computer running 24/7 though.
 
You guys think Apple will have an iPad 2 sale on Black Friday?

Our laptop is on its last legs and we're almost set on getting an iPad instead of another laptop/PC. And we can wait another month to buy it if there's going to be a sale.

Last year there was a $50 discount. I expect a similar 'sale' this year.

Sorry for all the questions. I was hoping our laptop could hold off until we got our tax return next year, but dammit, it's really struggling right now.

expect ipad 3 next spring. no bundle for the black friday sale.
 
Shit..my luck they will announce iPad 3 tomorrow, because I bought an iPad 2 tonight for my wife for a surprise anniversary gift tomorrow.

Yeah, Apple does really well for that. But honestly if I am computer literate I do not need an iPad. I wish that would be addressed.

Yes, and it was. I think bathala was making the joke that the iPhone 4S is as powerful as an iPad 2 now, but has a (relatively) better screen.

It's so bizarre to see how long this Facebook iPad app has been sitting out there finished. It's been at least 2 months now since it was revealed, and yet for some reason they just seem to want to hold it back. I have a feeling there are some silly politics going on behind the scene on this.

Yet another article that I can't find at the moment insinuates that the lack of release is due to the bad blood between Apple and Facebook over Ping and a few other spats.
 
So I am on interfacelift looking for wallpaper and just noticed something very strange. They have listings for iPad 3 size wallpapers. The sizes are listed as 2048x2048 instead of 1024x1024. Just go here and click the resolution tab to select iPad 3. Very interesting.
 
they're taking a guess based on rumors and thinking ahead. it's not a guarantee of anything in the ipad 3 but it's probably smart on their part to start collecting those bigger images now.

That's not strange. It's been rumored for quite a while that the next iPad will be pixel doubled. They're just getting a jump on it.

I guess that makes sense, but I just thought it was weird. It reminds me of all the iPhone 5 cases being shown off and then nothing happening with them yet.

Edit: needs a server app running on the host computer, whereas teleport works with built in osx screen sharing. It must do something special then..?

As per my post a few posts up, no one really knows. Could pop out tomorrow, could never launch. Supposedly it's done (or close to it) and politics are holding it up.
 
I have a dumb iTunes question. I tried to buy a season pass of Breaking bad for iPad, but it tells me I don't have enough memory. It won't let me buy and then pick individual episodes, but rather, calculates the whole season and refuses to let me proceed.

And when I try to buy it on apple tv, it only shows me the hd season pass, and not the sd version, which is more than ten bucks cheaper.


Anyone help?
 
A general question about iPhones, iPods, and iPads: How come certain YouTube videos aren't able to be played on these devices? I'll be browsing GAF on my iPad, someone will link to YouTube, but then it says "video cannot be played." Why is that?

Also, how come the YouTube app refuses to find videos I know exist? Mostly all of them are music-related, so is that the reason? Does YouTube honestly go through every video on their site to make sure I can't hear a studio version of a song on my iPad/iPhone, or is there a little "don't allow video to be played on mobile devices" check-box that uploaders check? I don't want to listen to lame live versions or covers of songs. I want the real deal! Or as close as I can get.

Some videos are stil encoded in flv (flash). If the video isn't allowed to be played on mobile it's probably becuase the uploader wants their ad revenue money (most of the music-related videos are available in the Vevo app).

In response to your second paragraph, it's a problem I noticed with iOS YouTube apps. I've found and played some music videos on my Android phone that my friend could not even find on his iPhone. I'm curious if using the mobile YT site remedies that specific issue.
 
Facebook is kinda broken on iPad iOS5. YouTube videos thumbs cover almost the entire posts. More proof that the app is coming? I'd say it'll come by ios5 official launch.

Its like that on the second one also, I guess its because its essentially just a browser.
 
How hard is it to consolidate Apple IDs? After my first iPad 2 was stolen, I bought a new one but couldn't associate it with my Apple ID and had to make a new one.

Also, I got Splashtop HD. It works pretty good. It seems much smoother than the Touchpad one (though it is new).

And ComicGlass > Comiczeal. I opened up Zeal today, and the weird database was pissing me off. I tried to delete several comics, and it was still showing them despite my trying to delete them multiple times.
