Congrats to Apple for having the greatest marketing plan ever, they are the only mass consumer electronic company which can sell you inferior hardware and make it seem superior. My android from 2012 was just as good as iPhone 6. Heck even I wanted the iPhone 6 purely for the aesthetics. but when I read the specs it would of been a huge downgrade fro my galaxy s 5
Yeah no it really wasn't.

Grats to Apple. Everyone I know IRL that picked one up is really enjoying it. My pops traded in his Note for a 6+ and is quite satisfied.

Also, what's with the shit-kickers in these threads? Get a fucking life.

yes. Apple phones sell a shit ton. Android compatible phones sell a shit ton. At some point this is going to become as silly as having heated Coke vs Pepsi sales debates, and calling people who prefer Pepsi "sheep".

Coke vs Pepsi? What?

Android is targeted for users having varying budget, right from 50$ phone to 800$ phone, and from a third world country to a developed nation. Whereas apple is for a rich segment who can afford to pay 700$. There is nothing coke or pepsi here.

iphone vs. Android is the new Genesis vs. SNES

except it's not on the playground at elementary school and it's way more annoying

It's more like Dior vs. Wal-Mart but whatever

who cares

Yeah, it's really weird how defensive people get over this. iOS and Android have many different strengths and weaknesses. Sure, one may be more customizable and have certain features before the other, but it also lacks the quality of usability and user experience people expect of the other one. There's nothing wrong with that, it's good competition.

What's the name of your 2012 phone? Does it even work in 2014 with no issues? I want to know before I call bullshit. LOL... You brought up the S5 so holla these benchmarks:

http://www.tomsguide.com/us/iphone-6-benchmark-results,news-19584.html

Half the Ram
Half the Mhz
Half the Cores

But better to at least equal performance.... HOLD THIS L. Embrace that shit.

You'd have at least a hypothetical argument if you said the GS5 LTE-A.

I've never paid $700 for an iPhone and neither has anyone I know. What exactly is your point anyway? Because I think you badly missed mine.

Seriously guys, do we need the phone wars? You like the OS, get that phone. It really is like coke vs Pepsi. I'm not even a fancy but the people in these threads turn me into one.

Yeah but at the end of the day you're still stuck with a Samsung phone.

Isn't the S5 the worst of the Flagships right now?

Not everyone buys on-contract you know. Also, on contract you staying paying that 25 or so $for 2 years anyway. The point is Android caters to a wider user base, whereas Apple is targeted for that premium segment. Coke and Pepsi is a bad analogy considering that both are at same price, and cheap as hell for anyone to afford.

I was a Sierra Mist fanboy and hated that BS 7-Up but now I am in China and it turns out Pepsi doesn't sell Sierra Mist and actually distributes 7-Up here.

The moral of the story is hating 7-Up can make you a hypocrite.

5s is still a beast of a phone wow. I swear the gap in overall everything was greater between the 4s-5 no?

Who cares? Buy an android then. Who honestly gives a fuck? If getting an android phone is a better choice because of where you live or your economic situation then god bless you. My point in bringing up Coke/Pepsi is that both are established brands that aren't going anywhere. Some people prefer one over the other. Some people couldn't even tell you why they prefer one over the other. Nobody cares. It's just the way it is. Buy what you like just like you drink what you like.

All flagships have their issues so that's not saying a lot but I see where you're coming from. The poster brought up the S5 which is a kind of an extremely hyperbolic statement. The fingerprint sensor on the iphone 5S defecates on the sensor on the GS5 and he had the unmitigated gall to bring up the GS5. The nerves of the fanboy.

He could've said the LG G3 but no he had to take it one step farther.

Disclaimer: I have an S3, have had it since it came out July of 2012. Since apparently, that matters here.

Those are fucking dynamite numbers for Apple, no matter how you slice it. I knew they were shoring up staff and such for this, and now I see why. They really landed real well after the middling stuff with the 5S/5C. I wonder how the watch stuff will turn out.

RE: Android vs iOS: They really went into it with two different goals.

Android wanted market share, Windows style. Goes on everything, tons of different versions, skins, etc etc.
iOS wanted market share, Apple style. One hardware, one software, clean experience. Comparing the hardware of smartphones is a huge disservice at this stage. You should compare smartphones on a hardware/software basis, and your conclusion should be on a case by case basis, not all across the board.

apple are truly innovative as they strong-arm carriers into being the only company that they're willing to subsidize the cost of a handset for...

Huh? Every on-contract smartphone is subsidized. Carriers do that to lock people into 2 year contracts and/or their upgrade service like T-Mobile's JUMP and whatnot. Apple isn't the only one that does that. The carriers eat the cost, but make it up very quickly on your monthly fees.
