Ask me about the GAF Notebook
It's an iTunes exclusive (for now anyways). So don't forget to compare apples to apples when thinking about the numbers from an iTunes perspective.

Completely satisfied with my purchase :)

Impressed by how this was all pulled off, and even moreso that this is a legitimately awesome album

Still no DJ Khaled.
Did Beyoncé get on the phone wit the CEO of iTunes and tell them to use THE MOST POWERFUL SERVERS? Like it's a big red button? I think not. Also this album just dropped out of nowhere, right? That's crazy.

Can't really find full versions of the songs on youtube and the little I did hear of one song was total garbage. But it's pop, so of course people buy it in droves. Crazy that she broke the record for fastest-selling album, though. Screw iTunes exclusivity though. I don't want low-quality mp3's.

I didn't know about that 25 mil in promotion until I listened to a podcast. There are some made folks out there right now. Beyounce just pressed the "Be Great" button and the universe did all the work.

Well to be fair Gaga had a lot of internal problems too. Like, her manager quit the week before release, and her label is still struggling to release shit, like the video for her next single. It's mostly been an issue of keeping people interested and her team is failing in that regard almost every chance they get.

ARTPOP is a great album, but the sad fact is that people didn't care about it.

Apologies for my ignorance, but why is just short of a million albums sold globally impressive? Out of that Beyonce sees maybe a hundred thousand dollars, which probably barely gets her through a bad shopping day in Louis Vuitton.

She sold it with no promotion.

It's mostly about the records set. Also, you have to consider the sheer amount of free promo she's getting, plus the fact that she just announced another leg of her tour.

She's raking in a shit ton of money for her label and they will pay her in kind.

Haunted sounds like the best track from the previews.

I'm impressed by the unexpected demand for this. Both from her fans and other people that wanted to get in on this surprise release just to be part of the club.

The preview ends right before the best part of the song. :lol

I heard Beyoncé has good music, but I'm not familiar with her works. Can anyone recommend me some songs?
You can't buy tracks, you have to buy the whole album.

By the way. it will be available at retail on Dec 20, in the US anyway.

Itunes exclusive, no one knew it was coming, and no single.

Are you seriously trying to undermine this?

It's completely unprecedented in just about every way.

yeah I was asking why. so I read that it was announced out of nowhere, without marketing and was iTunes exclusive. which gives a bit of context to the achievement. while it's not commercially very significant, it's ballsy for sure.

It's amazing there was no leaks.

Only the top dogs in iTunes and her record label knew about it. Physical production on the album didn't begin until it launched on iTunes. I mean people saw her shooting stuff but the rumor was she was shooting a calendar.

2013 was supposed to die with Britney Jean.

Yeah, in the U.S. alone.

Found it:

After several delays due to legal battles, No Strings Attached was met with generally favorable reviews from music critics. The album debuted atop the U.S. Billboard 200 with first-week sales of 2.4 million copies, setting the record for one-week sales in the country; the group still holds the record today

Although I guess these are download only records.
